It must be strange for him - never got a proper chance to show this club what he is capable of and now was a part of a big deal, for the club's good. I really really do hope he will shine at Benfica. Good luck boy, good luck.

EskWeston will probably correct me here (as will people who have watched him at Vitesse), but what I have seen of Matic shows him to be a very physical player; he is not afraid of making challenges. He is quite creative and has the potential to be a great playmaker, but he can be a little lazy at times and can 'go out' of games. But he is still a top youngster.

Huge midfielder (1.94) with great technique and a classy first touch. Quite strong and can pick out a pass, a bit slow on the ball and with decision making. All in all he is classy but slow. Being described as the next Ballack probably had something to do with both

Matic didn't look impressive at all in the summer games although to be fair not many players did and pre-season friendlies aren't much to judge on.

He just looked too gangly and slow footed to ever make the grade. A capable passer but sadly in my opinion he just wasn't good enough.

Does anybody know how he's been getting on in Holland?
