I think he's a good defender to have for last-ditch, covering duties. Strong in the air, good tackler and puts in some desperate blocks. A stereotypical old school English centre half.
Torres represents Abramovich's biggest individual investment in the club (transfer fees + wages = 100m over the contract). Hence the persistence with him. The club is clearly run like a business and no business gives up on its heavy investments without sweating it out. Lampard represents no value for money.
Norwich have done a good job of pressing and denying space. Our best moments have come when we can get someone like Moses or Oscar to run with the ball. We have no joy when playing it to feet; invariably ends up going back again. The first goal was crucial here because it forces Norwich to come at us now. Luiz has been a treat to watch.
I'm more sentimental than most when it comes to Lampard but you can see the point about him not being value for money anymore. It's a business at the end of the day and it's no surprise Chelsea are being ruthless, living legend or not.
I don't know how many of you know the story of Uruguay's WC win in Brazil 1950 (Read here --> http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/soccer/world-cup-2010/writers/jonathan_wilson/07/04/uruguay.history/index.html) but us winning in Munich has a similar backdrop. Their city, their home, our cup.
I don't think his back-to-goal play is any good at all, really. That's essential for someone who wants to be a lone striker. That's something he shares with Walcott and it's led to me wondering whether getting Walcott would do us any good after all since the latter wants to play upfront too. Ideally, Sturridge would link up well with a battering ram alongside him, like Davies (Bolton) or Carroll. There's no one like that at Liverpool and I can't see Rodgers playing him alongside or in place of Suarez so out wide is where he will remain.
You can't expect a 100% conversion rate. Their keeper was in good form and was the difference between 8-0 and 10-0. Also, ruthlessness was displayed in terms of attitude; we didn't sit back on a comfortable lead.
