Dean Richards, the former Wolves, Southampton, Bradford and Tottenham defender, has died at the age of 36.

Richards passed away on Saturday morning after losing his long-term battle with illness.

During his spell at Spurs Richards began to suffer from dizzy spells and headaches, and he was forced to retire in 2005 after taking medical advice.

In 2007 Richards was made youth-team coach at Bradford City, his hometown club and where he started his career.

A statement on the Bantams' website read: "The club are truly devastated to hear of the death of former Bradford City fans' favourite Dean Richards."

I remember him. Played many games for Wolves and did well at Southampton, before going to Tottenham. Not a bad player

R.I.P Dean!

Damn....

So many football players die young. I remember of Catalin Hildan, Dinamo Bucharest's "Unique Captain", who died on the pitch when he was only 24. I'm a big Dinamo supporter, and that was probably one of the saddest days of my life.

Reminds me of Antonio Puerta, Feher, Mark Vivien-Foe and others too.

That's why I don't like to hate any player, because I know how dangerous is what these men do.

Rest In Peace, Dean!

R.I.P

puts the "misery" of us probably not winning the premiership this season into perspective...

can remember him well, seen him play many times..i think i probably seen him play against Chelsea for all the clubs he played for.

He was a quality player(though we often would have good days when we played against him)..didn`t quite live up to his early promise,as at one point he looked like a future England star..kinda like an earlier version of Micah Richards,in more ways than one. (maybe they were related?) but none the less, for those of us who follow football closer than just the superstar names he will be remembered.
