RB Leipzig's Timo Werner: "I've become more versatile under Julian Nagelsmann" https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/timo-werner-i-ve-become-more-versatile-under-julian-nagelsmann-rb-leipzig-8803 "Left, right or through the middle, I know you'll score goals." RB Leipzig's Timo Werner (l.) has taken his game to another level under Julian Nagelsmann (r.). - © getty images Timo Werner has credited RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann for his prolific run of form in front of goal this season. Werner, 23, scored twice to take his overall tally for the 2019/20 campaign to 18 as Bundesliga leaders Leipzig came from 2-0 down in a pulsating 3-3 draw with title rivals Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 16. The Germany international is now level with Bayern Munich counterpart Robert Lewandowski - the league's leading marksman in each of the past two campaigns - at the head of the scoring charts. In his first three seasons at Leipzig, he registered 21, 13 and 16 goals respectively. "I've become more versatile under Julian Nagelsmann, and have already played in a number of positions," Werder explained after scoring more than one goal in a single Bundesliga match for the fifth time this season. "I haven't just played out on the left or right like today against BVB, but also as a No.10 or lone striker. "My role was to try to pull the Dortmund defence out of position. It didn't go so well in the first half, but was better in the second." snip

Spanish outlet El Desmarque reports that the Blues are one of several teams eyeing the La Liga winger. It is believed that they are joined by Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers, who could all be a possible destination if the Brazilian decided to try Madrid. The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Roma have shown interest in the 19-year-old too. snip

I think so too. As long as he is backed by the cheapskate cunt yank owners, he presents a massive problem for us going forward. Making the CL from the EPL is going to becoming staggeringly hard as the years wind by. Hopefully Everton never get their shit fully together, and Wolves and Leicester are picked clean and fall back to mid-table (or lower, I would not shed a tear if both were relegated again within 5 years) If not, we will have 9 teams fighting over 4 places soon (already have 8) No other league in the world has this situation every single year Serie A (Juve and Inter are the 2 main powers now, as AC Milan have collapsed as a team/organisation, with Napoli (looks like they are coming to an end in terms of a top team soon) Roma, and maybe Lazio (I am a doubter over the long term) being in and out) is the closest, and then the Bundesliga (Bayern, Dortmund and now RB Leipzig are the consistent big 3) have pop-ups every now and then, but usually with no true staying power. La Liga is always going to be the Big 3 and then a few other teams like Valencia, Sevilla and a 'rotating etc' scrapping over 4th.

You are correct, the player has no choice as they signed the contract. The only exception would be if the contract gives the player the right of refusal. I have never seen such a provision, and a selling club would be mad to insert that option, as the player could simply void the entire point of the buyback clause with the stroke of a pen. https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/what-is-a-buy-back-clause-and-how-does-it-work This is exactly how buy-back clause works in football with a few changes. The main purpose of inserting a buy-back clause in the transfer agreements is to give the selling club a sense of security of being able to repurchase a player should he excel in the future. The buyback clause has to be agreed before the player can make a transfer. It may or may not be removed after a certain time period or conditions depending on the contract agreed. No other club except the selling club can pay the fee agreed while negotiating and in maximum cases, the player would have to go back to the parent club when they call for him. The player does not have a say in it and is powerless. Football transfers: Buy-Back Clauses explained https://www.lawinsport.com/topics/contract-law/item/football-transfers-buy-back-clauses-explained?category_id=117 Buy-back clauses in transfer agreements are used primarily to give a selling club the security of being able to repurchase a promising player at a set fee should the player excel in the future. Some high profile examples of such reported clauses include, Álvaro Morata (Juve back to Madrid),1 Casemiro (Porto back to Real Madrid),2 and Gerard Deulofeu (Everton back to Barcelona).3 In many cases, the benefit of the transfer extends to the: The buy-back provision is usually based on a number of individual or cumulative triggers including activating the clause: Should a buy-back provision be triggered, there is usually a contractual obligation to enforce the contract and transfer the player accordingly. As such provisions are commercial agreements between contracting parties, there is always the possibility of removing a buy-back clause should both parties agree (usually through payment made to the club that has the benefit of the buy-back clause). An interesting situation was reported over the summer with Atletico Madrid defender, Toby Alderweireld, who was on loan at Southampton for the 2014/15 season.4 Southampton had an agreement with Atletico when entering into the loan deal that they had the option to purchase the defender for £6.8m. Although not a buy-back provision, the clause gave Southampton the ability to convert the loan into a permanent transfer unless Atletico paid Southampton £1.5m to remove the clause. In the 2015 summer window Tottenham bid around £11.5m that Atletico accepted. Southampton though wanted to enforce the £6.8m purchase clause. It has not been publically reported how the matter was finally resolved but it is likely that Atletico provided compensation to Southampton in order for the player to transfer to Tottenham.

Friday December 20 2019 Football Nerd Taking out Traore is the only way to stop him By Alistair Tweedale, Football Writer Spurs took to dirty tactics to stop Adama Traore last week CREDIT: REUTERS On Saturday afternoon, it is Norwich's turn to attempt the impossible. It is time they take their turn to try to stop Adama Traore. Wolves' flying winger is in such unstoppable form at the moment that last weekend's opponents, Tottenham, persistently resorted to illegal tactics against him. Their approach worked, but it was hugely frustrating for Traore and Wolves, who ended up losing a game that they might well have got a result from had Spurs' cynical efforts brought harsher punishments. There is an interesting debate to be had about whether "taking one for the team" might deserve more than a booking but for the time being scything down an opponent with no intention to play the ball is worthy of just a yellow card. Defenders coming up against Traore know it. Traore is among the best dribblers in the Premier League. He has completed more successful take-ons this season than every other player bar Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, and he seems this season to be adding end product to his unquestionable ability on the ball, with three goals and three assists to his name. But with little idea of how to halt him, opposition defenders are simply taking Traore out. Three players - Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Harry Kane - were booked for fouls on the winger during 14 second-half minutes of last week's match as Spurs pushed for a winner and Wolves looked to counter, while Lucas Moura was lucky to escape being a fourth player to go in the book. In total this season, 17 players have been cautioned for fouls on Traore, which is three more than any other player (Zaha is unsurprisingly second) and one more than the entire Burnley squad. With 17 yellow cards drawn from opponents, Traore has already equalled the highest tally over the whole of 2017/18, when Richarlison led the way, and is just three off last season's best, when Eden Hazard, Diogo Jota and Zaha all prompted 20 bookings. Wolves' frustration at Traore's rough treatment is completely understandable, but until there is a change in the laws, teams will keep on accepting a yellow card in order to keep tricky players away from their goal. via an email no link
