Madmax 9,219
Subotic would be able to get his work permit here. Rajko couldn't because he played only a few matches for National team because of Vidic, Subotic, Bisevac and Ivanovic. I'd really love to see Subo here, but I think our board will go for Cahill. No Kolarov? I'd imagine your first choice back 4 would be Ivan-Subotic-Vidic-Kolarov? I'd imagine your first choice back 4 would be Ivan-Subotic-Vidic-Kolarov?It is, but I named only CBs Not the WP issue. The fact that we fill all our international spots when we register our 20-man league for the PL.Sorry my bad, I was watching TV and didn't read it properly If Alex leaves wouldn't that leave a spot for Subo? Also, I expect that at least Kalou and Malouda leave at the end of season so there will be more space. Peace. 4,352
Perhaps.Though I could see the rationale behind the thinking. If it were someone like Cahill, for example, it might be a good buy. Subotic will be costly and since we have trouble with international players (player registration), Cahill could be a safer bet.Who knows though..Subotic would be able to get his work permit here. Rajko couldn't because he played only a few matches for National team because of Vidic, Subotic, Bisevac and Ivanovic. I'd really love to see Subo here, but I think our board will go for Cahill.@LDN : for the work permit, this ^edit : oops, just have seen you weren't talking about the work permit. As for Subotic/Cahill, of course Cahill will be cheaper than Subotic, if he doesn't sign a new contract. Though, Subotic is younger about three years than Cahill, and it does seem that the serbian is better (or at least have a better potential) than the englishman. That being said, all depends where Chalobah and Kalas are in our plans. If the board rates them highly and reckons them to have a futur at our club, then Cahill would be a better choice, as he wouldn't last long. But, I'd rather us to buy a right back, and to have Ivanovic as Terry's successor and buy a right back (or promote one from our academy) than to buy any defender. Randall 315
We got Ivanovic and Luiz! He is a very good prospect though.
Joker10 946
No thanks, he is not needed even if Alex leaves. He is going to cost over 20m and that is way too much for a 4th choice CB. Bring back Bruma for that spot.
Tomo 21,751
I really think we should go for him for these reason's.1. John Terry cannot go on forever and we really dont want to get ourself's in a Liverpool-Carragher situation here.2. Gary Cahill while he will be a good squad player for us is not a first choice for a team that want to chalenge on all fronts, Subotic is borderline world class and will only improve here.3. In the summer he will be 23 while Luiz will be 25, thats a top class partnership for the next 5 years.4 He might cost a bit but will have significant re sale value aswell. Tomo 21,751
maybe a £50m double switch Subotic and Gotze, in this current market thats a bargain.
Slam Dunk 1,442
Am I alone in thinking i'd rather us sign Hummels? Perhaps a more unlikely signing, as I know we've tracked Subotic for quite some time.

I think Gotze and Hummels for 50-ish Million would be a Good deal and one we really need.
Madmax 9,219
Hummels better i think....Indeed, but you can guarantee Bayern will be sniffing about if BVB ever think of a sale, what with Mats being a Bayern youth product.

I know you follow BVB so can I ask, why are they such a selling club? In the same season they won the Bundesliga, they sold one of their stars Nuri Sahin. Now they look like Subotic, Hummels & Gotze will leave. Is it a case of those stars not seeing enough ambition at BVB or are their books not in ordrer? Is it a case of those stars not seeing enough ambition at BVB or are their books not in ordrer?I wouldn't call BVB a selling club at all. Their only problem is that like every other German team, they're perennially in Bayern's shadow. They had some major problems with their finances were on the verge of liquidation around the mid 2000s but improved management thereafter means they're doing much much better now. Why they lose - or look likely to lose their better players is imo quite simply because they're not the biggest club in Germany, i.e they're not Bayern Munich. Sahin left because he of Madrid's interest. Who wouldn't want to play for Real? It'll be the same when it comes to Grosskreutz or Sven Bender or Hummels or Subotic or Gotze. Severinb 309
They have had great debt so they have to make money by selling players but it is getting better for them! The championsleague helped them too! That is why they could buy reus. But their history shows that they have always had good teams but could not manage to deal with the fame and money! Rmpr 8,977
I would love this player here, with Terry's retirement, this would be the perfect replacement to pair with Luiz!Subotic is solid at defending, is tall and very strong. He rarely position himself bad and usually can steal the ball from forwards without falling to the ground. Above all he is still 24 yo, so it would fit our new age policy. He also knows how to speak English because of his youth time at Florida. His contract ends in 2014, so this year would be a good transfer window to make a move...
