  1. This might come and bite me in a few years but there's just no way he'll not succeed with that kind of attitude. Emenalo's interview is great.
  2. :censored: How the hell do you remember such details?
  3. That's probably sarcasm but those two were part of the Deco deal.
  4. Loaned to Vitesse. http://www.vitesse.nl/nieuws/bericht/vitesse-huurt-patrick-van-aanholt/2217
  5. Do you reckon a week's training would be enough for AVB to actually start with that pair? Hate to be a cunt but that's a pretty big claim. You weren't registered at the time but during the summer of 2010 the general consensus on twitter and the major Chelsea boards was that getting Essien and Bosingwa back from their injuries would be like 2 brand new signings for us. Sure some did not rate him as much as others but expecting him to actually harm the team was at least prophetic.
  6. Hey there That's got to be the craziest idea I've read in months. So Cole is no longer world-class (as in undoubtedly one of the 3 best players in hisposition on the planet) big deal.. He is still easily one of the best LBs in the Premierleague and his form could actually be the least important issue our squad has. Anything from getting a proper RB and a working CB partnership to buying a whole set of midfielders who can pass and dictate the tempo, a striker who can score, another winger and a goalkeeper who won't have blunders that lose us points in tight matches is more pressing than selling Cole.
  7. How many games have those two actually started together? Bosingwa was injured for almost all 09/10 and Alex lost the second half of 10/11.
  8. Alex played alongside John Terry, Ashley Cole and in front of Petr Cech. Gary Cahil on the other hand was surrounded by Bolton players. Context.
  9. I think is what his bad games at Liverpool looked like.
  10. Couldn't such an approach be extended to all aspects of football? From tactics and players to quality and style of our football.
  11. Wanted to bump this thread but it appears some genius locked it. Kudos to CJ Revo for creating it.
  12. For a player who was said to be worth 17 millions just 12 months ago the combined costs of the fee and his wages over 5 years are not as unreasonable as this thread is making them sound.
  13. Why would you willingly ignore the financial side of football when you realise that economics are the number 1 factor shaping modern football?
  14. If I had to guess I'd say he managed to get the alleged contract due to his fee being relatively low because Cahill over the past few seasons declined new contracts from Bolton effectively losing potential income. A player would naturally want to make up for that lost income with his new contract. It's similar to players who run down their contracts getting sign-on fees at their new club and higher wages than they would had they had a transfer fee. In the end both wages' and transfer fees' effect on the account of the club is very similar due to amortization. The most striking recent example of that fact is how Anderlecht's Milan Jovanovic was on 120k p/w at Liverpool due to signing for free.
  15. Yup it's a terribly boring thread now..
  16. Not glad with the rumored terms of the deal, 7m and 80k p/w, but they're just that, rumored. Every major trustworthy site/source has actually pointed that out to be on the safe side. Only Mirror in their "exclusive" appear sure and that's saying something. Anyway, since it's a matte of hours now, welcome to Chelsea Gary.
  17. I definitely need a sum-up of what happened in that Anelka thread.
