  1. After this window i think we'll be looking at a steady 2 maybe 3 transfers each summer and less in winter windows. Whilst not all our youth buys will pan out i believe they are bought more to become players for us than just products to sell at a later date so big spending will ease off in the future. They are prepared to pay big when the need is great.but moving forward they know you can't have too many of them. Getting back to Lavia,is not like we didnt show an interest in him until they did..we bid for him in January. So they making us pay more.it will work out fine.
  2. Match the bid and throw in a free loan or two of our youngsters. I heard Klopp has had some indication he may also prefer us.
  3. Wouldnt rule out getting both,i certainly would love to have both but if it's one then depends if we looking for who can help us immediately, and be at worse a great sub or someone who is soon to return, has less positional flexibility but can become one of the best in the world at his position. Olise is PL proven too and got a previous connection to Chelsea, born in same place as me.etc..Also gonna regret for years if Man City get him instead, where as Kudus is quality his ceiling isn't so high.both should improve in time but both already have enough quality for us.
  4. When we sell Caicedo it will be to our sister frog club when he's 34 for a pound,to become their player manager.
  5. Wish Jim Bowen was still alive for the presentation with his infamous sadistic Bullseye line "come and have a look at what you could have won" towards the away end.
  6. They got English clubs banned from Europe for 7 years and yet they want more. Maybe i was wrong about the city of liverpool being a slum of work shy scum.if they think putting a higher bid to Brighton is gonna change Moises mind about not wanting to join them they are infact just a bunch of unemployable window lickers.
  7. Altho Poch played 4-2-3-1 in pre-season,looks like really we going for the slightly different 4-3-3 as we really not targetting a proper 10 and didnt really have one before the Nkunku injury.maybe was just using 4-2-3-1 to give certain players a look. But 4-3-3 (with it's variants) will be the primary formation.
  8. People talk bout us needing a new kante but for me i'd settle for a prime Matic or Makalele type if we gonna persist with the double pivot.even Kante wasnt ideal for that role, don't really want someone chasing the ball like a spaniel, want someone to sit and guard, sniff out danger and snuff it out. Doesn't even need to be a tackle machine to be an effective DM. Blocking passing lanes is a skill that isnt shown on a stat sheet but important all the same.
  9. 10 year old Chelsea boys in '86 who grew up on John Bumstead didn't really look at such things so clinically..
  10. Wait and see who we spend the money saved on..hopefully dive in and snatch Kudus, then Lavia or Zubimendi. And still have money left over.
  11. We were linked with Platini in the papers around '86..that was my first broke my cherry burst my bubble..think he retired instead.ha
  12. For what it's worth according to sussexworld.Brighton's deal for Kudus looks to be off as player and club haven"t agreed a deal.
  13. Only really were 3 options (RJ,Silva,Chilly) but all 3 for various reasons unlikely to start every game. Did think for year 1 under Poch would be Silva.but either way all good, isn't as important to make the right hire at captain in football as it is in cricket or on a ship.
  14. Dortmund,Porto,Ajax etc..won multiple national titles and European cups but understand their place as stepping stone clubs.they have ambition but they understand to be attractive to young talent you gotta sell them when they ready to go for a fair price or they no longer gonna attract them. Brighton qualify for a minor european tournament for the first time and lose their minds. Good one Kudus..hope we secretly sign him but only announce after we've signed Moises.
  15. I do wonder what Woy has planned for Hall.may not get the desired minutes if he's going to be in the LB mix but they in need more at other positions Hall can play. Likewise with CC. Winks and Dewsbury- Hall( who scored twice on the weekend) look to be ahead of him atleast for now. Both clubs develop young players well but when look closer their current situations could be an issue.would prefer CC going to Southampton replacing Ward-Prowse for example.
  16. Competition for every position.nobody is untouchable, and if some were Sanchez wouldnt be one of them.no more Rob Green's please.
  17. Just read that Adams deal may end up being loan with option slightly higher than release clause. That would be better than straight buy atleast..
  18. Had forgotten about the cat bully..was just thinking bout Essien,Jorginho and Enzo.
  19. 4,7, and 9 being left available for our soon to be signed. 5 being a defenders number for the first time in over 20 years.would have liked Colwill to get that but JT's number and since squad numbers came in we do have lots of success in the 20's with Zola,JT,Eidur,Azpi,RJ,Chilly etc...same with Gusto ideally would have had 2. Cucu shouldnt be given a number let alone 3. Edit: i see 7 was given to Sterling.your post shows up so dark on my screen i didn't see that.
  20. Signing Tyler Adams is the football equivalent of going into Lidl just for pasta and coming out with a sun dial from the infamous middle aisle..he's not someone they really wanted but taken in by the supposed bargain price.
  21. Only Keeper and CF where we will potentially pay big in the near future(although may not need too if our young grow good there) Sure Caicedo is overpriced,we could have got another good DM/CM plus another good player at another position for his likely cost but overall i'd say we are ahead due to players we've got as bargains in the current market, our investment in young players and players coming through our youth system far outweighs paying 30m or so over the odds for Caicedo. And we still likely to buy 1-3 others.
  22. Am thinking he'll do that too.gotta crowd midfield but easy to switch between the 2,aslong as the CAM isnt a lazy sit in the pocket type,he can be the point in a MF 3 too.
  23. Ides of march was sooo italian.they haven't evolved much. :)
  24. Same birthday as me..although i was 27 the day he plopped out. too soon but ,potentially Disasi could be our last CB signing for 10 years with Colwill,BB,Humphreys and Gilchrist on the books.
