Haven't visited this topic in a while so I may be responding to some quite old posts/views. Good enough post to lock this thread for a while That's just dissrespectful to the quality poster that Styles was and the valid criticism that thread had (for the first 10 pages or so). Now this is the area I feel AVB deserves the most critisism. At this level and taking into account the risk we took with him he had plenty of time to assess the situation. From him signing his contract to before and during the pre-season tour and even later. He is one of the persons in the Chelsea hierarchy responsible for entering the transfer market extremely late and therefore should take part of the blame for the either insuffisient or false assessment of our situation. On more recent events and as far as AVB is concerned, the last 3-4 weeks have been very disappointing in terms of performances and substitutions*. The Fulham game was the worst CFC game I've seen since Blackburn/Blackpool away in early 2010 (what a dross of a match) and against Villa and Wolves we were as uncreative as we were 10-12 moths ago (if that's even possible). The Ferreira-Bosingwa subs would have been chuckle-worthy had they not resembled so much Ancelotti-changes and made me more worried than I was at any part of the season. Moreover, that fact that he broke his norm of using all 3 subs in league games in a match where he actually had a very young bench is another troubling point, giving McEachran <10 mins considering how non-existent our midfield was is hopefully only a result of being under pressure. On another matter our two only trustworthy sources of creativity (Mata, Sturridge) are in bad need of rest and AVB seems as reluctant as I am to come to terms with it. Giving them that rest reveals that we have no sufficient cover and it will be interesting to see how the manager will respond during ACN and the January transfer period. *Results too but I feel/felt like punching Cech and Bosingwa for those more that AVB.
