Let's be honest, with such an academy and such a competitive first team it is going to happen - Some players are made to be sold. I doubt Baker is one of them, but he has lots of competition for those coveted first team places. In the next few years: RLC Oscar Cesc Willian Thorgan van Ginkel Of RLC, Thorgan, Oscar, Ginkel, and Baker at least 2 will be going, and I'm almost certain it would not be Loftus Cheek. In other areas the problem is less acute, but about a quarter of our loan players will ever make it into the FT squad, sub or otherwise.

tbh, i think it's more due to him being fatigued and rumor is that he was playing through a quad injury - if that were me, I'd probably take it easy too. Let's face it, Oscar has never been creative, and that's why we struggle when Ramires is in the team. When Cesc is playing, Oscar generally presses more into the box with Diego than trying to create from outside it. Having said that, it's clear he is still developing and that's okay - Not everybody develops like Hazard. I think at this point in time Willian would probably be a better alternative due to all round better ball control.

yes, tbh we might be better off converting him into the CM and switching him with Cesc. Though, that would require him bulking up a bit....

Maybe Thorgan might be a better option, sell Oscar for £40m and buy Varane. Never know really, but I just cant see what he offers over his fellow loan counterparts, RLC would probably have had more impact than he did today. Or he's just come out of form, you can't really write him off.

Tbf, once you take out those players, apart from Torres being out of the equation, it is pretty much the same lineup as last years' when Luis is not playing too. So it is kind of understandable.
