I think he could play anywhere. The way he's pressing, tackling and intercepting non stop has really surprised me, I never thought he had that in his locker, add that to the pace and acceleration he's been showing leads me to think he can be moulded to play in any attacking position. He's got the technique, skill and the ability to play with either foot, he's only 19, I'm curious to see what he'll be like when he's 22.
-
The gulf in class between him and Cahill is immense. Two games since he's been back, only one goal conceded.
-
His second was a beauty. 10 goals and 7 assists so far this season.
-
What the fuck are you talking about? Who the fuck said anything about 100 million but you? I'm just stating what the obvious, we should have bought a fucking midfielder but didn't because of Mourinho's fucking whim.
-
No, my gripe with Mourinho is that he had the money, targets and backing of the board all at his disposal to bring in a much needed top class CM/DM before the start of the season but he refused because he had already promised Lampard a starting berth week in week out regardless of his performances, and now he's complaining he hasn't quite got what it takes, in terms of playing personnel, to really compete for things. It's as simple as that. We had 50 million to spend on Willian and Andre but not enough dough to buy a world class midfielder? Did we sign a 20 year old lad to play or was it because of Jose's whim and determination to keep Lampard happy?
-
Mourinho is playing the psychologist for a bit of extra motivation for some of them. There is no way in hell he thinks Lampard deserves another year given his expectations to always play. There's no place for him in the midfield duo if we wanna get any where when it comes to competing with the top dogs.
-
Shitty how? I wasn't referring to today's match. I meant along the season. Lampard has no business playing in there, and even though we weren't great today we were much better without him. He's 36 and can't cover any ground, therefore he's not the answer and shouldn't be playing there. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't thinking straight.
-
I don't buy this difficult transitional period Mourinho keeps trying to imply. IF anything we are only going through it because he insists in playing Lampard 3 times a week in a position he can't play in. Take him out of the equation, get somebody there - boom! - we're suddenly exponentially better.
-
Were are indisputably a better, stronger, faster and more balanced team without Lampard in the pivot. Yaya Toure and Fernandinho are the benchmark, Essien and Ramires worked well today, but we still need better than what we have.
-
He bossed it today.
-
Eden and Willian were superb!
-
There were a few players like him in the summer, the board even approached Fernandinho before Mourinho returned and made Shakthar an offer but City topped it and he headed north. Mourinho didn't sign one because he never wanted one, he had the bank and the options, it was his call.
-
Great to see Lampard on the bench and not shoehorned into a position he doesn't belong to. For once we can have some balance in the side. Fernandinho and Yaya Toure are the sort of players top sides like ours should be aspiring to field in that position and not a 36 year old attacking player who can't defend nor cover. I like the line up and think we'll fucking batter these rugby playing cunts.
-
Fernandinho and Toure showing the value of having powerful, but skilful, central midfielders. Now all I see is Mourinho complaining that we don't have the players to really push for the title and yet it was his decision to make Lampard a first 11 player as soon as he returned. Compare Fernandinho & Toure to Ramires - who I think is on their level - and Lampard, and it's really a non contest.
-
And yet people doubt Cahill will be here past June. We'll be signing two CBs at least, even if Luiz goes. We've got two who are almost ripe for first team football already plus hopefully Zuoma.
-
That would make sense if we weren't looking to bring CBs in. We've been linked with a fair few. both as squad players and first teamers. I think he's gone in June, even if Luiz goes as well.
-
Well, nothing changes the fact you deep down know Lampard is indeed past it and should be nowhere near our first 11, especially in the pivot, and Cahill is not good enough. You're just not honest enough to admit it.
-
I can't fucking believe they've assigned this hack to referee our game. I wonder what Mark Clusterfuck's plans are to make sure we lose tomorrow...
-
No, Lampard is past it - and should never be fielded as a DM/CM - and Cahill never had it. It's as simple as that. Frank should be playing 20 minute cameos behind the striker in a 4-3-3 and not 3 fucking games a week whilst Gary should, and no doubt will, be shipped out in the summer. My points may be harsh, but they are nonetheless true.
-
I agree, but it shows how some here are just blatant hypocrites. Lampard has been horrendous as well, but not a word is said about it.
-
He's got no choice, we know it, the supporters from other clubs know it, even the bloody commentators mention it constantly that Lampard has no business playing there and the board are definitely aware of the problem, so much so Lampard was gone before Mourinho returned. We've been linked with far too many midfielders recently, there's no smoke without fire. I think Lampard is playing 3 games a week because from January on he's gonna be what he should have been from the start of the season, a bit part player, getting 20 minutes here and there behind the striker.
-
Mourinho will only succeed here again when he no longer allows loyalty to trump honesty. It's as simple as that. At the moment he's just digging his own grave and undermining our potential.
-
I'm certain of it. It's our weak link. Our midfield is slow, cumbersome and ineffective. Look at the other top sides in Europe and compare theirs to ours, it's beyond a joke. We have been linked with all sorts CM/DMs since October, it definitely gonna happen, Mourinho is not gonna pull the plug on it this time.
-
I have no doubt we will get a boss DM/CM in January, cup tied or not.
-
I'd love to see Lampard on the bench as he's been holding us back this season and Oscar in the pivot next to Ramires with Schurrle on the wing. They wouldn't go more than 5 seconds in possession of the ball.
