A few quotes, it's a good article interviewing several people around Costa, if anyone picks it up. By 15, he was training with professionals every day.” But, frustration building, Costa punched an opponent and threatened the referee. His 120- day ban meant he would be suspended when super agent Jorge Mendes was visiting to run the rule over him. “ "Thankfully our appeal was accepted and he could play in the game.” Costa only played a half, but it was more than enough. His personality immediately endeared him to Mendes, who had an agreement with Portuguese club Braga to provide the primeira Liga side with young talent from minor teams." "There was a load of old guys and this overgrown kid who was fighting everyone. He wasn’t scared of anything – an incredible personality. Technically, he wasn't brilliant; he just needed to understand his body better because he was slightly uncoordinated. But just look at him now. He’s a beast" “I fought with everyone. I couldn’t control myself. I insulted everyone, I had no respect for the opposition – I thought I had to kill them.Boys who grew in academies are taught to control themselves and respect others, but no one ever told me otherwise. I was used to seeing players elbowing each other in the face and thought it was the norm.” His influence grew, as did his notoriety. Across a two-week period against Real Betis, he was almost Spain’s most wanted man. In the Copa del Rey in late January 2013, Betis defender Antonio Amaya’s errant back header presented Costa with an open goal. “Thanks for the present,” shouted the devilish Costa, running towards the tunnel, to spark a huge brawl. “Doctor Diego, Mister Costa,” read Marca’s Jekyll and Hyde headline. “If my team-mates had not held me back, I’d have killed him,” hissed Amaya after the game. “That shows what kind of person he is: he has no heart and no shame.” When the opportunity to join Chelsea arose this summer, Costa nearly refused, as he had done to Liverpool in August 2013. For the first time in his football career, even his life after his cousins’ bullying, he felt at Atletico like he belonged. “I don’t like moving house,” he has said. “I want to feel important.” Also apparently Ramos convinced him to play for Spain... Despite how much they usually fight and spit on each other on the pitch.

From Decembers month of FourFourTwo. Proof he has been a kid once!

I love how different sites gets wildly different things from those quotes. Some say that Mou is taking a dig at Liverpool, and dailystar is saying he's calling it a potential masterstroke lol

I think they are just over the moon having a semi competent central midfielder. Which he is, although not much more than that. But considering the rest of the rest of their players in that position, it doesn't surprise me they are very happy with him.

One of the few sensible posts in here, thank you.

Not even Dowd thought so to be fair. He gave a yellow.
-
I disagree. He offers lots and has shown it lots of times. He didn't have the best match today, neither did Fabregas, Luis or Oscar. Neither are robbing the club of anything, and I find it idiotic to claim anyone are robbing the club of anything.
-
Clueless. Mikel is extremely useful for keeping possession and wasting time. Go back and watch that match he had against Bayern, class performance. He's not robbing anything, the club willingly gave him that contract and the manager clearly likes him, although Matic is pretty much superior to him in every way.

Only really good player for Chelsea today were Matic, Willian and Courtois. Hazard didn't do nearly enough on the wing, Drogba despite the goal is still 36 years old and moves like a tank, Oscar didn't do much at all. The defense was mostly fine too, Luis not looking too good in a few moments going forward though. Fabregas dissapointed, but Fellatio (easily Uniteds best player btw, are they done booing him yet?) marking was good on him all day and with the lack of speed with Drogba is made it a lot easier for the United defense to focus on Hazard and Willian that he couldn't get the passed to properly. Oh well, 1 point on City is decent, but it sucks the way it was lost. Also this match just shows even more what I said since the beginning of the season. Chelsea doesn't have the depth needed for people to already congratulate Chelsea on the title. A few injuries and the team looks weak, a few more and there's very untested players being played like Ake will have to with both Ivan and Azpilicueta out. Should have kept Van Ginkel or Romeu.
-
Don't think that is true at all. I was getting really sick of him in the last 1/3 of last season, but he has been fairly consistent this season and delivered on a generally high level.
-
He might have ebola, but even then surely he can score a goal or two against United.
-
I don't know what is wrong with a captain nearing 30, but Cahill is at least a good shout if we exlude Ivan and Luis then.

Well first of all I disagree with Khedira not being a step forward, he's a very useful midfielder if he should sign. But more importantly, there's just not a lot of depth in the midfield. Mikel will be gone for African cup of nations soon, that will leave Chelsea with only Ramires, Matic and Fabregas for a good months time with lots of matches, it wouldn't take many injuries to completely fuck over Chelsea and destroy the title hopes. Pogba is apparently refusing to sign a new contract at Juve and he only got 1 ½ year left on it. It would make sense for Juve to sell soon, if he still doesn't want to sign a new contract, otherwise he would just go free.

Even when he isn't having much success with anything, as was the case for long periods of the match today, he keeps fucking going without hanging his head down and works hard as fuck for it. It usually ends up paying off. What a change from Torres.

As you say, he's getting asked the same boring shitty questions and just say the same boring shit in response. It's the journalists job to ask of something more interesting, can't blame him for auto piloting that shit.

We really need the video of that.

I wouldn't laugh at that argument just yet, Jean-Louis Dupont probably knows what he is doing. Also don't forget that FFP isn't just about world star players on top teams like City and such, it's also teams from Malta, Latvia and all kinds of places you probably have never even heard of a footballer from... So the argument while maybe seeming silling for the big clubs, that he is actually doing it for, it works on the other levels too and could very well be seen as a breach of european competition law.
