Ferguson only announced his retirement last week and he still managed to outlast Mancini.

- Against Liverpool - Last game of the season - His last game for us - The game that got us into the Champions League, secured our future and brought in Roman Fantastic. This was pretty good as well : Ferguson after the game called him ' a clever little so-and-so'
-
Yeah he is very good; my post was in the context of the soundbytes that Ferguson - Mourinho - Mancini axis would have generated. Would've been tasty.
-
If Lewandowski is available, he'd be my first choice. If not, and we get Rooney instead, I wouldn't complain.

Which team are Chelsea's biggest rivals in England
Madmax replied to newman 8151's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Competitively - United. In terms of pure hatred - Liverpool. Not a 'rivalry' as such because we fight for different objectives; this is just bad blood. -
^ Munich was entirely his fault, I'll never sympathize with him for that.
-
Yes, Danny 'Doesn't Pass' Sturridge, the one who grabbed an assist that robbed us of 2 points.

Ferguson Moyes vs Mourinho vs Mancini Pellegrini Biggest letdown ever.

Yes. Nah, jk.

Firs things first, I said England, not the world. He is exposed quite a lot? We're watching different games then because I can't recollect occasions where too many wingers have skinned him on a consistent basis. Remains one of the best around, imo, in one v one situations. Baines' attacking play is better, I'll grant you that, and a part of that is down to how Everton play; most of their attacks come down the left where Baines and Pienaar are given free run. If you're talking numbers, of course Baines picks up more assists, but that's to be expected when he's their principal set piece taker. In fact, let's look at the numbers on whoscored : (defensive only) Tackles per game : Cole 2.1 vs Baines 2.4 Interceptions per game : Cole 1.4 vs Baines 1.5 Fouls committed per game : Cole 0.4 vs Baines 0.8 Offsides won per game : Cole 0.1 vs Baines 0.1 Clearances per game : Cole 2.6 vs Baines 2 Was dribbled past : Cole 0.6 vs Baines 0.6 Shots blocked per game : Cole 0.2 vs Baines 0.2 Hardly " Baines in comparison has been superior to Cole all angles this season and that is obvious", is it? At best, he is a marginally better tackler. But then, he also commits twice as many fouls. They're equal in terms of offsides won, one-v-one (thus, not 'exposed a lot of times') and blocked shots. Cole leads the way in terms of clearances, but that is obvious to any Chelsea watcher. Then you add in the fact that Baines is 4 years younger and Cole is playing with a dodgy ankle and it's not difficult to see how he is still the best leftback in E ngland
-
I don't know, I kinda prefer him not going forward so much. He's 32, has a problematic ankle, has recently come back from injury, etc. Having said that, he still played a part in the winner ...
-
While I can understand what you're saying, if we're going to have to rely on a 32 y.o fullback to provide attacking impetus even after spending 80 mn on attacking players over the year, that's not very good at all.
-
"Chelsea overpaid for Hazard" - Ferguson. LOL.
-
Only a 'bonus' for teams like Arsenal, who prioritize top 4 over trophies. We've sealed that CL spot, no excuse to not try and add to our silverware. Top 4 is NOT a trophy.
-
He's not going to be a world-beater and I guess competition for places never hurts. If this is true then i expect him to battle with Mikel and Ramires for a rotational place in that 4-3-3 Mourinho so loves. ---Mikel/Khedira--- ----Ramires/Khedira ----- Oscar/Player X ----
-
Khedira = a shit Ramires. Move on.
-
What, no love for Ashley after that performance at Villa? By far and away still the best leftback in England. Baines should worship the ground Cole walks on.
-
Loved how he won EVERYTHING against Bale the other night.
-
Plus being down to 10 men didn't help on the fatigue front. I feel he generally struggles (in relative terms) in stretched, end-to-end games like today. He's not built for these games.
-
Horrible defending but there's no way he should start alongside Terry; too similar. One of Ivan/Luiz + one of Cahill/JT would be ideal.
-
Jesus wept.

I did watch the game; I just happen to have a different opinion. I think Luiz is a good option in midfield against the not-so-great opposition teams, especially when you consider he hasn't been played there before too much in his career. Case in point - yesterday against Villa where his introduction stopped us wobbling badly considering the circumstances. However I will not blindly rave about the Tottenham game because I maintain he really wasn't that good. For what it's worth, I think Mikel-Luiz can be our best pivot option because Ramires and Lampard lack the discipline that job requires.

I was just posting something like that. Fucking embarrassing from the Villa support. Cheering a player's injury. Wankstains.
