I used to think this way as well. But the fact is that there would still be Luiz, Zouma/Cahill, Alonso, Moses and Costa on the field. All of them are pretty physical. I would never have Kante-Verratti in a system like 4-2-4 but when there is three defenders in behind and two on the wings, it might be enough. I believe that in this formation the most important characteristics of a midfielder are mobility and stamina.Kante-Verratti would be amazing in that respect besides all the quality on the ball that they also have.

Back up for Alonso is absolutely vital though. If he gets injured who comes to replace him? Aina?

Reports are telling how Luke Shaw's and Mourinho's relationship has deteriorated. He's a Chelsea fan so I wonder if he would wanna come here. 3-4-3 is such a demanding formation for the wide players that it does require four really good wingbacks in the squad, especially next season when there's European football as well. Alonso and Shaw battling for the LWB position? Would be great thing to see.

Replace Cahill with Zouma or Christensen, replace Pedro with a world class right winger and maybe replace Alonso with a Filipe Luis-type player and you will see how our possession play will magically improve. Also, I'm not sure whether Matic is the answer for the midfield. Sure, right now he's bossing it but he will always be that one legged Serbian with awkward first touch. He's no Gundogan or Verratti.

What about Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the right wing role? Rumours are telling that he might be on his way out of Manchester in January. Yeah I know he isn't in the same class as Robben/Bale/Griezmann/Dybala but he could still be a major upgrade from Willian and Pedro. And sure there's always a very small chance that he just can't perform in the Premier League but let's just remember how poorly KDB, Filipe Luis, and Cuadrado played when Mourinho was in charge. Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 formation is famous for being unsuitable for most footballers on the planet and Mkhitaryan could have a much better chance of succeeding in the more attacking role of 3-4-3.

What Conte has done with this team after the tragedy against Arsenal has been nothing short of AMAZING! 4 games, 11 goals for, 0 goals against. Matic seems like the player he was back in 2014, Moses looks like prime Dani Alves and even Gary focking Cahill is performing. Couldn't be happier with the team!

I love this guy. We just need to be aware of what went wrong at Juventus so that the same thing cannot happen at this club. Conte is the closest thing to Simeone in world football but he has way more class than the Argentine in my opinion. The future is looking good for Chelsea once again.
