There's this odd situation which has been around since forever but I find completely unintuitive: Cardiff and the other Welsh teams in our League do not answer to the English FA, ie the organisation that runs or allows competitions to run that those Welsh clubs take part in. That's just fundamentally flawed. This came to light when a Cardiff player committed a nasty tackle, straight red, and had it rescinded. If he didn't, he wouldn't have been able to play in the FA Cup Final. The Welsh FA rescinded it, not the English FA. Oh, and it shouldn't have been rescinded. If we can't get Mikel against United rescinded, well then this shouldn't have been either as it drew blood half way up the calf.

How many years on his contract does Essien have left? That seems to be a very important factor in these things. I'd see this as the club might well receive offers but would reject them. Certainly he will be very sought after but we're a big club and we should be able to keep hold of these players.

The point is, the domestic season was weak BECAUSE these other teams are really getting a look in, as opposed to the big 4 dominating. See it as the top 4 being weaker than previously, not the entertainment value being weaker - stuff the entertainment value, I want to see us win things.
