  1. I think the kind of fee a GK would command after a few years on the bench is pocket change for clubs like Chelsea. Resale value isn't important for backup goalies when you look at the history of transfers. Perform when you're called upon and you have proven your worth. Did I read the part on Begovic signing a £4m per year contract right? Is it me or is that unsually high?
  2. Why the heck is the age of a backup GK even relevant? As if Begovic or any other GK is gonna play second fiddle to Courtois for 10 years. If anything, the more experience your backup goalie has (they're usually well over 30), the better.
  3. If you're part of the Oscar can do no right crowd, then yeah, sure. But Arda's consistency is not the best. I read about Arda complaining to Simeone about his defensive workload. If that's true, it's possible it has an effect on his weekly form because it drains him. So if he joins, I hope he does better because he gets to focus on attacking more.
  4. It's a shame swaps barely happen. What a great deal that would be. £5m + Oscar for Vidal, like the Ashley Cole deal.
  5. £20m + Luis for Arda? That's not the best of deals. Chelsea should tell them to include Alderweireld. Sign a player like Baba (Benjamin Mendy for me) as Luis' replacement. Which would mean 7 senior defenders. I worry about Arda's consistency. When he's on form, he's fantastic but that's not always the case to put it mildly. We see enough of that in Willian and Oscar already. But it's possible his defensive workload affects his consistency. So if he joins, I can only hope a lesser workload will work wonders on his weekly form. I still think it's a shame 3 out of 5 AMs barely score and 1 has a decent goal-scoring record. Even Hazard's ability to put the ball in the net isn't very impressive. And not one has impressive off the ball movement.
  6. I thought it was joke but it's serious. Gotta love the world of football.
  7. One of the best passers in the game? Strongly disagree with that tbh. Regardless, this guy is top quality. This is the kind of signing that would strengthen the team. If Juve is willing to talk and Vidal is interested in leaving, Chelsea has to go for him. Great age as well. He just lost some cool points for me with his idiotic behaviour during the Copa.
  8. Hmm Utd. Expected City. Guess this means Depay won't be a starter. Unless Arda is playing in the middle and Mata is going to be benched. Nice selection of attacking midfielders/forwards in terms of diversity though. What are the chances of Utd signing Depay, Arda, Schneiderlin, a centreback, a rightback and a goalie (possibly a new striker as well)? Lloris Coleman Smalling Hummels Shaw/Rojo Schneiderlin Herrera Di Maria Mata/Arda Depay/Arda Rooney Would be a good team. Incredibly expensive though.
  9. Thank you. Can't stand it when people do that. Almost as bad as people telling you to guess what news they have.
  10. Real will be pissed if he joins Barca. Which means they'll make a huge signing as well. They're like children. The question is who? You'd think they would go for Hazard but they're not getting him. Possibly Verratti.
  11. Does Arda qualify as a big signing though?
  12. Would be nice if you were right.
  13. Ramos was a rightback before Mou joined Madrid. Real's defending didn't impress me under Mourinho either btw. I love how Barca's defence has always been labled as weak by many yet they always concede less and look less vulnerable off the ball, despite the crazy high line. I think Ramos has grown into a fantastic CB these past years tbh. On form he's quite the force. And he's a huge personality, I like that. Real's defence always looks a little lost when he's not available. His discipline has always been a big problem though. Shockingly enough he was not sent off once last season. Still collected 12 yellow cards in the league though. I've never agreed with the best defender in the world talk but I'd put him in my top 10. Maldini loves the guy though. Called him the best CB a year ago or so. I always think about it when Ramos is mentioned. Maldini knows defending so it's hard to argue with him but I don't see it. He's never joining Utd btw.
  14. Cech Ferreira Carvalho Terry Gallas/Cole Makelele Essien/Ballack Lampard Duff/Anelka Drogba/Gudjohnsen Malouda/Robben
  15. Not even the Chinese want Obi! http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/28/demba-ba-shanghai-shenhua-china-besiktas http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-flop-paulinho-set-5950341 A real shame too. They pay good money. £11 mil for Paulinho...
  16. I don't think anyone is spoiled. People love transfers. It could be March and there's talk about potential signings. I'm sure even many Real fans are pining for some new players. We'll see what happens. Even if little changes are made, you can be sure it's because Mourinho knows he has a squad that can/will win the league.
  17. He always becomes so average when he puts on that Brazil shirt. But yeah, it shows you technique does not equal quality. It's about what you do with it. Flashes of quality doesn't get you anywhere on the long run.
  18. Binho's still got it. I'm glad Dunga finally picked him over Tardelli. He's always been a good performer for Brazil and it hasn't changed even after being out for so long. I don't think Alves has ever performed so well for Brazil.
  19. Courtois; Ivanvovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpi The back 5 is settled so I don't think we'll see any changes there. Depending on the development of Zouma, he could possibly take Cahill's spot. It might be a bit too early for that to happen but who knows. Mou said he wanted to add a defender. If it happens, it will probably be a back up. The question is if he's a Luis replacement or another senior option since the backline is quite thin. Cesc Matic; Willian Oscar Hazard ? Matic; Willian Cesc Hazard Cesc Matic; ? Willian/Oscar Hazard I don't think a new #10 will join because Mou has three options for that role, Oscar/Willian/Cesc. All three options offering something different. A new winger might be too expensive/not worth the investment. Or the right player simply isn't available. But it's possible. I think a new centre midfielder will join. First XI quality. Offering a different option (big games) and if good enough, pushing either Oscar or Willian out of the team. Preferably someone with impressive athleticism in terms power and decent pace at the very least. Then there's the wild card Cuadrado. Big investment so I don't think he was bought to merely play in case of injury/suspension or the rare times of rotation. Who knows how he'll do next season. Costa up top is a lock. Falcao looks like he'll join and add another option in case of injury/suspension. Just hope Remy isn't leaving. I'd be happy with a CM and a highly talented young attacking midfielder (Drogba and Cech replacements goes without saying). Add Otamendi to that and I'll sing the Happy Happy Joy Joy song.
  20. Technically two seasons. Oscar's debut season was pretty regular throughout in terms of form. The dreadful 'Mazacar' term was something that popped up in 2013. Their link up play and understanding was quite exciting to watch though. I really hope Mou is right about him. Don't want Oscar to become the new Obi.
  21. Assists: 14/15 - 4 in La Liga & 2 in CL / 1.1 & 1.5 Key Passes per game 13/14 - 4 in La Liga & 1 in CL / 1.1 & 1.1 KPG 12/13 - 4 in La Liga & (only played 1 CL match) / 1.2 KPG 11/12 - 6 in La Liga (No CL football) / 1.2 KPG (21 assists in 4 seasons. Just for comparison, Fabregas assisted 22 goals for Chelsea this season alone.) Fantastic player when in form but far from effective. Won't bother to mention his goal-scoring record. Another player that depends on others to score and assist/create.
  22. The power of money... Causing seismic activity in female pants all over the world. Girl has dangerous eyes.
  23. Would've flipped if Colombia went through. They did nothing. Ospina... So typical of Argentina to make things so hard. But they're through. Messi showing his class. Thought Pastore and Di Maria played really well as well. But they lack so much scoring wise though.
