Previous form shouldn't be talked about when one is criticizing a player's performance in a specific match. Oscar was amazing for us at the start of the season and I read it was a consensus he was pretty poor today (even if due to an injury). So previous form doesn't give a free pass to a player when he has a bad match. A poor performance is a poor performance regardless of previous or current streak of form. Of course you don't dismiss a player within one a poor performance - which isn't what you implied, but you can say even Messi or Ronaldo, let alone Hazard had a poor match if that's the case. Willian should improve his attacking instincts. Sometimes I feel he is afraid of shooting or trying to score a goal. We had selfish players in the past, but I think Hazard is the perfect example of player that really knows when he has to shoot and when he has to pass. Willian has been one of our best players this season, but its just shocking when you realize he only got 2 goals. I dont remember how many times, instead of shooting, he pass the ball to Ivanovic, who usually kills the attack at the first opportunity he has.

I really dont know what you are finding hard to understand. My point is very simple: a better player doesn't always play better than a worse one, and sometimes the "worse" is "better" for what a team needs. We had many examples in the past. Just take a look at Shevchenko or Torres. They were proven players in their clubs but the just failed to produce the performance people were expecting. So, as the other guy said, Matic was one of the best players in portuguese league, but I dont mind, because he needs to be a good player for Chelsea, and what I'm trying to say, and I expect you will understand now is: how big is Matic impact in the team? Whats the difference between having Matic or Mikel as our DM in terms of results? The best example was our team last season. Mata, Oscar and Hazard. Really fun to watch sometimes, you cant deny they have better technics than Kalou, Malouda, Anelka, but at the end of the day Mazacar were no better than Kalouda/Anelka/Malouda.

Matic is better than Mikel as player, and I dont think anyone in the world will question that. As you said, Ramires weaknesses are well known, but its strange that months ago people were happy with his game, but now people want a better player because of Matic. This is what I find really odd.

It doesnt matter. Not enough matches to evaluate player consistence. If you take 4 Torres matches in a row you might think he has been superb, but as soon as you see the bigger picture you will realize that the real story is really different.

Thats really strange, because besides the match against City I really dont know why people think Matic is that special. I think he played no more than 4 or 5 matches.
