If we're talking about this season, I still think that this first 11 : Cech, Ivan, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Essien, Meireles, Lamps, Mata, Sturr, Torres has enough quality to get us the 3rd place and *maybe* win a cup or two. Quality is in this first 11, but there are couple of things that needs to be sorted: 1. Essien needs to be fit off course. if not, get a new DM in Jan. 2. Torres.. well come on already... 3. A winger is much needed. Not necessarily a starter, but someone who can offer more than Malouda. 4. Sort out the issues on the defense. AVB must stop playing this high defensive line(or do something else to improve this system.. idk) In the coming summer AVB need to get like 4-5 players to make this team his. No Maloudas and no Mikels (how shit he's he ah? i told you that alllll summer).

There is any chance they will sell him in january? I think we should get him or Marin or Hazard for the RW spot. Because Hazard is not for sale this winter one of the germens would be just what what we need imo.

A) Essien was huge when he got back from his injury in 2008/9, you cant take it from him. And like i said he was great last season until we got into our 'bad moment'. So he didnt had a full good season since 07/08, but its due to two injuries(way more than 6 months), and about last season, you can read my first post up there. B ) You need to be realy naive i would say to think that Essien will play this ACON. Nobody is stupid enough to let it happen. Not him, not the club and not Ghana. C) I realy like this energetic Brazilian but he got so much work to do to get to that level. Defensively and offensively, he's not close enough to the efficiency that Essien give you in that position (The RCM spot that Ramires plays now). If Essien can give me the same quality(or even 70%) that he gave in the start of last season, i would choose him. Thats not even a real question for me.

You can easily see it differently. I wrote it here one-two times already. Not many remember it may be, but If you look at Essien's start of last season, he was superb. He looked like our best player in the squad and one of the world best MF's again. He was in that form until his red card against Fulham. And than when he got back from his 3 games suspension we already start to suffer from "The Bad Moment" (It was Villa away with a 0-0 draw, and than the losses came. Without Ess). And not just that he got back to that team, Essien came back to play a different role, the DMF, because Mikel was injured. So naturally when Ramires and Lampard playing next to him, Essien had to be more responsble with his game as an Holder. This role didnt allowed Essien to make his trand runs, so too easily people start to think he lost it. Like the all Chelsea team last season, Essien wasnt impressive, but people need to remember that he did played great before this bad moment. Its absurd to think that Essien got back from this almost one year injury, played like 20+ games and was great in alomst all of them, and then because of a weak second half of a season(in a different role for 90% of those games) we can say he's done. I dont know how he will be when he'll come back from this injury, we'll see, but its ridiculous to think that every player that suffers from some weak months he's done. What about a player like Sneijder who yet cant capture his 09/10 form again?

Its obvious he wont go to the ACoN. We wont take this risk, Essien wont take this risk, and Ghana wont call him just a few days after coming back. And they have other good midfielders.

"for years"? wouldnt say that, the players you are talking about got us the double 1.5 years ago. With amazing football. Last season was the turning point for most of them i think, and last summer was the time to say goodbye to some of them(not bad as it sounds... i am thankful to Malouda, Anelka and everyone who i think that should have left).

I cant see why you're saying that. Right now, Lampard is back to his self and playing great, with Mata on his side our midfield is creative finaly. On the other hand, you got Sturridge who can be a great player, but not sure about a great winger. And im one of those who really thought he can. But his preformence against Arsenal and United were dreadful. And even if he scored he's goals this season, he still looks more like a striker. I think our first and second priorities are a RW and a DM. If youre talking about next season, so you can put a creative central midfielder to the list becuase of Frank's age and all. Attacking midfield is not the problem in our side right now, im kind a surprised that even after Lampard is playing well and he and Mata working well togheter people still talk about this... the porblem is that they dont have more players to play with, as we have seen against Arsenal. A right winger needs to know how to pass the ball and Daniel doesnt show he can do it good enough. The second priority is off course a DM, Meireles is great but its not enough against the big teams. Its not his role. If Essien isnt coming back soon, we need someone like Tiote from Newcastle. He can be our new Essien i think. And dont get me start on Mikel... he's not the one to replace Ess. Third priority right now is an new right back btw... I dont have suggestions as i dont think we're going to get one.

Real, City and Barca dont need him, so if he wont go to PSG we're up next i think. We should definitely try to get him in January. Too bad he couldn't play in the CL if he comes, but still it will be an amazing signing.

One thing i dont get is why i see people here talk about a creative midfielder that was needed? (didnt saw it in any other Chelsea forum i visit) Mata and Lampard were brilliant in the first half, created so much, its obvious that we should have score at least 4 in that 1st half. With Lampard playing great now, Mata who is just amazing, and Remires who improve all the time, i dont think AMF is a must for now. We need better players in 3 positions: Right winger- Daniel is just not good enough there in that moment. Maybe in the future. DM- Mikel is just awful, thats it, its pathetic to see you defending him all the time. Again, its the only forum i see it, everyone else i know completly agree he's shit for us. Doesnt give anything in the attack, and do so much mistakes on the defense, and he's so soft... Right back- Bos is just bad defensively.

Really liked Torres and Meireles yesterday, Franky was good too(personally im sure he's officially back, so many good games lately). I want to see Meireles more in this position("The Essien position" if you want..), but when we have Ramires who is brilliant lately it wont happen alot. So i would expect Boas to let Meireles go upfront more, as a DM, and then Ramires will stay in the back to cover. We saw how good Meireles can be in shooting the ball and linked with Torres and the all attack force. It can be very effective, Raul and Ramires are very different players so we could change things all the time in the middle of the game.

I knew the combintation of Mata and Lampard can be great, people were just too busy in bashing Lampard all the time... With the improvement in the form of Sturridge and Torres things look realy good actually. One more thing, Meireles was decent since he came, but i want to see more! i want to see him upront, he can give us much more than that imo.
