Is this really worth it to build a 60 000 seats stadium ? Because if we build a such stadium and make only 45 000 daily attendances, we will lose more money...

In anyway, if we gonna built a new stadium we must built it in the 'english style'. I mean a stadium like Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and many other... Not a stadium of the likes of The Emirates, it sucks !

The thing is, we're the only big club in the Premier League even close to being 'in the black' financially; and we're doing that with a 42,000 seater stadium. The finances at this club were brilliantly run by Peter Kenyon (love him or loathe him), and Gourlay is doing something equally effective (although he isn't doing too much to keep the fans onside at the minute). We don't need to move elsewhere!

The club HAVE to be seriously looking at moving. Unless they know something we don't about being able to eventually expand the bridge, as a top club in Europe we will have to expand our stadium capacity one way or the other to be able to continue to compete, especially with the new finacial regulations coming into place.

Well they can move the club to Earls Court if they want but they cant call it Chelsea FC as the name belongs to the Chelsea Pitch Owners on a 199 year lease but if Roman wants to buy the name back some people will make a bit of money

Chelsea Pitch Owners was created, and in 1997 it purchased the Stamford Bridge freehold, the turnstiles, the pitch and the Chelsea FC name :readthemessage:

the pitch owners are chelsea fans wanting the best for the club .Im sure they would hate to see us change our name . I also believe many would

realise that to continue to move forward we might have to leave the Bridge and move to "The New Stamford Bridge",,,onwards and upwards.

Mixed feelings for me. It's logical that moving stadiums is needed to secure the financial competitiveness of the club and everyone would welcome it keeping that in mind. But being someone who's never gone to the Bridge before and has always dreamed of doing so, I'd be very sad if we were to move.

I think the club have exhausted themselves trying to work out how to increase the capacity at Stamford Bridge. It is just not possible. For Chelsea to compete with Europe's elite we need to be generating far more match day revenue than we currently do. Stamford Bridge is a marvellous stadium with great history and it will be a very sad day if/when we do leave. But for Chelsea to remain amongst the elite moving stadium is a necessary evil.

Looks like my original title stands..

Chelsea have no plans to move stadiums despite reports to the contrary today concerning Earl's Court Exhibition Centre.

A club spokesman said: 'We don't have any plans to move stadium at this time.

'We get two or three of these proposals a year it seems, we have a look at them but we have no plans to move stadiums.

'There are quotes out there today from the investment director for the site developers for Earl's Court which state they have merely been keeping us up-to-date on progress for the site because we were interested a number of years ago, but they are committed to their original plan. They will be moving forward on the housing project.

'We have had talks with them but we have no plans to move.'

Earls Court is ideal in terms of access and being so close to the Bridge, there really aren't any better alternatives without leaving the area and I'll be massively disappointed if we let this opportunity slip.

It's a shame the club denied everything so swiftly.

Could be nothing more than a twitter rumor but I think it's worth discussing:

Oh..and 'insider' mentioned Roman Abramovich likes ground share in 60k+ with QPR (they're very interested), White City being favourite

Although White City makes sense location-wise I doubt the club would really want to invest in long term ground share. On the other hand there's the example of Allianz Arena.

Ground share with QPR.. Might be something to look into, they're owned by a very rich man and look to be set on their way into the Premiership. This could be very interesting..
