  2. Friday December 20 2019 Football Nerd Taking out Traore is the only way to stop him By Alistair Tweedale, Football Writer Spurs took to dirty tactics to stop Adama Traore last week CREDIT: REUTERS On Saturday afternoon, it is Norwich's turn to attempt the impossible. It is time they take their turn to try to stop Adama Traore. Wolves' flying winger is in such unstoppable form at the moment that last weekend's opponents, Tottenham, persistently resorted to illegal tactics against him. Their approach worked, but it was hugely frustrating for Traore and Wolves, who ended up losing a game that they might well have got a result from had Spurs' cynical efforts brought harsher punishments. There is an interesting debate to be had about whether "taking one for the team" might deserve more than a booking but for the time being scything down an opponent with no intention to play the ball is worthy of just a yellow card. Defenders coming up against Traore know it. Traore is among the best dribblers in the Premier League. He has completed more successful take-ons this season than every other player bar Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, and he seems this season to be adding end product to his unquestionable ability on the ball, with three goals and three assists to his name. But with little idea of how to halt him, opposition defenders are simply taking Traore out. Three players - Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Harry Kane - were booked for fouls on the winger during 14 second-half minutes of last week's match as Spurs pushed for a winner and Wolves looked to counter, while Lucas Moura was lucky to escape being a fourth player to go in the book. In total this season, 17 players have been cautioned for fouls on Traore, which is three more than any other player (Zaha is unsurprisingly second) and one more than the entire Burnley squad. With 17 yellow cards drawn from opponents, Traore has already equalled the highest tally over the whole of 2017/18, when Richarlison led the way, and is just three off last season's best, when Eden Hazard, Diogo Jota and Zaha all prompted 20 bookings. Wolves' frustration at Traore's rough treatment is completely understandable, but until there is a change in the laws, teams will keep on accepting a yellow card in order to keep tricky players away from their goal. via an email no link

  7. Was bound to happen: Valencia draw exposes Isco’s inconsistency https://footballbh.net/2019/12/17/valencia-draw-exposes-isco-inconsistent/ Isco has become an enigma in recent months and years. The Spaniard’s talent has never come under question at all. His performances have always been crucial to Real Madrid’s successes over the seasons, but things have been changing. The tides have been shifting and Isco is seemingly not as important as he once was. Last year’s time under Santiago Solari was not a pretty one. Under a manager who wanted tactical rigidity, Isco would never play regularly. For a player who likes to float about in the final third, it never worked in his favour. Last season, he had only 11 starts to his name in the La Liga. He made only four appearances in the Champions League too, and he had a direct hand in just six goals in all competitions. That is never a pretty sight for a player like Isco. His inconsistencies can be highlighted by the recent showing against Valencia. Real were held to a 1-1 draw, as they couldn’t climb back up to the top of the La Liga. In the game, Isco was starting as the left-winger in a 4-3-3 shape. And it was a poor showing by all means. The former Malaga sensation couldn’t create a single chance and couldn’t pick out a single key pass. He was dispossessed twice, getting dribbled past just as many times for the Mestalla-based side. Numbers like that are very rare for Isco. But it is in stark contrast to the Deportivo game. Real won 2-1 and Isco was crucial. He didn’t complete a single key-pass, but he had two successful dribbles and three tackles to his name. It wasn’t as poor a performance as the Valencia one. He did well against Brugge as well. He completed one key pass, completing four dribbles as well. He won two tackles and made as many interceptions. It was a performance of promise. A one that somewhat showed some qualities that he has. Isco was never someone who would play too many key passes anyway. The highest number of key passes per game he played was in the 2013-14 campaign. That number stood at 2.2 back then. Since then, those numbers have been coming down and he has become more about quality than quantity of those creations. Perhaps, it was bound to happen. Him playing as low as 0.9 key passes per game was coming if the downfall in productivity has to be traced. And he isn’t as good a player he has always been. Especially during those golden spells around 2016 and 2017. Times have been moving on. It can well be said that the game too is moving on from Isco. He was never a bundle of pace and neither was he too physical. The game has become quicker and more physical. And possibly, Isco hasn’t been up to that level. snip

  9. just to be clear on the numbers I put up the totals were assuming we sell those listed BUT, again, many have already been sold as well some may not be sold, Azpi for one, and Willian is shaky, due to his contractual situation Hazard's total's included some of his bonuses being met that is why I gave myself 60m euros (£50m) wiggle room I only listed done deal sales and then very realistic price points for all the ones not sold off as of yet some of my prices are millions LESS than what the board is or was demanding (Baka, Alonso, Zappacosta, Baba, Musonda, Bats for instance) but the vast majority of those listed are are either done deals already or what the board has said they will sell for my maths are correct, there is no outrageous overpricing at all on players not yet sold, and again I did put in a large wiggle room Double my wiggle room (to £100m, ie 120m euros) and the final figures (and I DID price in the Kovacic buy already as I am only dealing with summer 2019 and forward completed or to come deals) and you still end up with a net sales intake of 544m euros (£465m) and even if we only see £110m out of Hazard at the end of the day, and get ZERO for Willian and Azpi (obviously the 3 biggest variances above) ever, that still leaves £495m (580m euros) Those numbers are not fake, they all are documented, and I NEVER claimed they included amortised salary spreadsheets. Transfer revenues do NOT disappear (some ridiculously have claimed in the past the monies can not be spent on a year over year basis and simply disappear from the books in terms of both accounting and availability, which is a ludicrous proposition especially when we are dealing with rolling multiyear spreadsheets for FFP purposes) The totals simply reflect the end of the day numbers if/when the deals go though, plus the many that already have been done, plus the resultant (when applicable) tallying up of future forward potential bonus payments (mainly Hazard) If someone tells you we have hundreds of millions less (literally) than my lowest numbers when it comes to infws and outslows in terms of transfer monies, they are flat out lying to you, I cannot cannot be more blunt. Monies (again this is ONLY an accounting of net transfer revenue with loan intakes subtracted from the ONE buy we have had so far starting from summer 2019, which was Kovacic) do NOT disappear from the rolling, area-specific spreadsheets once taken in. If you believe people who say they do, then I pity your financial planning (especially of you go to frauds who claim this tosh) likely outcomes in the real world. These frauds would have you believe (make NO mistake this is exactly what they have claimed) that the monies from the house you inherited and sold in 2017 for £800,000 clear after taxes/fees can no longer be counted amongst your assets as you failed to spend the monies gained within that fiscal year period. There are many others factors involved in the club's bottom line revenues (salaries, physical plant maintenance, insurance, staff, incomes from tickets, merchandise, image rights, telly rev, cups, the league and Europe, etc etc) I have NEVER once claimed to have an accurate overall bottom line picture, as I do not have access to the books. The club did announce record PROFITS however in their last fiscal year release. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/12/31/chelsea-fc-financial-results-show-record-revenues the next one should be out soon finally here is the info on Hazard Bear in mind we do NOT have to convert euros to pounds (hopefully we did so when we received the initial main payment as the GBP was weak then v the euro), as we can simply keep the funds (talking future bonus payments now as the pound has surged since last summer, but likely may crash out in the near to medium term future as the effects and uncertainties of Brexit start to impact yet again) in a euro-based account IF we think that the FOREX arbitrage will play out against us IF we convert to GBP at that time) I am certain the accountants are going to make the best possible moves in that arena to limit risk and potential revenue haemorrhage. https://www.transfermarkt.com/eden-hazard/profil/spieler/50202

  11. Chelsea 'launch Isco transfer offer' after making James Rodriguez decision Chelsea have submitted a bid to Real Madrid for Spain international playmaker Isco, which meets Florentino Perez's summer asking price https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-launch-isco-transfer-offer-21131151 Chelsea have launched a mega-money bid for Real Madrid playmaker Isco, it has been claimed. The 27-year-old has been in and out of the team since Zinedine Zidane return to the Bernabeu prompting Florentino Perez to look for a buyer. A promising performance in last night’s El Clasico stalemate could earn Isco a stay of execution but the Premier League club have slapped an offer on Perez’s desk. According to El Desmarque , Chelsea slapped in a £44.4m (€52m) offer for the Spain international on Monday. Perez is considering the proposal despite it meeting the asking price he set for Isco in last summer’s transfer window. snip we ¨would get one full sub 30yo season out of him SMDH I say hard pass, this is not a future-forward smart move after David Silva leaves in 6 months, these are the only 30yo and over AMF's in the EPL after them the next oldest are Roberto Pereyra, Marco Stiepermann, and De Bruyne at 28
  12. surely we must exercise this crazy low option and give the lad a full shot I 100% approve of this path his t-fee cost is LESS than what we paid the dreadful Higs for 3 months of SALARY

  14. Inter looking at Petagna as alternative to Giroud: the idea https://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/inter-looking-at-petagna-as-alternative-to-giroud-the-idea-93232 Inter are still searching for backup for striker Romelu Lukaku and an alternative to Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been identified, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com today. The report details how the Nerazzurri appreciate the need for more attacking depth in the squad and due to the risk, that the club won’t be able to secure the signature of Giroud, they have been considering alternatives. Andrea Petagna of SPAL has now been noted as a potential option. The Nerazzurri have been discussing the player with his club, the report highlights, although due to SPAL’s precarious position in the league table they may be hesitant to lose their main striker. Inter are working out how to convince the club to lose the Italian forward, but are still hoping to secure either Petagna or Giroud in January as they look to continue the fight with Juventus for the league title this season. snip

  17. Report: Dortmund name price for Jadon Sancho https://www.chelsea-news.co/2019/12/report-dortmund-name-price-jadon-sancho/ England international Jadon Sancho has been THE talk of town in the footballing world, and he has quickly become a very sought after 19-year old. There are a host of clubs who have been linked with making a move for Sancho in January, including Chelsea, with claims they are set to offer £100 million for his services. However, according to former player turned Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, Dortmund will demand £127 million for Sancho, and will not sell him until the summer. snip 150m euros so if the pound tanks versus the euro, that £127m figure will increase I said he would cost around £100m to the more likely amount £120m, so was not far off (on the high end, unfortunately) I do not see the board dumping this type of cash out (hell I had doubts on my original figures) there are probably only 5 possible clubs he will end up at RM, Barca, Manure, Shitty, or PSG the usual suspects

  19. the bastard is learning on the job, and will soon get massive reinforcements at left fullback and DMF and AMF and CF and CB plus will sell Pogba (troublemaker) for huge money and perhaps grab Saul and I still say an Arab consortium backed by 100 billion or more (not that they will spend more than 6 to 10 billion over a ten year period, stadium rebuild and club price included) will snap them up eventually It is going to come down to us, Manure, Spuds and maybe Arse and/or Wolves for 4th to 7th 5 teams, 4 places, with only one of them CL and the 5th team devastatingly missing all of Europe (unless they win the FA Cup or the EL)
  20. I am in your camp hopefully we are all pleasantly surprised
  21. goals matter he scores a lot of them in the EPL and all comps some is down to Pep's system but he does score at rates far above other targets we are looking at and I did not mention cost I have no clue what would be his price probably above what we will be willing to pay technique-wise I see a lot of skill there with him as well I highly doubt shitty would sell to us anyway, they will not strengthen a prime opponent so the entire discussion if probably moot
  22. If Tammy doesn't hit 20 this season that means he will only score 6 (or less) more goals in the next 25 or so games (could be more if we go deeper in the FA Cup and CL.) Even if you are talking 20 league goals, a failure there to hit 20 means he scores 8 (or quite possibly less) in the next 21 EPL games. IF those scenarios happen, forget top 7 (unless we somehow buy an ace striker in January who benches Tammy and/or a monster winger)
  23. i do not think we have the offensive players atm other than Tammy and Pulisic and maybe Mount (who is pants lately) for this offensive football. Willian, Pedro, Barkley, Bats, Giroud, and unfortunately an atm still-damaged CHO are simply not capable as of right now. RLC remains out . Hopefully we bring in somebody in January.
