There are also ones like AOC who on top form could push for a starting place on merit.

Im not totally sure but I remember reading Rodwell got one for about that number of minutes (someone mentioned it to take the piss out of Gerrard).Would make some sense, I think there was a consideration to the rules a while ago because players could make a vital contribution to the title race but miss out on a medal, Macheda for example.
-
Would be great if we could win the league with four games to spare, then we could give Cech and Mark the two games each needed for a medal Would be a great way for Cech to end his career with us (he won't stick around as number 2 for longer than a year I doubt) and Schwarzer to end his career. (I read rules have changed to something like 140 minutes for a medal, Jack Rodwell got one last season)

I don't think Jason is saying we should buy English players at the expense of our best players, that's upsurd. However there are players like AOC who in my opinion could easily be squad players here. Like Le Chels said would we be worse with say AOC instead of Salah? for example.

Im still intregued by how we will go about the big games and who will miss out. We have Thiabut and the back four, beyond that Matic and Rami will play, Schurrle I think will almost always be super sub in big games, Costa up front obviously. Which leaves two of Cesc, Willian and Oscar. I do think there will be some games especially away Cesc might be sacrafised for the defensive protection the two Brazilians offer.

The thing is, there are quite a few really good English players knocking about right now, the team that played Norway have the potential to be a really good team unit, I tell you the problem and that's the dinosaur sitting in the dugout. Im not saying we should splash money on any Tom, Dick or Harry but they are some talented young English players that would work in our system as squad players at the very least.

If I supported say PSG I would want a French core to the team as much as I do an English core to Chelsea, me wanting a HG core has absolutely nothing to do with me being English. Given our need to get back to having a top top squad and JT in relitevely good condition we can let it go this year, from next summer we really need to start rebuilding our host country group, starting with a back up keeper if Cech leaves and someone like John Stones.

Liverpool were bolax in the 1-1 in 12/13, how they got a point still beats me. Which Swansea game are you referring to? can't be the one we lost but dominated the game surely? Also City at home we were by far the better team in the first half and should have been out of sight by half time.
-
Possibility, thankfully the decisions in the hands of the best manager in the club's history.
-
We should sign him next summer. Ivan will be 31 and John can gradually replace him as the right back come centre half aswell as add to our HG core that NEEDS boosting. Would be a very shrewd signing imo.
-
You could imagine his first press conference if we gave him the job instead of Rafa. "yes it's a great opportunity and you can't turn Chelsea down, they rung me on Saturday after they lost to West Brom and said Robbie was on thin ice and would I be interested if the opportunity came along? triffic" said Arry. "I can't wait to work with Eden Hazard, triffic family man".

It was said it was impossible to win the double until Spurs did it. It was said it was impossible to win the treble until United did it, It was said it was impossible to go a league season unbeaten in modern until Arsenal did it. There's a first time for everything.

oh right, why on earth did we buy Frank Lampard when we could have just promoted Leon Knight? damm board.
-
The thing is, if we evolve the team properly and correctly in future windows I honestly believe we are in for a good 5 6 year spell off domination, we were in for something similar this time ten years ago but we started messing up the transfer window and let United back in. I have a feeling Jose is going to win the quad sometime soon, maybe not this year but 2016 or 2017.
-
Just remembered he only has 3 years left, it will slowly creep into player control terroritry if we leave it any longer.
-
Unless there's politics with the price tag and Kenwright tells Martinez Lukaku must play?£28m is such a huge financial commitment for Everton even if Eto'o should take his place on merit, the politics with the price tag may prevent it.
-
He doesn't seem to be playing with the same freedom and happiness he did last season. Pressure off the price tag?
-
I think many knew it deep down, but if they accept that our best player had glaring weaknesses that would stop him getting in a top top team that would mean admitting our team were pretty shit. Also I think part of the reason people are so defensive for him is because he was the first creative player in after we were gagging for one through the whole of 10/11, our team lacked so much width and creativity it got the point people were suggesting Charles N Zogbia and David Beckham. Heck we were even looking at Ashley Young hitting the ground running at United with extreme envy.Similar thing with Ramires actually, is it a coincidence his lack of technical abilty has come under more scrutiny since Matic arrived?
-
I do agree in general that we need more HG players, however for this season I was prepared to temporarily put it on hold due to the need to 'complete' our squad to challenge at the top. Next year will be when it needs to change back again, starting with John Stones hopefully.
-
fair point, if you were Ancelotti would you give him a shot given Cassilas form?
-
Where would you rank Keylor Navas?

United are like us under Rafa, they have great players, but only on some areas of the field. On the other hand, now Fergies gone they look like there heading down the route of Real Madrid, splash big on Galacticos, the individual talent will win them trophies but they won't dominate.
-
Every time I see the pundits and United fans create there best lineup now with their transfers done Mata isn't in there. A year ago the same people were branding Jose an enemy of football for supposedly disrespecting such a great player. Absolutely comical back tracking.
-
Anderson and Nani were two of the hottest young properties in football at the time, it was a huge statement by United signing them. Kagawa was Germany player of the year, Jones and Smalling were decent prospects but have been shoved all over the place. You could argue Fergie got a bit to sensible in his late years, questioning Edens price tag speaks volumes. Basically Fergie would never have thrown obscene wages or transfers at a player (Rooney being the only exception).
-
Us and United have literally swapped roles in recent seasons. It use to be us spunking money on players we didn't need while United were sensible in the market, it's literally turned around completely on it's head. This also means Fergie has no control whatsoever, thia would never have happened under his control.
