What we need from our forward is not just goals when we're already comfortably winning, which is all he does, but goals when we're struggling, when we need someone to step up and change the game. Anelka won't do that, but Drogba has the ability and the strength to do so. That's the difference. Anelka can score all the dodgy hattricks he likes, until he starts scoring goals against the other top teams and when we're struggling, he'll always be second rate to me.

Mancienne was on loan at that time. Ivanovic did not play at all, because of injury and match fitness and the presence of our other defenders in the team. I agree that it would've been nice to give Mancienne his chance, but now I think it's not going to work, which is a shame, but there we go. Hopefully we can make better of players in the future.
