I would only sell the boy if we had a buy-back clause of 15 million so we could bring him back in two years. He'll be a player at 24.
-
Bit of a non story really. Believe it or not footballers go clubbing every once in a while...
-
I'd play him at n10, Oscar in midfield with Ramires, if it goes tits up, change it to a 4-3-3 and get Lampard on to play off the striker (preferably Ba) and just go for it.
-
He had an even lower release clause last summer, when Liverpool met it, but he was merely using them to get a better contract with Atletico. I think it's highly unlikely for him to leave in January in the form he's in. Once the summer transfer window opens though, he's as good as gone. Atletico will get another truck load of money, Costa will get another monstrous pay rise, and both parties will move apart grinning. Negredo is a beast but Costa is much better, faster and stronger. He's so good he was playing out wide last season whilst Falcao was still there. We could even play two strikers in some games and just watch Costa and - a then more developed - Lukaku just bulldozing their way through helpless defensive lines. It would be a thing of beauty.
-
Arsenal play a similar system, they use a mix of Flamini, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere there. They can't compete with the hybrid monsters of Fernandinho - Toure but they deal well with the rest of the league. I don't see why we shouldn't try something similar. It certainly can't be any worse than what we have been playing there.
-
Yep, that's exactly how I see it.
-
If Lampard plays, we're fucked.
-
Defensively Lampard was inexistent.
-
Mourinho is gonna get the bullet if he persists playing past-it players. That's all it comes down to really. It's unfair on the lads who perform to have to carry dead weight every single match we play. It's fucking preposterous.
-
Our CM is the reason why we're so inconsistent. Our attacking midfield compensates and brushes over this flaw, but that's not gonna happen in every game. It's one of the weakest in the league.
-
I think he would be very compatible to our attacking midfield. But fuck strikers, I want a fucking midfielder first. Ours at the moment if a fucking farce, by far the weakest link in the squad and one of the weakest in the league.
-
He's not leaving At. Madrid and nor are they letting him go. They're tied in first with Barca in La Liga, doing very well in the CL and it's a World Cup year. He'll be gone in June though.
-
Mourinho clearly doesn't like him, as he got benched for Luiz a few times, and Jose doesn't like Luiz either. There have been rumours about us signing a few CBs since he returned, I have no doubt we will sign one or two top class CBs and one or two youngsters to compete with our other two upcoming CBs. Cahill is a goner in June, he'll be back at a midtable club where he belongs.
-
Cahill's very best is not even close to being good enough. He's gone in the summer, and I for one can't wait for that to happen.
-
I would pack the midfield and play Schurrle as a false 9, and wouldn't even give a fuck.
-
Our CM is even more of a calamity when he isn't in it. January can't come soon enough so this guy can get someone better to play next to him.
-
Wish he'd played tonight. So unlucky with that injury.
-
I bet Cahill is scared of his own shadow. He's a mediocre player who once in every 15 games comes up with a decent clearance. Other than that he enjoys backing away from strikers and passing the buck.
-
I mentioned Willian but Andre also had a good game, that's 2 out of 14 then...
-
No chance of that happening in January though.
-
Amen to that. I can't wait to see a few of those out of the squad for good. We need to field players based on performances and ability and not loyalty.
-
Mourinho is undermining himself by playing Lampard, I think he's aware of it by now. I'm fully convinced we'll be a much much better side when we get a proper CM/DM in a few weeks once the transfer window opens.
-
He earned his bread tonight. Great display, too bad no one else followed suit.
-
Frank's role this season should be as an impact sub, second striker, attacking midfielder. We will win nothing with him in the centre of the park. He doesn't possess any of the skills required to play that role. Every team we play has miles and miles of space in front of our back 4 whenever he is in there.
-
I hope Mourinho wakes up once and for all and sees that Lampard should be nowhere near our midfield. Mikel - Lampard in front of the back four would barely make a decent Championship midfield at this stage. Embarrassing.
