Chelsea would be silly to pay anyone more than what Torres earns (~180k) as it would bump up Terry's wages also - he's got a contract clause that let's him match the highest earner at the club. Thus, I call bullshit on that link as well as the reported 10m wages for Hulk.

I'd rather fortify the engine room instead. Let's not forget, Lampard gets a year older and we're one injury away from having to play Meireles or Essien (if he stays) there, which is suboptimal. And that's without even going into Sheva's pertinent point about defending the flanks or the OP's concerns about leaving out someone like Ramires, who's been on such a red hot streak.

No. For all his endeavour and tireless running, he's best suited to starting adjacent to ball winners who can play him in behind his marker by trusting his acceleration and timing. Wouldn't be half as effective starting out from the back where he's got to sprint a fair bit even before he comes up against anyone trying to stop him.
