  1. Arsenal charged by FA over Calum Chambers transfer from Southampton http://www.espnfc.com/arsenal/story/2488383/arsenal-charged-by-fa-over-calum-chambers-transfer Strip them of the Premier League titles they've won in the past 10 years, I say! Oh, wait...
  2. Why, oh, why isn't Ibra linked with Chelsea? All this move to Milan talk is annoying me. Mourinho wants a striker. Zlatan said he liked/loved working under him. Does Zlatan feel nothing at all for a final (European) adventure in England... Though I'm sure the Raiola and Mendes thing plays a huge role. Eredivisie (2x), Serie A (6x, 4x if you take away the Juve titles), La Liga, Ligue 1 (3x), Premier League (at least 1) titles on your CV. Just think about it, my big Swedish friend.
  3. You're on a Chelsea forum, Cesc is always winning this. Agree with Alex. It's the same for Spain. He probably won't be a starter at EURO 2016, and I'm not mad at that. Rakitic is not a Barca midfielder either, but he was capable and willing to adapt to Barca and sacrifice his individual game for the sake of the team. Rakitic was the creative man at Sevilla so he's proven to be versatile.
  4. Counting on the cameramen to capture some interesting sights in the stands.
  5. http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2015/06/11/12632492/hazard-i-want-to-score-more-goals-for-chelsea?ICID=HP_BN_4 Eden and I have this crazy physic connection (he scored 17 last season though). 25 is exactly what I was thinking he should aim for next season (+/- 15 assists). That would be amazing. If he can manage that, and Diego plays 40+ games next season, scoring 25+ goals, that's already a nice return from the star men up front. But Oscar, Willian and Cuadrado have to step up. Oscar and Willian both need to hit 10+. Willian with his 4 goals per season average is just sad. Cuadrado hopefully scoring 5-10 goals.
  6. Quite shocking since he's a big name. He's been brilliant this season, thought his time as a world-class player was well over. Ivanovic is immensely popular for a player of his ilk. He would probably command quite a transfer fee despite his age.
  7. I think it's clear you would happily let go of Oscar. I say prepare to be disappointed.
  8. Quite surprised by these comments. He does not impress me on a technical level and in terms of vision and calmness on the ball at all. His strength lies off the ball and in his physical attributes. But I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
  9. I disagree. Radja is good, but I rate Witsel higher. The former is more aggressive and strong in tackling, but is inferior on the ball. Witsel is much better when it comes to holding the ball (crucial because of the current options in midfield) and in his passing, and he has the advantage of height, strength and aerial prowess. He has a really nice blend of height, power and technique. My comment was merely based on Mourinho's words. Cuadrado possibly leaving is pure speculation. I'd take Ramsey, I rate him. Don't think Wenger is stupid enough to let him go. But I do agree with Mou on taking a player from a rival if they want Cech. Should also help in scaring them away a little. A new player for the '3' would make sense. But don't forget Fabregas counts as a option for behind the striker. A new centre midfielder would offer the option of moving him there permanently or for rotation/tactical changes. We'll see what happens. Oscar's not going anywhere. I don't believe that all. Mourinho loves Oscar. He sees star potential in him. It would take a Mata/Luiz-esque offer to contemplate selling him.
  10. A defender and a midfielder is vague. Could be a new CB, could be a Luis replacement, could be an added defender for depth since there are only 6 senior defenders in the squad. Midfielder could be a centre midfielder or an attacking midfielder. Like Sheva already said, I don't think it's a wide man. He would've said winger or forward. Striker is clear, with Falcao as one of the targets. Mourinho must have watched the France-Belgium game. I wouldn't mind Witsel as the new midfielder at all. I'd love a new CB, Otamendi being my choice. But it could be Alderweireld looking at the links. Would be a strange signing, unless he actually sees a starter in him. Toby left Atletico because he wasn't a starter, I doub't he'd join for a squad role. Mourinho barely rotates. Or there's simply no interest at all. And he says these are his targets now, but he could change his mind later on. But it would be nice if business could be done early.
  11. Agree. Instead of taking the typical approach of waiting until the player's stock rises to the point he'd cost you a huge sum of money, you take a bit of a risk by getting him early. Like with Oscar, Zouma and Azpi. Oscar still has issues but he's a regular, Zouma is still learning but has already had a positive impact and Azpi is fantastic. Of course there are other young players that were brought in that didn't work out (Salah being one of them) but that's football and there was a time the people in charge weren't big on talents. I will say this, I never thought Salah was a world-class talent, despite his goal-scoring performances against Chelsea. Never really rated him highly, but he's still very young though. And he did well at Fiorentina. But he does not possess that bit of magic in his game. Fekir does. And I like the fact he has a good shot on him and takes free-kicks. He can in all positions behind the striker. I would love him here. But sadly no links at all.
  12. Neymar scored in both quarterfinals, both semifinals and the final. Top scorer of the CL, best ratio when looking at amount of minutes played of the three top scorers. So yeah, hard to exclude him. I'd include Buffon, Alves, Pique, Chiellini, Iniesta and Barca's front three in my team. The rest is up for debate. Hopefully we'll see a better Chelsea and Hazard next season. Would love to him see impress as much as he's done in English football.
  13. Luiz Adriano? The guy scored 7 goals against Bate. He has no place in a team of the season. WhoScored ratings is not handy for things like this. Match impact, the stage of the tournament, big game performances etc. aren't taken into account. And certain styles/attributes aren't as appreciated as others. Hazard's best performances came against the likes of Maribor and Sporting, in the group stage. That's not TOTS worthy. In fact, that's the next stage of his development. Performing in the finals of the CL. He has 0 rep at that stage.
  14. True. They know that in a game of 5 goals, they'll be the ones scoring at least 3. But Barca's defence doesn't get enough credit. They play with a lot of space in their back but the back line deals with it very well. Extremely well even. I can't imagine Azpi-Terry-Cahill-Ivanovic defending like that. And they're pressing is absolutely excellent. Xavi explained Barca's 'new' style best, made the difference sound very simple. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11833/9868824/barcelona-legend-xavi-on-sergio-busquets-lionel-messi-and-his-mum
  15. Exactly. And he'll even attempt to get out of situations no one can get out of, rather than passing the ball to a team mate. Or when he goes on those dribbling adventures without any idea or purpose behind them... But I'm sure that's something he'll improve. He's a natural. He is but Neymar will score goals anywhere. Santos, Brazil, Barca. It doesn't matter. Suarez is the same. Ajax, Liverpool, Barca, Uruguay. They possess that special skill/sense.
  16. Pogba was decent yesterday. Harsh to judge him on a CL final. That's the biggest game there is. To put in a top performance in CL final is not a given for even the very best. Pirlo and Vidal were (very) poor so Juve struggled in midfield. I do agree with the comments on his work rate. Evra could've used his help more dealing with Messi and Alves. And he was surprisingly ineffective in his dribbling. Usually an area of strength of him as he's capable of powering through. Plenty of space at times but didn't make use of it like Morata did. It's not Pogba's fault he's overhyped. He's a very good player and has already achieved a lot at 22. But the fees thrown around are indeed ridiculous.
  17. His performance yesterday summed him up perfectly. Amazing goal threat, direct, terrific pace, great drive, excellent off the ball movement. But he's not the brightest light on the ball. Makes a lot of stupid decisions, at times sloppy in his passing, and is very prone to lose possession unnecessarily. I've said this many times before, they're completely different talents. It all depends on personal preference. 39 goals in 47 starts for Barca this season. That's an amazing achievement, no matter how you want to look at it. Edit: And I have to commend him on his work rate this season. Great improvement there.
  18. How was the match boring? Plenty of chances created and opportunities to score. Juve fought hard. Some periods of end-to-end football. And I thought Buffon's save of the Dani Alves shot, Marchisio's back-heel to play Lichtsteiner through, and that double one-two with Messi-to-Neymar and Messi-to-Suarez right in front of the box that led to the Messi chance were moments of magic. The build-up for the first goal was brilliant as well. Every Barca player got a touch I think. Messi's perfect pass to Alba, Neymar playing in Iniesta (which I completely did not expect) was some amazing stuff. Alves with another ridiculous hair cut. I was actually surprised and thought the match was going to be a lot tighter. Last year's final was pretty awful until Ramos equalised. In fact, most finals are awful. Edit: This was fun.
  19. Exactly. That balance to get enough men back to help keep the front three quiet, but still managing to get forward and attack is very hard. Barca's pressing is phenomenal so they won't allow you to just hit them on the break with ease. And Barca used to be weak at set-pieces but that has changed under Enrique's management (and added height of Suarez and Rakitic), so no more exploitation. Atletico parked the bus plenty of times and they are experts, but they still lost. Real did press them in their last two clashes though, and they were the ones that dealt the best with Barca this year. They won at home, and outplayed Barca in the first half and the first 10 min of the 2nd half at Camp Nou. Forcing them to concede possession in midfield a lot and attacking them with pace whenever they won the ball. But they didn't convert their chances. Barca scored out of nowhere, turnied things around and won the match.
  20. They were 1-0 behind and I think Allegri made the tactical change in an attempt to win. It got them a goal, but they also conceded. Barca's super trio can do that to you. I really can't blame him for it. There's no correct defensive plan against this Barca side. They defended deep at first, but Barca still created chances.
  21. Juve would not have scored if they didn't defend high up the pitch. They were struggling when they were deep. Barca got stuck in their own half and their stubbornnes to keep the ball despite the lack of good passing options led to to Juve's goal. It started with Ter Stegen passing the ball to Pique instead of kicking the ball away, who then also looked to pass the ball... If Dani Alves just kicked the ball away instead of trying to reach Neymar who was so far up the pitch and practically out of reach, Marchisio would never have gotten the chance to play Lichtsteiner through. Strange to focus on a period of roughly 10 min btw. Juve were the lesser team for the majority of the game, and Barca had plenty of opportunities to score. Juve didn't do Barca any favours, Barca's nonchalance (and Buffon's brilliance) kept Juve in the game. Juve couldn't handle their pressing. The amount of times Juve gave the ball away was astonishing. Brilliant defending by Barca today.
  22. I'd ban you if I could. At least spell his name correctly.
  23. Alves really is haha. I love him though. He's so strange and he remains himself at all times. One of the few players to speak his mind. Just recently, he called Barca out for only offering him a contract after they knew about the ban.
  24. Called the Neymar goal haha. Messi much better in the second half. But sadly no goal for the record. Suarez is living his dream and it's just so awesome. He always said he wanted to play for Barca when playing for Ajax. His dream club. I said that's never happening. And now he's there and he scores the winning goal in the CL final, winning the treble. So happy for him. But he's remains insane. Can't help but feel sad for Buffon. Pirlo's actually crying, didn't expect that. So sad. Lacking in the final pass when they were finally on top for a while. Busquets with a defensive midfield masterclass today. Nearly flawless. Unbelievable stuff. That guy reads the game like no other, his pressing is just.... Wow. Iniesta was brilliant as well. They lost that calm and control when he went off. Xavi barely did anything. Does Enrique's assistent ever change clothes btw?
