Joelinton pictured in Newcastle United shirt ahead of £40million club record switch from Hoffenheim https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/joelinton-pictured-newcastle-united-shirt-16632904 Newcastle United will announce a record-breaking deal for striker Joelinton as they kick off their summer recruitment with the biggest transfer in the club’s history. The Brazilian forward has been pictured at St James’ Park in the club’s home shirt after the Magpies agreed a £40million deal for the striker. That smashes the previous barrier held by Michael Owen – but which could have been beaten by the winter deal for Miguel Almiron depending on certain stipulations being met. Joelinton has been given a tour of St James’ Park and an announcement is imminent for the deal that Newcastle have been working on for months. snip

Arsenal offer Reiss Nelson on loan in £65m bid for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/22/arsenal-offer-reiss-nelson-loan-65m-bid-crystal-palace-ace-wilfried-zaha-10438171/ Arsenal have raised their bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha by offering £65million plus Reiss Nelson on loan. The Gunners have been frustrated in their pursuit of the Ivory Coast winger and have had two bids rejected by the Eagles. Palace have already made £55m from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to Manchester United and are under no financial pressure to sell Zaha, who they value at £90m. Arsenal had offered the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Mohamed Elneny and Calum Chambers in previous discussions with Palace but the Independent claim they’ve now offered highly-rated youngster Nelson. Nelson thrived last season on loan at Hoffenheim and had been expected to form part of Arsenal’s first team squad this term. The report claims Arsenal’s new bid is around £55m up front, as well as £10m further in add-ons. Palace are understood to have rejected the proposal as they want a far larger fee for Zaha and they also want any player coming the other way to move permanently. snip

Frank Lampard to trim his Chelsea squad by sending highly-rated defensive duo out on loan https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/23/frank-lampard-trim-chelsea-squad-sending-highly-rated-defensive-duo-loan-10447755/ Frank Lampard will allow England U21 defenders Fikayo Tomori and Jake Clarke-Salter to leave Chelsea on loan for the upcoming season after assessing his defensive options. It looks as though Lampard has settled on having David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma as his four specialist central defenders next season. Everton had expressed an interest in re-signing Zouma following a successful loan spell at Goodison Park last season but Lampard is keen to retain the Frenchman’s services. With Cesar Azpilicueta also able to deputise in central defence, neither Tomori nor Clarke-Salter will be required next season, despite both being well thought of at Stamford Bridge.

Callum Hudson-Odoi agrees deal to stay at Chelsea https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49091233 Callum Hudson-Odoi has agreed a five-year deal worth more than £100,000 a week to stay at Chelsea. The England winger, 18, handed in a transfer request in January after Chelsea rejected a £35m bid from Bayern Munich. But he is set to sign a new contract before the start of the season. The youngster is understood to have been encouraged by positive words from new manager Frank Lampard, who said he wanted Hudson-Odoi to stay. The teenager, who is recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in April, is on track for a quick return to action, potentially as soon as September. More to follow thank fuck

I agree 100% only keepers in the world atm I would take over Kepa Jan Oblak Alisson Ederson and perhaps De Gea (and not last years De Gea) finally maybe Marc-André ter Stegen ( and thinking bout it, nope) that is it Kepa's distribution is superb and I am not worried about his shot stopping so many were spoilt by Cech at 1.96m and crazy reflexes all those above are around the same size, 1.87m to 1.89m except Alisson is 1.91m Cuntois was super tall and he got beat like a rug low and his distribution is shit compared to Kepa would I rather have peak Cech? yes but peak Cech is better than any other keeper in the world atm and he is retired (Buffon should hang it up too) I am much more worried about backup keeper Willie makes me nervous as fuck finally, there were people here (and all over the web) advocating we buy Pickford, ffs THAT would have made me slam my head though plate glass people flipping out of £71m pull 15 or 20m off that and no one would bat an eye we pissed way 35-40m lost value not selling Cuntois a year earlier, fucked off 70m with Drinkwater, 65m with Wilian no sale, 50m no sale with Alonso etc etc etc etc 15m or 20m overpay is drop in the bucket

the relationship that you had in college where neither party wanted to break up with the other because neither person felt like exerting the effort to end it lolololol Gareth Bale https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2019/7/23/20703821/bayern-munich-gareth-bale-jerome-boateng-christian-eriksen-james-rodriguez-real-madrid-nicolas-pepe Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reversed course a bit and blamed some of the statements he’s had on his “suspect” Spanish — which is rather hilarious given the reports of Bale’s own suspect (or rather MIA) Spanish:
-
he will get more MF time than at CB he has 3 good (2 great) CB's in front of him

de Ligt would not have come here so I am not going to lose sleep over him atm the 4 we should have made moves on last summer were Lucas Hernández (I still like him as a LB but he is so not leaving Bayern anytime soon, he will be their next superstar back) or José Giménez (still at AM and will cost INSANE now, plus AM will never cough him up now that they lost LH and Godin) or Milan Skriniar (renwed at Inter) or Éder Militão (now at RM) leaving for summer 2020 Ibrahima Konaté <<<< my number one (as of now) 2020 target at CB (unless he regresses at RB Leipzig, which I so doubt) and number 2 Rúben Dias at Benfica (I think he might still be there next summer) number 3 Evan N'Dicka at Eintracht Frankfiurt number 4 Boubacar Kamara at Olympic Marseille number 5 Dan Axel Zagadou at Dortmund

Bulka is not that good at distribution only reason he gets people excited is he is 1.99m if he was all that and a bag of chips we would have binned Willie and handed the backup GK kit to him in terms of young Polish keepers I would take Bartlomiej Dragowski over Bulka all day long

lol, that article was taking the piss 3. Chelsea really needs to move some Willian kits Real talk; how many Willian kits are in the wild? Now compare that to how many Hazard kits there were and how many Christian Pulisic kits there will be when the club finally announces his number (we Matt Miazga kit owners demand answers! There are dozens of us!). The answer is not many and Chelsea is likely sitting on a lot of Willian kits. Slap a new number on the back and suddenly there is an interest. Or not. Chelsea will try regardless. 4. Barcelona love buying other teams’ 10s Willian has been linked to Barcelona for a few windows now but nothing has come of it. But all Chelsea needs to do is declare him the 10 and Barcelona will be dropping truckloads of money at Stamford Bridge. Barcelona love buying other teams’ 10s. They do not know where they are going to use him or how but they just gotta have all the 10s. Give the number to Willian and it will be like cat nip to the Spanish side. 8. He will likely be gone in a year and that will drive another media watch “who will be the 10” round of stories Without a transfer window, one of this summer’s hottest story lines has been who will get the 10. And like any good story line, the plot must be run into the ground until it loses all of its entertainment value. Willian will probably leave Chelsea sooner rather than later. If he is the 10, that has the added benefit of sparking an entirely new round of “who will be the 10”. Think of the drama! The clicks! The hashtag campaigns! 9. Chelsea fans really needed something to debate about other than Maurizio Sarri Overall, the Chelsea community has been feeling pretty good with Frank Lampard in charge. The only real point of contention has been continued argument over Maurizio Sarri and just how much he was pushed out as he walked out the door of his own volition. It has all got a bit stale what with so much repeated argument over Sarri and joy otherwise. Chelsea fans really needed something else to debate on and who better than Chelsea’s new (un?)deserving 10.

Frank Lampard gives latest N'Golo Kante injury update after Chelsea's win over Barcelona The Chelsea midfielder has not featured in pre-season so far https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/players/ngolo-kante-injury-frank-lampard-16632508 Frank Lampard confirmed that it was his decision to send N'Golo Kante back to England but is hoping to have the Chelsea midfielder back with the squad soon. The 28-year-old World Cup winner has not fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered before the Europa League final back in May. While Kante has been with the squad through much of the summer, the Frenchman is yet to have any minutes on the pitch in Lampard's four games in charge so far. Kante was flown home before the 2-1 win over Barcelona, so that he could recover from the injury quicker and continue his rehabilitation back at the training ground. Of course, Kante is going to be a massive part of Lampard's plans in the future, especially with the Blues taking on Manchester United in the first Premier League game of the season. And Lampard is hoping to have him back as soon as possible with three pre-season matches left. "Yeah, he is okay," Lampard said about Kante's condition. "It was a decision that I made because I felt that him being here, with the facilities and the moving, travel etc. that we have been doing, it probably wasn't the most beneficial for him. "He went back, has had a few days at Cobham, working well, progressing, so hopefully by the time that we get back at the end of the week I will sit down with the doctor to hpoefully know that he will be back with us very soon." snip

Nicolas Pepe deal ‘almost done’ as Man Utd and Liverpool-linked winger nears Lille exit NICOLAS PEPE’s time with Lille is “almost done” and the forward has “big offers” from across Europe. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1156758/Nicolas-Pepe-Man-Utd-Liverpool-Lille-Premier-League That is what Lille president Gerard Lopez has confirmed, with Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all linked with the winger. Pepe supplied 23 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches across all competitions last term as Lille finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. That has seen the 24-year-old tipped to take the next step, with United believed to have watched the player’s progress while Liverpool have also been linked. The European champions dismissed rumours last month, with reports indicating club chiefs branded the speculation as “pure lies” with sporting director Michael Edwards also said to have phoned Lille boss Christophe Galtier to declare that Liverpool have no interest to act upon. snip I think he is soon at Manure, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
