  1. I feel sorry for Cech.. With Wenger as his manager, he's never going to beat us
  2. Yeah, it's strange isn't it? But the GK position is one where I guess a goalkeeper doesn't mind being second fiddle at a big club because they will get a good amount of exposure, knowing a single keeper won't play the entire season and it's only really a 2-man position in the overall matchday squad. And definitely agree to the latter. Years of having Hilario have been bad enough, I still continue to remember his howlers especially against Man City
  3. That's exactly why I don't think he should come here. He's actually a great goal keeper and I think there's many places, even in Europe, where he'd go and be their #1. But if he wants to come, it would be a great line up of Thibaut-Asmir as #1-#2
  4. Agreed, Arsenal's squad on the whole looks full of depth and quality. There's an argument that Cech could be the final piece of the puzzle, though I think they're about 3 WC signings away from that. I still think that Wenger will continue to be Arsenal's downfall, him and their atrocious luck with injuries/their lack of an outstanding medical department. Jose's no fool though, he's going to see Arsenal's ambition & actions in this window and reciprocate them (I HOPE). Last summer Chelsea clearly were the winners in astute, quality, timely signings as well as appropriate loan recalls. The window is technically still closed and we can only really hope that deals are being done in the background that the media is being shunned out of, it's not past Chelsea to carry out business like this.
  5. Meh, I don't really care now. I just hope this club pulls of some extraordinary signings between now and September that means Arsenal can sign whoever the f*ck they want, but still won't challenge.
  6. Me neither and I made that point in reply to someone in the general transfers thread. He may not, but we don't want to help him strengthen that team and do the improbable.
  7. What's underestimated by a lot of people is this current Arsenal team. I mentioned it in another post, but at the rate they're going (making big name signings) they're not far off from being title rivals. Giving them Cech on a platter is just filling another position they desperately require filling. After that they need a few players here and there, a half decent medical team and next thing you know they're pushing us for the title.
  8. Agreed. While this may be an unpopular opinion, I stand by it. We should do everything to keep Cech away from Arsenal, even if that means he sees out his contract.
  9. Atrocious. As much of a legend he is, the club should've said no.
  10. Well it seems it's done. I do hope he regains his form at the Copa America & become the lethal striker we all dreamed he would be at Atletico.
  11. And I would've got away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids!
  12. You know what's a shame? You could, arguably, put Diaby in that category of players who would've been outstanding if it wasn't for injuries. You know, the Ledley Kings of this world? Now King is in a league of his own and it's debatable if an injury-free Diaby would've been as good. He showed signs early on in his Arsenal career, but it's simply too late for a big club to take such a punt. In 9 years, Diaby's had over 40 injuries. It's tragic and a great waste of talent, but we have to be practical in these times..
  13. Expected. I'm sure he won't be alone there..
  14. It would be unnerving if Chelsea sold Oscar without buying an adequate replacement. Fab in the permanent number 10 is an interesting proposition however.
  15. Generally I agree with you. But I've got one now which I use for my direct debits, which I then pay off by debit at the end of the month. Keeps my credit check healthy and hopefully will benefit me in the future when applying for a mortgage etc.
  16. Definitely in agreement with you. A few years ago I wouldn't have, didn't think Walcott would amount to the hype he'd received when Sven took him to the World Cup. Injuries and various factors played their part, but in the last 3-4 seasons (when not injured) he's been dangerous and intelligent on the ball. Some of his goals, in the striker position, have been works of beauty and I think the one against Newcastle sums it up perfectly. Now is the time to pounce for Walcott too. He's yet to sign a contract extension (again) and Arsenal want Big Pete. They've got enough squad depth to compensate for losing him and truth be told, it seems like Wenger wouldn't be too pissed losing him. Not to mention, he hates Spurs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL3UapnxHyY
  17. Luis deserves to go somewhere where he's going to play consistently. You have to respect him for not ever sulking or showing frustration at lack of game time, he must see that Dave is putting in some great shifts at LB. While the argument of whether he should have ever been signed might remain, the fact is he will leave here with a English domestic double to his name.
  18. Oh nice, not too far from myself and @The Skipper since we're both at Birmingham Funny you should mention NTU because I was actually weighing up either that or where I am now when I initially was deciding. There are times where I wish I went NTU, but Uni is what you make of it. As long as I get my 2:1/1st at the end of my degree, that's all I need.
  19. Good stuff, still at UoN? Just finished my second year, after my setbacks not too many years ago I picked myself up and got on with it, in Law. Hopefully it's gone well and then the daunting prospect of final year to come
