Can't read too much into the win. Soton are awful. While the win was good, the tippy tappy passing at grandpa speeds is still a major concern. For me, Maresca is a Pep acolyte that focuses too much to 'ball retention' that he: A) Has his team playing football at grandpa speeds endlessly cycling possession in non-dangerous areas of the pitch. I thought that Fernandez and Mudryk were signings wanted specifically by Boehly&Eghbali… Do believe Gusto, Nkunku, Badiashile perhaps being more in line with Vivell but even then, it is widely reported we placed him on gardening leave due to Boehly/Eghbali/Clownlake giving the 2 clowns we have as co sporting directors more senior roles and responsibility? Comfortable win. Tough to expect anything else though against a team that poor but Maresca isn’t out of the woods yet. Have to keep a place in the top 4.
