  1. Vesper likes donkeywater in the morning. Did you have chocolate -AND- coffee for breakfast?
  2. Just put in another striker and cross more. Problem is, Sarri always starts Jorginho and gets 70% possession so what is a Kante supposed to do for 90 minutes???
  3. Chelsea should be very aggressive for attackers in the January window and grab defenders and maybe another attacker in the summer. Getting attackers in January should mean Eden has better reasons to stay. I think (hope?) Madrid will be in a transition phase for 2-3 seasons even though their captain and some other strong players remain there. Eden Hazard coming to Madrid will NOT re-ignite the drive for more trophies while Ramos is young enough. However, if Madrid were to buy the top striker before the summer window or early, I suppose there would be greater reason to think Madrid can re-shape themselves quickly. So, this is one big reason why Chelsea should be grabbing 1 or 2 high quality players as early as they can --before Madrid or anyone else can act.
  4. We're one or two players away (departing club) from being a completely mediocre side with a few excellent players that turn heads.
  5. The problem begins with getting Mourinho back, not getting someone like Klopp as manager and the decisions thereafter. Apparently we have another manager who does NOT rotate, nor does he play young players often enough. For anyone who thinks that there's nothing wrongheaded about this management preference for experienced players only, you should look to Barca, RM, and other clubs with big budgets who have seen their young players in the starting eleven regularly in past seasons. Nice start by Sarri, but I think we need to decide on how important top 3 is while acknowledging we won't win the league with our lack of scoring players. Sarri should be using more of our talented young players soon. I agree with you Mana. We need better goalscorers up top and some options at fullback and centre back that we lack. Not sure about how Sarri is setting up the centre midfield. We don't look at all like a side that wins the PL; remove Hazard from lineup and what do we have?
  6. Isn't this guy another one who insists on only playing on the left wing? Don't know how that helps us.
  7. yeah, I don't know how to rate the players because I've spent so little time watching football in the past years plus this season. I just want us to get someone how is a deadeye shooter and Alario has that reputation even if he doesn't have Bailey's speed/strength. We simply don't have goals in our squad. Think we'll need some new fullbacks and another centre back soon enough, but the goals problem is probably the most paramount thing near-term. Is Belotti off the radar now?
  8. Seems to me that the Argentine striker for Leon's side in Germany is the better all-around finisher. I don't really know what Sarri thinks of a player like Gabbiadini, but he is supposed to have a GREAT left foot for shooting and I'm sure that he's not all that expensive.
  9. I just want to know whether Sarri is recognizing now that Willian can't do anything for him. I've yet to watch the full match, but good to see that Barkley scored. edit: update, I watched most of this match and Kepa is like our DeGea, but maybe he's stronger than DeGea in his first season and definitely more confident. Nice play from us once Willian was removed.
  10. Don't know what to think of Paul Allen as an owner, but American sports club/team owners aren't all bad; the problem would probably be his lack of football history even though he's invested in the Seattle Sounders. However, the right kind of relationship with a rich owner is always just around the corner regardless of who it is; he could fall in love with Chelsea for a while and help with the new stadium project. I think a new owner will mean continued investment in the club but also maybe a re-design of the new stadium(?). The big question is whether or not there is a shared vision for the future between owner(s) and the functioning organization even in the case of a dispassionate owner.
  11. See how well he does versus the best clubs, not just the weaker sides this season.
  12. Vesper, Your impatience with Chelsea is the same old story for me (since Robben was sold and Duff departed, Makelele left, then Carvalho, etc.). I wish Chelsea would assemble a true world class side again. It's arguably harder to do now compared to 2005,but it can be done. Chelsea should probably be sold by Roman and then we can move on to doing things right if we have the right people in charge. Probably should give up on Spanish strikers too, FFS.
  13. Someone has surely written a good essay on the unique brand of antagonistic, cynical, and frequently anti-solidarity culture of the English and the Americans (as opposed to unity, solidarity, fraternity, acceptance, true eclecticism, etc.). Maybe the only things that create solidarity among those on the right (because they would also kill one another within their own right wing tribe) are hate, fascism, xenophobia, machismo (toxic masculinity, chauvinism), and defense of patriarchal society on the verge of loss and powerlessness (esp. among white men).
  14. We need another scoring forward in January or a couple of them lined up in advance of the summer window. Over-reliance on Hazard and a slow left back for scoring isn't enough for a club still aspiring to be a "big club" that can take on any European side and win the PL without having to watch other weakened Premier League clubs fail (as in 2017, 2016, 2015).
  15. Hazard is sensational and it will be a real shame if Chelsea do not get another scoring forward to play with him in January or have a couple of scoring fowards lined up for the summer window in advance.
  16. Yea, I understand, but I do NOT like having our top players come on to pull out a win every round --and our squad has a definite lack of scoring and overall efficacy in and around the box -esp. up top, Hazard aside.
  17. Handicapped by Moses and Morata, it's a wonder that we've won this. I still think Barkley's butt was offside on that first goal.
  18. Morata for table tennis Player of the Year.
  19. We need another player who can do something like that. Too bad the one we had plays for Liverpool. ...and he's coming on now.
  20. With the squad we have, it's better we're not in this competition any further.
  21. If Giroud is not playing, then put Barkley in as CF and replace Moses on RW with Odoi.
