Whilst I agree with what you are saying is true, it is only true if you were talking about a club that hasn’t purchased a Gazillion players. If you combined all the wages from the endless amounts of players on the books (no exaggeration), you could most probably acquire a squad of far better quality by buying less in quantity and more in quality. The bloated roster could easily be trimmed and streamlined by cutting away the fat and brining in serious ballers whilst complying with PSR. The stadium excuse is being used a lot in recent times, which may be true but they could do more to help themselves by maybe getting a FOS sponsor and spending their money in more productive ways.

I agree, but now that we’ve put this structure in place it’s going to be super hard to bin it. You sign a player and put them on £200k+ (or much more in Osimhen’s case) and then you’d surely have all these players who we signed recently on “cheap” wages questioning why they aren’t on similar. Like if a top new signing is put on £200k per week players like Caicedo, Palmer, Cucu etc will quite rightly tell the club that they deserve that too. Then our wage bill explodes again. Now, you can say “who gives a shit, it’s not my money” and in the past we would all agree. But with PSR and whatever else combined with our tiny stadium and match day revenue I don’t think we really could do away with this wage structure and comply. Under the current circumstances we’re kind of locked in to either buying kids and praying they turn out like Palmer or Estevão or we buy good but not great senior players like your João Pedro’s, Pedro Neto’s, Garnacho’s etc who won’t demand top wages but are also not the very top level we need.

Yeah, this has all the makings of an ugly (as if it wasn't already) situation. Palmer showing discontent. Its not the first time he has expressed annoyance against Maresca (remember his comments after the conference league final) .The fact we go onto lose the match against Villa after his sub doesn't help Maresca. Yes, Palmer was below par in that match but the subs that came on afterwards hardly covered themselves in glory. Maresca on the other hand is probably at war with the board, and to be fair, Eghbali & co. have left him short-handed with their transfer strategy. No defensive reinforcements, and a lot of money spent on spent on squad-level wingers and underperforming strikers. Unfortunately, none of this gives Maresca any leverage.

🔴💣Cole Palmer was not too pleased with being substituted against Aston Villa. He asked Maresca’s assistant Danny Walker why they had decided to hook him, and gave the back of his seat a smack. At full-time, Chelsea’s hierarchy walked across the pitch to head to the home changing room as usual. The whole gang was there – Behdad Eghbali, co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as recruitment chiefs Joe Shields David Fallows and Sam Jewell. Maresca may face questions, from inside and outside, on why his side are throwing away so many leads. (@kierangill_DM)

You have to pay the high wages to get the best players. Everyone uses the Sterling situation but it was obvious he wasn’t worth those wages and was already underperforming at City. The recruitment needed to be better and getting Osimhen in his prime was no brainer. They need to lift this wage and age cap if we are to ever compete again.
-
Much as I hate it, from their POV I can understand it. At least for players over a certain age. They want to avoid another Sterling situation at all costs where we’re stuck with deadweight for years because no other club can afford his mammoth wages. Limiting ourselves wage wise on players 25 and under is silly, though.
-
What baffles me the most is this stupid wage cap nonsense.. it doesn’t even make sense!! You can get Osimhen in on his wage demands and it surely won’t be more than Garnacho, Gittens, Delap, Pedro & Jackson combined?? Osimhen would be far more beneficial than having all the said players in the books like we currently have.

"Worked with them at Man City" Ah yes, the most shining hallmark of any top class player. And he's a U-21 international too!

yes we will need to wait more 6 years for them to sell the club to a proper owner and board we are wasting years for the club with this board
-
Should’ve signed Osimhen. Haven’t had a striker opponents had to worry about since Diego Costa
-
Hes the only one manager who consistently changing the back four! No one in the world is doing this.. if starting back four are healthy you have to play them.. Its simple as that... But only Temu Pep cant understand that.
-
The board won't change anytime soon, the sacking of the manager will come before anything..... when it's a culmination of both being naive and stupid.
-
the board thought that could be more smarter than the other teams buying only young players with some potential
-
He;s too indecisive both with his team selections and his subs, in fact indecisive is too much of a nice word, more like idiotic or bizarre It's as if he is shit scared of upsetting people for either not playing them or given them cameo roles. Maresca roulette
-
yes I think he is not good enough for us but our main problem is the board
-
It's not when you think about correctly, we buy bog average shite for big money
-
The way Maresca is carrying on with all this protection shite, both Josh and Estevao will be gone soon
-
you need to put some context cucurella is better than hall
-
🔴The same thing happened with Pochettino, who simply left Lewis Hall out of the team and ignored him, whereupon he fled to Newcastle and is now playing brilliantly there!!! And Tuchel almost cost Chelsea the loss of Levi Colwill because he didn't rate him either. Fortunately, Todd Boehly fought hard for him to stay at the time.🙌
-
Raheem Sterling prefers to stay in London but remains frozen out of the 1st team and can leave if a move to suit all parties is found. Axel Disasi is also training separately and can leave permanently. (@MrDomSmith)

I believe that failing ucl and next year maresca wont be with us

Big European clubs are following Acheampong’s level of game time. And are very interested in a commitment (@Standard) 😡⭕️Enzo Maresca's behavior and his treatment of Eatevao, Josh, and Hato are absolutely alarming!!!

Im glad to see this. I really believe that with mcatee we will be able to fight for titles! Come on, Board! Sign this world class player 😄
