what is this picture about? From when he was an Everton player?

I think Mourinho is counting on two things (as he seems pretty confident about Rooney)

1) his ability to discipline and manage players

2) Rui Faria's amazing work with players physically

3) Whatever remaining motivation Rooney still has regarding WC next year

I still don't want him here, but if he comes, I really hope he does better than Torres. He has flop written all over him - just like Torres had.

I was right about Torres and the week I've spent cursing and moaning is still fresh in my mind. I hope I'm wrong this time IF he comes.

Already loyalty has gone out of the window, it won't be, and isn't about that now. Moyes has publicly slapped him in the face with his comments basically, and in amongst all this Rooney hasn't muttered a word. He's been sent back from pre-season 'apparently injured' We have now made an offer and all of a sudden United are backed against the wall, let's see how the 'special' United deal with this eh?

He won't matter about a loyalty payment, not in this situation that has developed now, it's in a bad state now, it's gone too far IMO and something has to give.

Well this is the way I see it.

United was only attractive because of SAF.

After SAF has gone what much they have to make it attractive to a lot of players?

Today is all about location, money and of course the competition for trophies.

Giving that in the league you got already TWO teams that pay big amount of money and one with a good location, then people will chose these other two. Especially when United no longer got a top manager.

This is why for me I don't fall in love with managers like you guys do with Mourinho. Yes Mourinho is great and everything, but the main fact that keep making us attractive is the money, location and availability to challenge trophies.

It will continue to be like that even after Mourinho leaves, as long we got someone rich like Roman. Because that is the norm of today's football world!

The Mourinho factor is huge in this Wayne Rooney saga IMO.

United was attractive because of SAF but let's not discount the fact they are one of the biggest teams in the world here, and regardless of Moyes they are still a big pull, massive in fact.

We fall in love with Jose because he is special, special to this club and not only that but a special manager. Jose is, and will be a big pull in transfers for whoever we go for, anyone top notch player or young kid would want to work under him, so yes, Jose is massive for us.

I love how we have laid our cards right on the table with this bid, Rooney comes back home and Moyes tells every man and his dog he is back up at best.

Then along came Chelsea and said "BOOM there is our bid for your un happy player" meanwhile Jose keeps popping his head out of the bin to check on progress..... :getin:

Over to you Rooney and United.

Graham Hunter on the radio saying that:

a) Chelsea did ask if United would be interested in Mata or Luiz as part of the deal.
United are determined not to allow Rooney go to an English club unless they get a ridiculous bid. Says they're determined not to let Stretford force the club's hand, especially at the start of the Moyes era. Hunter basically says the club are very aware that they're in a state of flux at the moment and want to manage perceptions carefully so as not to suggest they're in a weak position.

He says that's from two United sources, one at executive level.

I think we all have to remember if rooney comes or not he is injured at the moment and may not even start the season.

Do we really want to buy a Injured player, We already have torres :) hehe.

If rooney comes for £30mil or less and scores 20 to 30 goals a season he is worth it -

I cant see chelsea ever giving Mata and Luiz up for him never. Jose has said so and that will stick.

If we get him and he plays well with R.L or BA or Torres then thats good news for chelsea football club.

lets all wake up and see the bull shit paper stories tomorrow :)

I want Rooney here. But not badly enough to lose Mata and or Luiz. I see them as the future heart of the club. They will be the next Lampard and JT if we're smart and keep them around.

Again you fail to see that it's about money, location as the most popular today.

Look even with out Mourinho we got hazard, Mata, Oscar, and such.

Why? Because of the "project"

Good money and good location.

Yes having someone like saf or Mourinho is nice, but the bigger factors in today's modern world is what I mentioned.

Sorry for being offtopic, but I have a question for those living in England - every day I'm reading all kind of tweets and quotes and so on. Can you please name the most reliable newspapers/sources from English media? A top5 maybe?

Trust absolutely nothing until it's officially reported on Sky Sports News. Don't mistake Sky Sports News rumours for deals being confirmed.

The rest are all rumours built on events.

No disrespect intended but what strengths would De Rossi bring to the team?

Better rounded player who can defend and contribute to attacking (numbers don't lie)? for some reason don't think we are going to change your mind though.

Just as I predicted earlier today: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gareth-bale-transfer-manchester-united-2060737

They'll use Bale to soften the blow of losing Rooney and to appease the angry fans. This is why the guy flew out of Australia I think. Us bidding for Rooney probably sped up the process of them going for him.
