In my opinion, we really should keep Schurrle, but clearly JM doesn't think there's hope. Schurrle has made it clear he loves Chelsea, and london, so why kick him to the curb? He wants to fight for his spot, and this FFP bollocks, i dont wanna hear it.
I'm saying i want to keep Schurrle because i also think, Hazard should be shifted to CAM when Oscar is dropped/injured. And this would allow Schurrle to play in his most favored LW role, and we'd still have 2 good RWs to choose from in Willian/Cuadrado. Because having potentially Willian/Cuadrado/Dougles Costa is a bit too much imo for the RW. We'd already have that LW alternative in Schurrle.

Cuadrado comes here, Salah goes to Fiorentina on loan and Schürrle stays. Please.

Hopefully in my lifetime I'll witness a striker - maybe Bamfordinho - come through our ranks and stay a long while to replace him as top scorer as well. It's not even that I'm bitter... that's an old dream of mine... to have a striker to have the same career as Terry had here. scoring more than Lampard has just become a bonus

He's still needed here. all we have to do is switch azpi back to his natural position and let him be back up to filipe. The funny thing is that what he's doing this season at Southampton, He was also doing with us but people always see the grass as greener on the otherside. I promise you he hasn't just started performing like a very competent and accomplished leftback this season.
he's been doing that since he was prmoted to the Chelsea first team but people see what they want to see. Some of us recognmised this but others chose to label him average and midtable level talent.

Like I was saying before, if Cahill was half as bad as people were making out, Mourinho would have dropped him. It is as simple as that. Mourinho would not be frightened to play Ivanovic or Zouma at the back if he thought Cahill was a liability. Ivanovic has had many solid games for us in that position so it is not as if he is not trusted. Cahill makes errors, I accept that but the level people are making it sound at is as if he is doing Kolo Toure-esque mistakes. People will hunt down any error he makes but ignore the positives. He did one bad challenge which was the fault of our DM for being sloppy in possession but apart from that he literally won neaely every single tussle he had whether that was in the air or on foot.

Yes he isnt world class CB, he never was and currently in not best form, but he always put good performance when needed.
Also Zouma in better form after two games and better CB? I like the kid, think he will be top defender eventualy, but right now how can people say he is in superb form after two games? When he will play 5 consecutive games and against top opponents for whole 90mins, I will make judgement how good he is already and in what form he is...but not after 2 games ffs. He showed glimpses, but that is with every young player when given chance. Im all for giving Zouma chance now that Cahill isnt in best shape, but to say that Zouma is in better form is ridiculous. Everyone is jumping on Zouma bandwagon after Cahill mistakes, but when Zouma gets run of games, he could make plenty of mistakes and that wont be good for development. Put him slowly in games and eventualy he will break through. Varane needed one season too to get ahead of Pepe who was shit back then, but then got better. Cahill can still make improvement, there is reason why Mou plays him for two seasons...
Anyway, Im glad Mou makes these decisions and not some people here who repeat themselves like broken record due to their personal disliking of Cahill, just waiting him to make mistake, so that they can write how right they were...

GC's former manager was just talking on Sky about his time at Bolton. He said Man City had bid 17 million and some player for GC the season before. Chelsea got him for £6 million. He agreed to join us but still asked if he could play for Bolton one more time. I think he said it was at Everton and gary scored the winner. You've got to admire him for that.

If he got sold for 17m, he would be cerainly more rated than he is now. I think he isnt appreciated enough for what he does. Many CBs like Subotic, Hummels, Kompany make mistakes too, but they are all better rated. Cahill is maybe not on same level, but certainly not far. Considering defensive errors City and Bvb are doing this season, I dont see why people want their CBs.

If people compare his matches where he was 'bad' compared to the ones where he played well in they would realise most games he played for us, he done well and rarely looked out of place. He is just one of them players who have done well at us but can't replace the first choice in that position for whatever reason. Bertrand is not the only one. There is also Sturridge as well. If people want to recall games where Bertrand was poor for us please do. I remember several games where he done very well for us. Most noteably Arsenal in the 0-0 draw at the Emirates about 3 seasons ago when we rotated a lot of players due to the UCL and in saying that we ended up winning the competition. But he came in for Cole that day and was given MOTM. Was superb defensively and done well offensively as well.
I have always liked Bertrand and it is nice to see he is excelling at Southampton.

He's a very good/top class and massively underrated defender who like virtually every defender has weaknesses and had a very poor game against Schalke. That's the bottomline. people who call him average are just very silly. He's been excellent for the past 14 months atleast.
