Best Super Cup ever haha. Complete entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

Complete control after 55 min. 4-1. And then everything goes wrong. Compliments to Sevilla. To trail by three goals yet come back takes great mental strength. A spanking would've been sad for them anyway. But very, very poor from Barca's side. Individual mistakes have killed them. Mathieu with some atrocious defending, Bartra comes on and immediately fails miserably. See what happens when you take off Iniesta.

I just experienced multiple football orgasms. I don't know what to say about their football today. They make it look so easy. Messi... sigh. One of the best 45 min I've ever seen a footballer play. And Messi's name tends to come to mind when thinking about the best individual displays. How do you score two free-kicks in one game, one half even. Why do I even bother to understand... Dani Alves's resurgence is a complete mystery to me. Legendary footballer. Between 2006-2012, he was simply sensational. I never thought he'd play like that again, but here he is. Second wind. At his age, at this stage of his career. After winning all those trophies. In such a demanding position. Amazing. Pique's comeback. Seemingly unmotivated and not in his best physical shape for years. Apparently lost his hunger for the game. He was turning into that sad story of peaking early. His true ability forgotten. Now he's back with a bang, playing better than ever before, maturing into a leader at the back. Iniesta remains pure footballing magnificence, I don't care what anyone says. Just watch the guy play. Always making the right decisions, rarely loses the ball and he plays with an effortless flair and grace. Football god. I still can't believe this is the same Suarez I would watch at The Arena. I say it all the time. The progress this man has booked... this is the stuff you see in films. This is what he wanted. 'Work hard enough and you can do anything'. Well, Suarez did it. And I applaud him for it.

Pff, more bad PR. What else is new?

Driving a Ferrari like a Fiat and what not. It will be interesting to see if the lesser sides improve. Same goes for the top sides.

That's different though. He received game time but he was so abysmal he became persona non grata. It would be something though. £34 mil/€48 mil defender, which would make him the second most expensive defender off all time, on the bench.

Oscar was Mourinho's choice in the middle, that's football. But to sell players for him? What club would pamper a player like that? What player would ask for that? This is a competitive (and money-orientated) sport. Real signed Bale in 2013. Ozil's spot in the first XI was under threat. They received a 42.5 mil pound offer from Arsenal and Ozil wanted to go, so they let him go. Same situation. Ozil wasn't sold to accomodate Bale, he chose to leave. The money was deemed good enough and the player wasn't deemed too crucial to keep at all costs. Some players choose to stay and fight, others prefer to go elsewhere and play. Either move is understandable and correct.
-
The club sold Mata and KDB because they received nearly 60 million pounds worth of offers and both expressed a desire to leave. Not to accommodate Oscar, that's stupid.

The last Chelsea manager to last six consecutive seasons was Dave Sexton, 1967-1974. Only two managers survived four consecutive seasons after him, John Neal and Claudio Ranieri. Mourinho would be breaking a fine tradition. You'd think so. Signing a new contract and all. Would be funny if it happened though, in a tragic way.

Mikel, Ivanovic, Cuadrado and a lifetime stack of lesbian porn.

Watching Ghana during the African Cup this year, I saw him in action. I'd never heard of him before so he was completely new for me, 0 expectations. I was very impressed by him. Strong on both ends, like you said impressive athleticism and he showcased a maturity in his game surprising for a guy with his experience. Ghana's best player for me. Found out he played for Augsburg and read he was one of the revelations of the Bundesliga. In his first year at top level as well. I'm very hesitant about getting excited about his purchase though. It wouldn't be the first time a player excelled during the African Cup, or any other international tournament, only failing to replicate that form ever again. Same goes for one season wonders. I've wanted a 'modern fullback' (with real pace) for so long now (when will we stop using that phrase btw, modern fullbacks have been around for 15+ years). When did Cole's prime end? 10/11? And he was the only one in the Abramovich era. You'd have to go back to Petrescu to find one before Cole. (Bossssingwa doesn't count, he was poor) I wish him all the best. If Baba plays like he did at the AC, he'll do fine here. But he'll need to get a real chance though.

I have to say, I'm very impressed by the PL imports this year. Many clubs have made some excellent signings. I just found out today Villa bought Amavi and Vercoutre. Unbelievable signings for them. But at the same time I feel the likes of Ayew, Payet, Wijnaldum, Rondon etc. could have done (much) better. That moolah is powerful I tell you.
-
What looks good on paper doesn't necessarily work in reality, but I agree with your point. And some people are exaggerating City's defensive woes. They're not Liverpool. Sterling, Silva and possibly KDB won't be allowed to stroll around the pitch, that's just silly.
-
I can only hope he turns out to be a quality fullback, with pace and quality on the ball and going forward. I do wonder though... With Mourinho's reluctance to rotate, how much will we see him? Would be a shame if we saw another Luis situation.
-
Kun isn't a notorious choker so yeah, that makes sense.
-
Claude is all-knowing! Aguero did play in the final. I remember because I thought he was poor. Never question Claude's knowledge. (I checked to make sure and he definitely played.)

The problem is the interest (and his price) will rise. Chelsea doesn't have that incredible attraction that makes top players/talents jump at the opportunity of joining. This summer was perfect. No Barca and Real. City busy with Sterling, PSG busy with Di Maria. Utd currently not in the market for a #10, Juve bought Dybala (probably too expensive for them anyway). I'm sure he could've been convinced to join. But that's just me being selfish. I think staying another year at Lyon is a smart move as well. I want to see him join so badly. He has it all. The first time I saw him I was already convinced.
-
Chelsea have to get Fekir next year. An absolute must. Before EURO 2016. Ligue 1 has been good to us and Fekir would continue that fine tradition. In fact, I'm convinced he'd be up there with the best imports. I absolutely love this guy's game. Genuine talent, the real deal. It still pains me Chelsea didn't throw money at Lyon this summer, a la James Rodriguez to Real, Neymar to Barca or Sterling to City. I'll cry if he ends up at Barca, Real, PSG... any other team than Chelsea and tears will be shed. It won't be pretty.

A good win next week and the Specialists in Selfies will open their mouths wide open again. I really enjoyed that loss.
-
That's a stamina and tactical issue. I've seen Fabregas get up and down the pitch and he's a slow poke. When Ivanovic gets forward, he's very slow to return. Often too tired to sprint back. Ivanovic used to have some pace over distance, but I've said he's been losing pace since Mourinho got back. He's lost a few steps and he seems to be getting worse. Not surprising considering his age. Zouma has good pace over distance and is pretty decent off the mark. I'm quite shocked you're even comparing the two speed wise. Branislav is no JT, but he currently falls under the lable slow for me. For a fullback he's very slow.
-
What? Of course he is. Comfortably even. Quicker off the mark and faster over distance. Ivanovic has no pace.
-
Title candidate #1! Best team in the country! Chelsea is falling behind the competition! I'm sure it's City now. Just shift the praise up north. Unless they drop points tomorrow. Cech looked very poor on both goals. God bless him.
-
You stole my 'let me create a line-up in my mind I know will never happen in reality' line-up. Would be nice if he dropped Cesc and Ivanovic, just to show them they're not guaranteed starters. But I doubt it will happen. I can see the Mikel in DM and Cesc at #10 move happening. A win might be too much to ask so I'll settle for a draw. Most likely breaking out the ol' bus for this one. Set-pieces and a moment of magic from Cesc or Hazard. Would be nice if City dropped points tomorrow. Just to add to the drama.

Any comments from Mourinho on this apparent red card syndrome? It seems seeing a player leaving the pitch, whether playing with ten men or even facing ten men, causes great distraught to our team. I know receiving a red card is a pain and all, but it shouldn't be a death sentence.
-
I thought he did really well though after the red card. He was the only one who actually looked like he was still playing, often all alone up front. If not for him, I doubt we'd see any kind of threat from Chelsea. 0 drive going forward. I was hoping one of the fouls he drew would produce a set-piece goal. Why he wouldn't take shots I don't understand. I said he was the best player on the pitch but I didn't say he was good though. The quality was really poor in the second half.
