I agree that £87m is absolutely ridiculous price tag for Belotti. However, Morata and Lukaku are just as expensive and they come with their own question marks too. To me Belotti seems like the ideal player for Conte system so this transfer would make a lot of sense despite his lack of experience at the top level. If it doesn't work out, I'm sure Everton or other mid-table team would be more than happy to buy him for a discount like £40-50m next summer. High risk high reward and I think it's a risk worth taking. Bottom line is that the club will have to spend around 100 million euros for a striker in the upcoming weeks regardless of who we buy. That's the state of the transfer market in 2017.

I haven't seen too much of him but the highlights sure make him look like an exciting striker! Would it be wrong to compare him with Luis Suarez? I'm seeing some similar traits between the two. Resemblance between him and Carlos Tevez also comes to mind. Anyhow, I definitely prefer this type of striker over Lukaku.
-
And he isn't even a football player. I'm sure given his physique he'd be better at American football or rugby.
-
Well the club needs to find a new striker. Time for invest all money and efforts into chasing down Belotti?
-
Shame that we haven't been linked with him. Such an amazing midfielder. Couldn't the club at least try to negotiate a Costa (+ $) <=> Saul swap or something?
-
Where are all the RWB rumours? Makes me wonder if Conte actually wants to play 3-3-4 with Sandro and Pedro/Willian as wingers/wingbacks. Certainly he won't play Azpi as RWB, I mean it just wouldn't make sense considering how keen the club is to buy an attacking LWB like Sandro.
-
I'd bet Jose would love to play a midfield of Pogba, Fellaini and Matic. All of them are nice and tall.
-
This signing might not seem the most relevant one to our squad but in fact it's absolutely crucial that we get another LWB/LB, and preferably someone better than Alonso. Imagine if Alonso had torn his ACL in October. We would have finished sixth in the league. Signing Sandro is a massive statement, and exactly the kind of message the board needs to send to Conte. Let's all remember that this is the first time ever when Conte has been truly backed by his board. If he can win the league with Alonso and Moses as wingbacks, imagine what he could do with a truly world class squad...Exciting times ahead!

Typical American, doesn't even speak Italian #sarcasm
-
The feeling when you know the club is about to sign a world class player that will elevate the team to a whole new level....I had the same feeling when we signed Kante last year.
-
Journalists very rarely seem to understand the difference between £ and €
-
Send a team of CIA psychologists into Torino ASAP and brainwash him to accept that contract offer! This deal needs to be done.
-
IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING!?!?
-
Give them Baba!

To spend £50m on Ross Barkley would be ridiculous. Every Serie A team has at least one player that's capable of doing everything Barkley does. Spending £50m on Alex Sandro would be brilliant. There aren't many players in the world that can dominate the left flank the way he does.
-
I assume it would take something around 120 million euros to seal this deal. Totally worth it considering how massive brand this guy is but I just don't see him ending up at Chelsea. United and PSG are the likeliest destinations unless he's looking to escape EU altogether because of the tax officials.
-
Now this would be a statement! Make it happen pls
-
Its hard to understand the board at times. Are they really trying to make Chelsea the next Liverpool/Arsenal?
-
I wonder how well he could play as a shadow striker next to Lukaku in a 3-5-2. With Hazard below them in no.10 position and Bakayoko and Kante as the defensive shield in midfield.
-
To me it seems that Conte only played Matic-Kante because there were no better alternatives within the squad. Surely he won't do it for another season. On the other hand, Conte had to play 3-4-3 because the wingbacks we had were mediocre and for 3-5-2 you really need to have extremely good wingbacks or otherwise the whole system falls apart. The whole 3-4-3 was a huge compromise on all levels and it still worked amazingly well. Let's see what Conte can do next season if the board will buy the players he wants.
-
Signing him is another indication that Conte wants to play 3-5-2. There's no way he could function properly in a two man midfield next to Kante.
-
For 50 million it's a bargain. PAY IT!
-
I wonder how much Celtic is getting out of this. 15-20%?
-
If we get him, it's pretty clear that Conte wants to play either 3-5-2 or 4-2-4 next season with a more technical shadow striker next to Lukaku. Can't see Conte playing him in a formation such as 3-4-3 where the lone striker needs to do so much more than just put the ball into the net.
-
Good for Liverpool, about time they got their defence sorted out. Also good for the fact that ManC will once again fail to sign a truly world class centre-back and they'll probably be forced to pay ridiculous sums of money for a 2nd tier player. We've got Christensen and Ake so I am not worried in the slightest.
