The thing is, they are NOT stupid, certianly not financialy ignorant. All of the principal singular individuals involed most closely are all multi-billionaires, and ones who are doing nothing but getting richer in terms of overall net worth ona yearly basis. The combined entities that own Chels or are directly or indirectly involved with Chels have, atm, over half a trillion USD combined in assets under management. They have hundreds of quants in their combined employ, billions worth of computing and deep analytical systems, vast, globally interconnected relationships, decades of hyper complex financial experience, etc. What IS becoming openly apparent is that they DO, at taproot level, look at us as an asset first and a sporting entity 3rd, 4th, or lower down the list. AS long as they can keep the money churn and profit-taking (profits extracted from the investor classes discussed in the video) going, they place our performances at sporting levels far further down the list. There is a real chance that if they see the longer-term project (let's say a window extending out into the mid 2030s) as turning towards an arc of diminishing returns IF kept whole, then they will, if the numbers say it is more profitable over the mid-term, simple strip mine the club by extractig max profits via short-terms mass sales, and dump the whole thing, leaving it a smoldering heap of ashes and char. THAT is, unfortunately, an altogether far too common outcome for firms who get swallowed up by hedge fund hyenas and private equity jackals.

Good stuff, really these guys that are running the club are dumb. I had thought they turn the corner last season with Maresca, but then they don't back him, and don't get the deals done. Sack him and get an even worse manager.

Hope we can win this one so I can recover from my Chelsea induced state of mind, no appetite the whole day, my coffee for the first time ever tasted bitter, been grumpy, argumentative and aggressive the whole day, so please just win, theres no immediate solution to our keepers and defence, we simply dont have the players for that level. Go well All,

Well deserved if true, no objection.

What Does Chelsea’s £355m Loss Really Mean? Business of Sport Chelsea have posted the biggest pre-tax loss in English football history - €407M in a single season. We break down what the UEFA numbers really mean, the stadium problem, the commercial failures, and why Clearlake’s private equity model may be heading for a very uncomfortable reality check.

Neto is in big trouble so typical of our staggering lack of discipline he probably will get a multi-game ban from all UEFA comps maybe 5 games UEFA Statement Statement | @UEFA “Disciplinary proceedings have been instigated against Chelsea player Pedro Lomba Neto for unsporting behaviour in accordance with Article 15(1)(a)(v) of UEFA Disciplinary Regulations. UEFA’s disciplinary bodies will take a decision on this case in due course.”

Matt Law of The Telegraph: ‘With every significant defeat comes a natural reaction to call for change. Change the goalkeeper, change the defenders, change the project. But the best and easiest change Chelsea could make for next season would be to remove the Club World Cup winners’ badge from their shirts. ‘Vice-captain Enzo Ferndandez perfectly highlighted just what the badge stands for when he pointed to it after equalising against Paris St-Germain in the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. ‘His peacocking celebration was pure arrogance and that is exactly what the badge represents. ‘World champions? You’re having a laugh. The Blues are not even the best team in London right now. ‘For all of the bravado and big talk, Chelsea find themselves in exactly the same position as the club they love to laugh at – Tottenham Hotspur – as they contemplate the prospect of trying to overturn an embarrassing 5-2 deficit in the second leg. ‘There can be no doubt that winning the Club World Cup created an arrogance beyond the sense of achievement that has helped to cultivate a head-loss culture within the club. ‘Players, presumably under the impression that the Club World Cup badge has made them untouchable, have regularly talked their way into trouble with referees and found themselves at the centre of ludicrous incidents, such as Pedro Neto pushing over a ball boy. ‘Even co-owner Jose Feliciano (not the guy who wrote Feliz Navidad) was poking fun at Arsenal ahead of Chelsea’s trip to PSG, reminding them that his club won two trophies last season. Maybe somebody should remind Felicano that Chelsea only qualified for the Club World Cup by winning the Champions League in the Roman Abramovich era. Or that the Chelsea’s route to the final saw them face the might of Los Angeles, Flamengo, El Tunis, Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense.’

More Disasi noise West Ham will consider signing Axel Disasi on a permanent transfer if they avoid relegation from the PL this season. However, that is only if he is available for a price well below the £38.6m Chelsea paid. - @MrDomSmith

Like I keep saying, they realised that Sanchez needed more flexibility to go long, and he had an insane game in this final - play players to their strengths, learn from what came before you - this is Liam’s biggest mistake so far

this is the best video on the game I have seen so far

So many things to address, but let's start at the back A few articles on various things coming up soon https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/so-many-things-to-address-but-lets We have a lot to address after last night, right? The general situation, Liam Rosenior, the players, the squad build, so much debate going on right now. I’ll get to some other bits in more articles at the weekend and into next week. But for now, let’s start at the back. I’ve never been Robert Sanchez’ biggest fan and despite his turn of form lately, I still don’t have full confidence when he is playing. I would sell him in an instant if we replaced him with a better option. Whilst I will acknowledge how much better he has been and his good form of late, I still don’t think he’s a top goalkeeper and fully complete. His shot stopping is superb, coming for crosses he can be good but not always. But playing out from the back is not his thing. I’d sell him and believe we can do much better. I’ve never rated or been comfortable with Filip Jorgensen, even with the ball at his feet. So with all of the above mentioned, I’ve been absolutely baffled to see Liam Rosenior make the decision to select Jorgensen as his number one over Sanchez. It’s absolutely wild, really. Rosenior clearly sees Jorgensen as a better ball playing goalkeeper, which is what he wants to play his brand of football. And it’s been confirmed by decent sources that he’s told Jorgensen that he is his number one now, despite not admitting that in public interviews. Massive changes to make midseason, really ambitious ideas and huge risks. Mauricio Pochettino did this with Djordje Petrovic over Sanchez, and even Enzo Maresca also tried it with Jorgensen over Sanchez. But neither of these moves worked and they always went back to Sanchez. And now, here we are, with yet another manager, going through yet the same damn thing again. Why? Haven’t they worked this out yet? Playing out from the back is NOT just about the goalkeeper and also, it does NOT need to become gospel! Why can’t we do what Maresca realised we simply HAD to do with Sanchez and allow him more flexibility to go long or short and only play out short when it was deemed safe to? Why must we literally put ourselves under immense pressure every time we have the ball at the back? It’s such a massive risk every single time. It literally stunts our confidence and throws fear into our minds. That is NOT a good way to play football. High risk, low reward. You are literally handing the opponent a goal if you get it wrong. And when you have Jorgensen out there doing rabonas and drag backs as our last man, it is more often than not going to result in a goal against us. So why do we do it? We must we always insist on playing out short and having our goalkeeper as a centre back? It’s the epitome of everything I hate about modern football. Jorgensen had 64 touches in the match against PSG, the only Chelsea player with more was Marc Cucurella (66). Why is our goalkeeper having the second most amount of touches of any of our players? Surely we want our creative and controlling players to have that many touches? Maybe I’m just old fashioned… 🙄😅 Piss off with that!! John Terry in 2025: “I think everyone is obsessed with possession and playing out from the back, it drives me crazy!” Maybe it’s finally time to start listening to advice from legends of our club who know the game, have played the game, and knows what they’re talking about? Oh no, they’re just too arrogant and know it all, apparently…. Sigh. I know it’s just part of modern day football, I get that. But it doesn’t mean it is right. Play to your strengths. If you have a better goalkeeper, a better centre back, and better players who are comfortable playing out, then maybe you can do it more often. But not when you don’t have the players to do it. If you aren’t good enough under pressure at the back then just don’t do it. That’s on the head coach. How can this lot who built the squad look at this every week and continue to insist on using managers who play this way? Really makes you wonder, right? You want to play a certain way, get the players who can play a certain way. And finally, Jorgensen walking off and ignoring his captains calls to go and clap the traveling fans in Paris would be enough for me to be cancelling his contract immediately. Again, call me old fashioned, but if you do that, if you are that entitled and ignorant, then just get the hell out of my club. I understand you’re upset and frustrated, but it’s not the fans fault that you fucked up. We aren’t doing this. Own your mistakes, apologise for them, make up for them next game. Don’t go off sulking about it all.

Where are the standards at Chelsea Football Club? Why do we keep beating ourselves game after game? Why cannot we play at a high level for 90 minutes? Three SPTC insiders mention Chelsea transfer target this week, something is definitely happening We have some very strong info on a Blues transfer target https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-three-sptc-insiders-mention We have had THREE of our SPTC sources mention the name of a Chelsea transfer target for the summer just this week in three separate bits of info given to us. And when that happens, which is very rare, it means that something is definitely happening there. This will be one worth noting and keeping a very close eye on as we head towards the summer transfer window, it has a feel of inevitability about it. So, our info from THREE different insiders this week, is that Chelsea’s interest in Morgan Rogers is very serious, and the fact that these three sources have mentioned it, means it more than has substance and likely something might be moving on it already. We will have to see exactly what is moving, if anything, but the fact we are hearing Rogers name mentioned by these three particular sources is quite significant. Rogers signed a new deal with Aston Villa recently, but our sources believe it contains some sort of release clause that is not impossible to trigger nor will it be that expensive to trigger. Again, we don’t have the details on that so we don’t know exactly about any clause, or even if there is 100% one in there. But the belief is that there is something there that makes Rogers attainable, which could link to this info we’ve heard. Not trying to hype anyone up with this [if you’re a Rogers fan] and I’m NOT saying we are definitely signing Rogers. He has many other clubs keen as well, including Liverpool as serious suitors. But it’s one of those rumours and links that just has a sense of inevitability about it. I guess our transfer targets though, will depend on whether we get Champions League football come the end of the season. So no point in getting too far ahead of ourselves with any links just yet.

I hope you are right but I just do not see the yank hedge fund billionaires dropping that type of cash (fee + salary) on a 27/28 yo not named Pessi (at that age), CR7 (at that age), or Mbappe, or Håland) there are only 4 and 'a quarter' actual (NOT potential, I mean world class NOW, proven) world class CFs actually even remotely available and would maybe, maybe come here (Kane would never come here even IF Bayern sell him, same for Håland IF Citeh sold him, or Ousmane Dembélé IF PSG sell him, and who, BTW, turns 30yo at the end of next season, plus Hugo Ekitiké is NOT for sale, and by listing him, plus the fact we already have João Pedro, means EVERY single world class (IMHO) CF on the planet atm is listed in this post of mine) the 4 and a quarter: Osimhen (turns 28yo in December 2026) Lautaro the only one, (other than, of course, Lewa, see below), that may not cost over 100m quid, and that is because he soon is 29yo, in August 2026) Julián Alvarez (turns 27 in January 2027) insanely expensive, and has regressed a bit this year (I do still rate him, but not for the price Atleti want, ie 200m euros, the most I would pay for Alvarez is around £110 to £115m or so) Alexander Isak (turns 27yo in September 2026, and would be a staggeringly large gamble IF Pool even sell him, as he will still cost over 100 million pounds and is a glassman atm) and finally, the 'quarter': Lewandowski ('quarter' because he is 38yo in August 2026, so maybe, MAYBE has 2 or 3 remotely feasible (EPL-wise) years left) TBH, why the fuck would he come here to this clown car ??? LOLOLOL that is IT for proven world class CFs out there (unless you get into ancient CR7 and Benz, who both even older than Lewa) no, Matheus Cunha (who is not for sale anyway) is not a world class CF number 1 he is better as a SS in a front 2 and also often plays at LW, he has only played 11 games all season as a CF number 2 he only has only scored 6 total goals in 2100 minutes, and that is for an on-fire Manure, and only 2 of his goals have come as a CF neither are (the rest of the top 40 most valued CFs) Benjamin Sesko (still only 22yo, and deffo can get there IMHO, I would take him in a heartbeat for a fair price, but zero chance Manure sell him now IMHO) Omar Marmoush Nick Woltemade Viktor Gyökeres Marcus Thuram Samu Aghehowa (massive injury atm) Igor Thiago Ferran Torres Kai Havertz Nicolas Jackson Rasmus Højlund Jørgen Strand Larsen Moise Kean Rayan (massive potential) Junior Kroupi (massive potential) Mateo Retegui Loïs Openda Serhou Guirassy Vitor Roque Pio Esposito (massive potential) Ange-Yoan Bonny (massive potential) Santiago Castro Evanilson Gonçalo Ramos Darwin Núñez Jonathan David Jean-Philippe Mateta Dušan Vlahović Jonathan Burkardt
