I think Cesc is done after this season. Even if he stays, he will normally just be a sub. Chelsea cannot go another two windows without putting more into their centre mid and wingback positions. Won't be a need for Cesc's slow legs as a starter if CFC make the right moves.

ESPN have a good show about football, but not much otherwise. Guess they couldn't grab the rights for La Liga, Serie A, etc. because they have all that college throwball coverage. The situation at Chelsea needs to change. Emanalo wasn't good enough. What the hell is Marina going to do before next month or January? I would have interrupted Gab to ask: "Who is the dumbass of Chelsea Football Club that allowed de Bruyne to leave without a buyback clause???"
-
Interesting January window. Is Marina under MORE PRESSURE regardless of additional duties?

I doubt that it's one moment for anyone who did not like Emenalo. For me it's the general ineptitude at Chelsea that fails to build a strong squad 2 men deep across the formation with quality throughout year after year after year. Combine this with the fact that we had a well-rounded squad in 2005 and our relative strength at that moment put us on solid ground in England and across Europe then compare those early Abramovich years to what we've seen since and for me CFC haven't not risen to expectations since. Do I care if my disgust is misdirected because I don't know who is making the decisions at Chelsea? No. Why give a fuck? What I saw through the years was a number of years wherein Chelsea failed to surround Drogba with top talent after Robben and Duff departed and now we're seeing it again with Hazard. No one demonstrates vision and execution at a club that many of us (one decade ago) thought WOULD reflect Roman's supposed ambitions and the hope of fans around the globe. At what point did Chelsea became a consistent threat to the big clubs across Europe while being able (not every single match) to shift into total football gear domestically regardless of who is packing it in deep defensively? Emenalo did things for the club, but he wasn't the one to make the difference for the 1st team squad (on and off the pitch and throughout the squad). I'm tired of seeing squad shortcomings then bullshit about expectations and blaming managers. Someone at this club needs to take responsibility and execute a vision that gets reflected through quality on the pitch.
-
If true, more responsibility and blame for Granovskaia, so one step closer to her being gone.
-
Should we have a good reason to believe that this stuff is true? Admittedly, we signed some very good young talent while Emenalo was a work. What happened to it all without real vision at the club though? Maybe myself and others are entirely wrong about Emenalo and the problems at Chelsea are entirely due to others at the club --and the owner. Where does this story go from here? I hope Granovskaia is gone soon. What about the rest of the board? Certainly feels like Chelsea have been a club with no coherent vision for much longer than most Chelsea fans are willing to admit.
-
I swear this guy operated like a man playing Football Manager or a FIFA career mode difficulty setting we've not yet seen. Glad he's gone.
-
I'm not sure that CFC's lack of vision for the club will be remedied by changing out the DoF. If the new guy has Roman's ear at all times and communicates very well, then maybe there's a chance but WHO at the club would he communicate his vision to other than Roman? Who among the board really knows football?
-
I wish we could see another Inzaghi this generation.
-
We should just bomb out of the CL and buy a new LWB and FWD in January. Go for top 4 again, build in the summer.
-
Mourinho can suck it. Still glad we're rid of him.
-
Good play so far, except that we still have a grandma at LWB.
-
Abramovich and Granovskaia out.
-
Abramovich and Granovskaia out.
-
I think Gary and Willian are the two top candidates to leave us. I don't understand why CFC didn't have the sense to buy Harry Maguire and let Cahill be a backup or sell him.
-
Tell me: when Eden Hazard gets the ball on the wing, what has Chelsea offered as pacey, skilled support to him since he's been here when every time two defenders seal off lanes to reach the central striker and we have had zero threat from LB/LWB or from centre midfield? Look at the other side of the pitch; is it any better? Diego and Fabregas offered more to punch our way through defenders but those threats are basically gone and done.
-
Because the opponent knows how to cope with our threats now and Chelsea's lineup offers no threat from the wingbacks and very little from centre midfield, while the RF/RW is a goal threat about 30% of the time AT BEST. Our buildup play wasn't even that great last season, but counterattacks were effective early in the season and halfway through the season. Now we are stifled with meager goalscoring threats in our side and the players, like Hazard still don't have have attack support/link-up play they need. Hazard is frustrating himself sometimes, but IMO it's all down to the fact that our side haven't exhibited flowing football much since Eden came to Chelsea. Interplay is poor at Chelsea; the times when our play does flow with speed and accuracy are exceptional moments for us. Conte could not change that overnight and for the long term without more fiscal support from the board.
-
Ruedi--Christensen--Luiz--Azpi Drink---Kante---Baka Pedro--Morata-----Hazard At this point, IDK what a good lineup is with this squad. Again, left back is a problem unless Kenedy becomes a viable starter any week now.
-
Abramovich and Granovskaia out.
-
Abramovich and Granovskaia need to leave. Not fair to evaluate the manager given the circumstances, ie. you don't change two variables at the same time. Of course the other logic would be to scrap everything and start over, but who advocates for that? The idiotic answer is sacking another manager, so whoever is thinking this is completely wrong-headed. See: history.

Vero, ma... Chelsea need better wingbacks and better fowards too. I don't know how Chelsea will do much better (compared to other "big" clubs or PL clubs) buying only one new centre midfielder per window transfer, but I am guessing not particularly well when that one player isn't even a proven top player. We don't want to destroy Kante's legs while having no one else in centre midfield. Owner and/or board needs to be changed quickly at this club; that's the answer. Ales: although Serie A titles mean something in Italia, I think most people who know European football well enough know that Serie A was weak for a number of years until more money arrived for some clubs (both in Milan) recently. Juve was already the biggest spender in Italy, so while Conte won titles, Juve were a tier above the rest of Serie A just in terms of money and personnel; nevermind the manager. I like Conte, but mainly because I think he's a good coach at training. Tactically on the pitch, and tactically with/against a club's board? We will see.

Looks to me that we'd be better off having Roman sell the club to a group that has ambition and vision for a football club rather than pissing about with a budget team and a constant stream of new managers.
