  1. well..i`ll be honest and say he pissed me off a bit when he was with us,well not so much when he was with us,him and Flo were brilliant in an epic 4-3 win in a midweek game at Ewood Park.etc..and he won us the away game in Copenhagen..i used to love him as a player..(tho not as much as his older brother Micheal) it was just the statement that he made when he left, that he was homesick..(he had lived outside of Denmark since he was 19) so they cancelled his contract for him, then shortly after returning to Denmark he ended up playing in Holland. however i`m not a heartless bastard, so i`ll bury that hatchet now. glad to hear its not the bad lymphoma..cause with the bad one he would have had no chance..but i know someone whose has the milder version and although he has spells where he looks frail and about to die, he has got better..and is still alive 18 years after first being diagnosed with it. good luck Brian.
  2. indeed and Italy won a World Cup with a GK as their captain, many GK`s are captains on the continent...it all depends on the player rather than the position tho..
  3. Aguero would have cost around £40 million and £160,000 a week in wages on his initial contract which would either be wasted if he flopped or we would have had to offer him a pay rise before his initial contract run out..i worked it out a few weeks ago and by my estimation if we bought Aguero and kept him until he was 30 ( for 8 years)..he would have cost us over £100Million. not really a deal i`d be comfortable with for just one player, who might not settle, produce the goods,or could have a career ending injury at any time and wouldn`t be a regular starter for us for the next two seasons at the earliest,anyway..and obviously neither were the men that matter at CFC. have said all this before on here..hope it sinks in this time.
  4. he`s gone..signed a 3 year deal with Wigan..fee undisclosed..
  5. Dermot is doing a fine enough job for me...he states that he was pleased to see our youth players muscle up to physically stronger opponents and now his coaching skills are being brought into question because of it......i recall Jose saying words to that effect on more than a few occasions, but i don`t recall anyone questioning his coaching skills.
  6. that would still arguably be the best back four in the premiership...if not the top one then certainly top 3.
  7. i hope we learn a useful lesson from this....that whilst loan moves can be beneficial...picking the wrong club to loan any particular player to, can totally derail a promising career. think this move would be best for all concerned...good luck to the lad,i hope he gets his career back on track..even if it means in 3 or 4 years time "experts" who only make comments after the event, saying that we should never have sold him.
  8. anyway...i went for Mikel. great idea Manuf..thanks for introducing it...be interesting to see who wins the most monthly awards over the course of the season..
  9. every one of them are worthy candidates..but the vote is just for one player..if it was who has played great ,with multiple options, then i`m sure Essien would had many votes, including one off myself, but thats not the case.
  10. who has said Kalou is out of this world? If people "praise" Kalou more it`s due to the fact that people call him useless or "Kalouless" when he clearly isn`t. a frustrating at times player who could sometimes do better, but far from useless Duff is more of a winger in a 4-4-2 than a "winger" in a 4-3-3, tho both him and Robben weren`t sold because Kalou is better than them, but because they were/are injury prone and we had acceptable offers for...Joe Cole was better "in his day" ..so was Pat Nevin but it`s only the present and future that matters now. Kalou is indeed a good impact player and good squad player to have who can play any position in the front 3 and doesn`t sulk when he doesn`t start like a possibly more skilled player would do..there are lots of ingredients that go into a cake..you can`t just use cherries, you need eggs and flour to bind it all together and that is where the likes of Kalou,Mikel,Zhirkov etc...come in.
  11. disappointed by the draw..as wanted a team we could play 4 or 5 youngsters in and still progress..
  12. I guess we could recall some of our loan outs if needs must...wouldn`t be surprised to see Billy Clifford get some first team action before xmas.
  13. am wondering what Andy Gray has been sniffing if he thinks Rangers will fancy going through in their group..would be cool to see them do it..but Man U ,Valencia & Bursaspor...i think they got no chance, with all due respect to them. feckin` Man U having the scottish opponent again. would have been awesome if we got them instead..and a true "battle of britain" with both of us being league champions.
  14. Slovakia it is then Zilina.. easy enough for the players..travelling for fans and the experience in general, not so easy...will have to google Zilina to see where exactly they are in Slovakia..what their ground is like etc...
  15. Marseille and Moscow..oh dear...all we need now is Partizan ,i thought group of death was supposed to be for the team, not the fans..
  16. lol at the Mic man saying...Milan of Italy..as if anyone wouldn`t know that.... oh great..we in the last group..so we gotta watch the whole show. Edit: is Arsenal in the last group (group H) we in group F
  17. oh well,i just gotta stay awake for the draw haven`t i..of all days to have it. lol ah,will have to google that one later...i only like crazy golf..well until i get to the bastard windwill...
  18. yeah same here....can`t wait to find out where i`m gonna be going in the next couple of months...love going to the bridge but is Chelsea away days that stir the blood most for me.
  19. Chelsea Real Madrid (tho anyone other than Marseille would be sweet..don`t fancy being gassed by their police again when i havent done anything to warrant it..) Ajax or Rangers (either one would be awesome for different reasons..either a battle of britain..or will be so stoned even if Chelsea lose i`d be grinnin` or failing that can always get Filthy McNasty on some scantilly clad exotic girl in a lil red room,to get the defeat out of my system ..) the last pot is a tricky one..if we get Rangers in pot 3..then i`ll go for Twente..if we get Ajax..then i hope for Auxerre or Bursaspor...surely they can`t be as hostile as Galatasary..
  20. ah come on guys..they can`t be footballers AND Mother Theresa.....they are only mere mortals not immortal saints on earth to save the worlds children. Drogba can be a sulky stereotypical french twunt on times...arguably cost us a CL title and shamed a fair few Chelsea fans with his tantrum in the globally watched title winning game last season...but i`m sure there`s not one Chelsea fan who would say we don`t want him because of it.
  21. knew you weren`t English but thought you were Spanish....is there no Costa Rica flag on here? if not i`d support the campaign to get it on here.... used to love Paolo Wanchope when he played for Derby ...would have his best games against Man U..then have a nitemare against us...thats the kind of opponents player i can get behind..
  22. it was his younger brother Brian unfortunately....tho is easy to get them mixed up i know...just Brian was a good player who was a huge disappointment for me when with us,with all that delayed by 9 years homesickness bullshit...where as Micheal was one of the best players on the planet, who proved it on the biggest stages in the `80`s.
  23. wasn`t replying to you in particular Zola..would have quoted you if i was(just so you and others know) i`ve been awake for over 30 hours,so tried to keep it short by using a sweeping generalization to try and cover a few comments made over a few posts in this thread, along with ones in others by various people. basically surrounding the lack of trust in Carlo...if Roman came on a CFC fan site to find out who to buy....Kakuta would never have been discovered by Chelsea,Essien and Drogba wouldn`t have been bought because they weren`t proven in a big league so their prices would have been too much,Aguero would be bought for £40M and on £160,000 a week and balls to the financial future..Ashley Cole wouldn`t have been bought because we didn`t need him as we already had Bridge,Robben wouldn`t have been bought because we had Duff, Ivanovic wouldn`t have been bought because he`s always played in a weak league,Cech wouldn`t have been bought because we already had Cudicini,Anelka would never have been bought because he has a reputation as a sulker etc... if you hire Michelangelo to paint a masterpiece on your ceiling and you have no experience of painting masterpieces on ceilings, you don`t tell him what he does or does not need to do it...you trust him and let him get on with it and although i`m not saying we should just sit back and make no comments of disagreement on anything Carlo does..just a little more faith and realization that he is far more equipped to tell what we do and do not need than anyone of us, from time to time...would make a refreshing change. if i was our manager and felt we needed an extra defender i would go for Serdar Tasci (a CB/RB like Ivanovic) rather than Srna..but it`s Carlo`s call and if Srna is his man, then so be it and i hope he`s successful in buying him...because if he don`t get the tools he believes he needs,it`s his head on the block if it goes tits up, not us. again..that last comment back in the other post wasn`t aimed at anyone in particular..just speaking in general. right off to bed now for me methinks....
