Yes to the latter, that's exactly why I'd have Mikel play - City are very big on their passing game so naturally you'd want someone who can disrupt that. I don't want Mikel to mark anyone at all (nor Zouma tbh), that'd be suicide. It'd be naive to just focus on Yaya tbh, they can damage us in a lot of other ways. If we want to man mark Yaya we should put Matic on him, he can deal pretty well with him as we've seen before. City have too much talent going forward for us to focus on just individually man marking any player. We need someone who can sit in front of the defence and plug holes intelligently and Mikel is the best player we have for that.

I definitely agree with your sentiment, however I feel like if we want someone to patrol the space between midfield and defence then Zouma is just an unnecessary option to even have considering Mikel and even Ramires are better at doing that than he is. He's not a DM at all IMO. Personally I'd even play Chalobah ahead of him there.

He really is, just exactly like that. Concentration is very poor, he's very slow and has done some questionable things. People don't really watch the Bundesliga so they don't see it often but he really is the same type of player Luiz is.

Not buying this. Last season we had quick, proactive defenders in Zouma, Luis and Azpi, which could've allowed us to make a backbone of Luis - Terry - Zouma - Azpi. How often did we actually see this? Rarely if ever.He's certainly had the options to play a quicker, more proactive back line but he refused to.

The days we used to have players like KDB, Mata, Schurrle on the bench... Gone. Quite sad tbh. I'm not sure I like the direction this team is going.
