This. The squad is limited and Conte is not this "magical mastermind" some people thought he was, or an italian version of Mourinho MK1. Before the seasons started I said it would be really difficult to even get a top 4 finish and the the likes of @Polo7 were saying we would definetely finish in top 4, as it was something that would be easily achieved. Finishing in 4th will be a HUGE achievement for Conte, but he is not helping himself with some decisions that make him look like Gyro Gearloose.

The result against Liverpool was not great, but one thing you got to love about Conte: after the game he wans't trying to create silly controversies, he wasn't blaming players or creating scapegoats. Thats a completely different thing from what we got in past seasons...

Too early, but things are not looking good for Mourinho this season. Guardiola is finally in Premier League, and his City side is looking so good and exciting (I'm even watching their games) and is set to dominate the league, while its obvious United got huge problems. The problem is Mourinho is not used to those situations. Chelsea was a UCL semi final and runner up Premier League side when he arrived, Inter was dominating the league, and Real one of the most powerful squads in the game. Ok, when he came back to Chelsea, we were 4th in PL, and the he improved to 3rd, then finally won the league. The problem is he completely destroyed a promissing squad in the process, and when he left the team was actually a botton table side. For Mourinho it will be a huge blow if Guardiola becomes a huge success while he fails with United.

No one wants Conte's head.

Easily the most optimistic guy around.

Why the press talk about Terry as he still is a solid and great CB is beyond me. The only reason must be some kind of bias related with Terry being one of the few English defenders playing for top clubs in Premier League. Right after the game I've read in some paper a talk about the team suffering from Terry's absences. Actually for the past season we kept conceding stupid goals, and Terry was involved in most of those matches. Terry is one of the reasons this defense is not solid. Against Swansea team conceded 2 goals and he was around.

24 de set - Premier League Arsenal x 13:30 Chelsea 1 de out - Premier League Hull City x 11:00 Chelsea 15 de out - Premier League Chelsea x 08:30 Leicester City 23 de out - Premier League Chelsea x 13:00 Manchester United ________________________________________________________________________________________ Next games are not looking good. There is a good chance we don't get more than 2 points in next 4 games, and that will mean 3 points 6 games.

Game today wasn't a close match decided by small details or a superb goal as you are suggesting. We were outplayed for most part of the game, first minutes of 2nd half aside.
-
There is also a chance Roman will be checking Hiddink's number in his contact list and preparing to release a dreaded vote of confidence...

I'm really shocked. Matic is a DM, a very one dimensional one, that can do great things playing in a very specific role, why in the hell is Conte using Matic as a box to box midfield is beyond me, while Fabregas is sitting on the bench game after game. Matic is not good enough to play in that role.
-
Come one guys, Cahill was far from terrible today. Lets use those posts when he is actually bad. The team today was shit due to losing the controle in the midfield, and Cahill did not wrong in both goals from Liverpool.
-
And think you were also saying years ago that Atletico's team was easily better than ours in that UCL semi final, after the team was completely outplayed. Liverpool's squad is also average, and everyone who know about the game realizes it. The difference today was very simple: Klopp is a better manager. Conte is a gamble, and just like AVB until he is getting more praise for wild celebrations than anything else. Lovren is no better than Cahill, Henderson is a very limited player and Milner is solid but far from special. Our squad is really limited, but so is Liverpool's one. The result today was not a result of a bad squad playing against a very good one, as some people are saying. Its weird when people are saying Conte is so unlucky because he didn't get the likes of Nainggolan (good player, but nothing special). If we have a manager that need a Nainggolan tier to get a decent game, then we are definitely fucked. Im basically saying Conte should do better with the current squad. Bringing the quality of the squad in a thread about Conte is no more than an attempt to create excuses, even if you dont want to.
-
Dont twist my words. I just said that the quality of the players don't explain why Liverpool dominated the game for most part. Ok, you might see Firmino. Llalana, Coutinho, "dutch fella" and Clyne as better players than Oscar, Willian, Hazard, Ivanovic and Matic, but they are not way better. Actually, most of the pundits would agree thats the other way (our starting XI is better than Liverpool's one). This is squad is decent enough to have a good game against Liverpool, but that never happened. The team barely created, and when pressed barely defended.
-
Its just you being hypercritical towards your own team. Conte was shit today and was shit against Swansea.
-
So, they are so bad that you cant beat Swansea with them, or even play decent football against a not so stellar Liverpool side?
-
Even if Diego had equalized, whats different from what we have seen during Hiddink tenure? I remember some games of "fighting spirit": last minute equalize against Unite, that Spurs game, and I think you are being a little optimistic about the current form being enough for a top 4 finish. United, City and Arsenal are definitely finishing on top 4, and I'm really impressed with Liverpool. They had the hardest table in first 5 games, and got 6 points in away games against Arsenal and Chelsea. Finishing between 5th and 6th is the reality of this team, in my opinion, and it would be really hard to see Conte surviving such a finish.
-
Are you so sure we will "definitely" finish top 4", or are you just retarded?
-
Liverpool had a shit season, but they showed a "positive direction". Instead of "dead-wood" being banished, I would like to see Conte making those players still producing at least some kind of football. Believe me, the likes of Ivanovic, Matic and Oscar are far from world class players, but they are not so bad that could be used as an excuse for shit football.

Conte was gamble. When he was announced, many people tried to picture him as a genius, and he is not. At least no yet. His job with Italy NT has nothing to do with club stuff. Managing clubs and NTs are different animals. Dont tell me he did great with Juventus, because Juve is miles ahead of other teams in terms of money and structure at the moment, so winning Seria A 3 times in a row with Juventus don't turn Conte in a great manager. I'm not saying (yet) he is a fraud or must be fired. Just take a look at last weekend game between United and City. United is not a Mourinho side yet. Far from solid at the back, conceding way too many chances to City, and City is also far from solid, and their passing is still far from what you would expect from a Guardiola's side. This Chelsea is not a Conte side yet, but I'm really worried about his in game decisions. After 5 games, I cant tell I've never seen a manager making such stupid decisions like he is doing. In that aspect, until now he is worse than Scolari, AVB, RDM, Ranieri, Mourinho, Hiddink, Grant, Mourinho and even Rafa Benitez. I mean, the mean is getting outplayed the whole game, and we are entering in 77th minute with not a single sub. I mean, WTF? He is not even changing the players role in the pitch, the team basically keep using the same rigid tactics. His team selection is also weird. Mourinho basically had the same line up (Matic, Fabregas; Oscar, William, Hazard; Costa), and when he wanted a more solid midfield he only changed Ramires for Oscar, but Conte is even worst. Same line up, no matter who he is facing. For the usual suspects, don't start with the "this squad is not good enough" bullshit. That would be a valid point if we were talking about a game against City or even United. This was a game against Liverpool. Liverpool's starting XI today was not even close of being stronger than ours. Conte was completely outclassed by Klopp.
-
Too early to say, but Im getting an AVB feeling.
-
Team crating 0 chances. 13minutes left. Losing the game. No subs yet. Great.
-
Conte himself must do a lot better and prove himself as a CFC quality manager.
-
Is Liverpool full of world class players?
-
Come on. Liverpools squad is also full of average players. We are being outplayed by Liberpool, not City or United. Fabregas on the bench, team playing with 2 DMs, and despite that, Liverpool dominating the game.
