  1. Messi's undisputedly the best, but Ronaldo has sacrafised the authentically pleasing side of his game to pad out his goal stats, i liked him as a player much much more at United. Messi's godlike greatness shouldn't distract from how great Hazard is and Figo was. I personally wouldn't want Hazard taking ten low percentage shots a game to score 1 as while that may finally give him the credit he deserves both he and us would be worse off for it in my opinion.
  2. Luis Figo never scored more than 14 in a season yet he is widely considered as one of the best players of his era!!!
  3. If Hazard played for Atletico, Dortmund or Monaco (ie, where there could be small hope we could still get him) there would be a 1,000 page spread of universal pleading for his signing.
  4. Conte plays Drinkwater, he didn't give Chalobah a single PL start (bar a game after the job was done). He plays Rudi and Christensen, he barely played JT, Ake and Zouma. He uses Zappacosta, last season he never rotated Moses and Alonso bar cup games or injuries. Maybe trusted is the wrong word, but he certainly has more players he's willing to use now than he did last season. And we couldn't have found player's to improve us for that money instead of signing the players above? We can't chuck £100m plus 400k a week at a player no, but there's more than one way to skin a cat.
  5. If we sold £200m worth of players that were crucial last season i would agree, but the reality was we didn't. These are the figures we got from our outgoings this summer. Begovic £10m Cuadrado £17.3m Atsu £6.2m Traore £8.8m Ake £20m Chalobah £5m Matic £40m Diego Costa £50m So £75m of that money was brought in by players Conte never had/used. Only two players that played a part in last season's title were sold, and one of them was considered our weak link. We had more than enough money to improve the team, the fact that we didn't was down to poor recruitment, not lack of funds. It may be a low net spend in the technical term, but in terms of first team ingoings and out's, we did strengthen in numbers and spent a lot more on first team players than what we got back. Last season we had 3 trusted CB's this year we have 5, last season we had 2 trusted wing backs, this year 3, last season 3 trusted CM's, this year 4, it looks like we are going to further strengthen our wingback area and finally have a trusted alternate striker as well. If we start recruiting as well as we did in the early part of this decade we are laughing but unfortunately that's a big if.
  6. Wrong thread, this is Hazard's page not Willian's
  7. 200m is a lot of money regardless of if it was made back, and furthermore Matic aside who did he want to keep that was sold? Half of the sales were loanees or squad players he never played.
  8. https://chanceanalytics.com/2017/03/17/the-best-full-back-in-the-world-emerson-palmieri/ Small sample size, but interesting points.
  9. They weren't back to their best, they dug in and shown a great mentality but the reality was we were outplayed by Barca and Bayern and won due to a combination of said mentality and someone in the sky. If we get to the CL final this season then chances are Hazard and Kante played a big part in getting us there so i'd be duty bound to trust them.
  10. Yeah, massively watered down versions who were on the whole poor post the double.
  11. Mou: Cant compete with City Conte: Cant compete with Utd and City Klopp: Cant compete with Utd, City and Chelsea Wenger: Cant compete with anyone Pattern emerging!!!
  12. He played both Norwich games at LB. Many great LB's are failed wingers, Kenedy at LB was the one thing Jose got right in that disaster period, it's the only position he has a chance of a decent career.
  13. I swear Lampard, JT and Drogba all got big contracts at around that age? I think the reason they weren't offered longer one's post 2010 was more down to the fact they weren't that good anymore.
  14. We haven't really done that since Torres. Salah, Cuadrado, Ba, Baba, Pato all gone in 6-18 months.
  15. He has saved 10 out of 26 in his career in Spain and England not including shootouts (his shootout record in England is 4 saves out of 8, not sure about Spain). I strongly doubt there's another keeper with a better record than that.
  16. Has any other striker played in the PL consistenly in that time like he has? Aguero's the only other striker in the whole division who's been a first choice at a PL club through the entirety of that time frame and he misses atleast 1/3rd of games through injury. Rom on the other hand has been getting unconditional starts so he should really be winning that particular stat given the time advantages he's had over the rest.
  17. Just watched alll his goals for City and he has a Drogba vs Arsenal esque record vs Man.Utd.
  18. It was really noticeable today. Caballero did made some vital saves, though Reminds me of Almunia a little bit, which is okay for a number 2.
  19. Can't see it, think how bad we can get against high energy teams that press us, United are even worse.
  20. He's better when in a midfield two next to Kante.
  21. Tbh i have never been a massive fan, but given the alternatives seem to be signing Carroll or keeping Bats id be delighted if this happens.
  22. The Carroll rumours sadly seem legit but the Crouch and Agbonlahor one's are quite evident piss takes.
  23. Doesn't help that journo's just go around in circles, i wish they would be like Lee Mack, look how he had Thierry Henry tripping over himself here. Press conferences would be prime time viewing with a bit more of this.
  24. I honestly do, there were also question marks on if he would have worked at LB and RCB but he took to it like a duck to water. I think he could be put in any (defensive) position and pull it off.
  25. Then i hope we sign a RB and put Azpi next to Christensen.
