DYC. 7,542
Yes, the game should be for youngsters but playing a team of reserves is futile. We need some experienced heads in there, ie.:TurnbullFerreira, Ivanovic, Bruma, van AanholtEssienMcEachran, KakutaSturridge, Anelka, KalouPlaying any more than four young players would be Wenger-esque.Let me emphasize that i said youngsters and players on the bench (players like Ferreira, Zhirkov etc. included). With our very small squad, it's important we keep our first eleven players as fresh and fit as possible. It's also important that the players on the bench play as much as possible so they get some match rythym. If we do well this season they'll be playing a lot of games so tiring them out and risking injuries with these unimportant (let's be honest) League Cup matches would be kind of stupid. Something like this:Turnbull/WalkerFerreira - Ivanovic/Alex* - Bruma* - Van AanholtRamires - Mikel/CliffordMcEachranKakuta/Sturridge - Sturridge/Kalou - Zhirkov(Still a strong outing)*Don't know who's Terry's real partner in defence*Don't know if Bruma's fitAnd why not play more than four youngsters in the League Cup? Great experience for them and unlike the older players, they'll show more desire and be more eager to win matches and win the cup.
Peace. 4,352
Well, i'd like that Carlito gives a rest to Nico for this game, we don't need him to beat them. And maybe Mikel or Essien, but not the both because we should keep a strong midfielder, even against weak teams... If we want to make some sorte of experimentation (i mean do a wenger's thing or something like that), do it when we will have at least six point on the second.I would also like to see a youngster start the game. Sturridge start the game wenesday, so i reckon he won't start the blackpool game. Play kakuta from the start will be great, but i reckon Ancelotti will pick Kalou instead of him... But who knows ? Before Zilinia game i was sure that Ancelotti will not play the three youngsters...The lineup i would like to see :CechIva - Alex - Terry - AshMikel/EssienEssien/Ramires - Ramires/BenayounKakuta - MaloudaDrogbasub : GK - Danni - PVA - Ferreira - Benayoun/Mikel - Kalou - Zhirkov
zolayes 14,489
this fixture brings back memories of the some firsts in watching football, with Chelsea seeing them in the cinema on pathe news ,,watching them play Moscow Dynamos in 1945 ..3 - 3 draw but most memorable the crowd scenes ..still a Chelsea record of over 85000 I think .Then the first televised game ..Mathews cup final in 1948 as a boy in a crowded room watching a 12inch black and white screen .My first flloodlit game Workington v Blackpool with Mathews playing and the reds beating the tangerines..At some time I will recall memories of Mathews ,,Englands greatest ever footballer...Tomorrow just look forward to a memorable Chelsea win ,,perhaps capped by Kakutas first Chelsea goal

Rambo 1,729
Judging by Carlo's rotation policy, I think we'll see something along these lines:CechFerreira, Alex, Terry, ColeRamires, Mikel, BenayounKalou, Drogba, MaloudaResting Ivanovic, Zhirkov, Anelka and Essien - all of whom I see playing against Newcastle. That looks about right, I`d rest up Iva, Nico and Ess as well. gary gordon 1,777
I wouldn't get too excited. If we don't score early i can see this one getting pretty nervy. Blackpool will come out to defend and try catch us on the counter which they are pretty decent at doing..
BlueLion. 21,491
Quote Paul Merson:I'm calling this as 7-0 to Chelsea. I can't see how Chelsea aren't going to create 15 or 16 chances and I feel they'll get lucky and put half of them away. That's why I think it will be such a heavy scoreline.Personally I can't see us getting more than three. We've not really even tried this season besides the Stoke game in my honest opinion. BLionheart 516
i have always used to doubt the ability of chelsea against smaller teams , we have always seemed to be overconfident against them and our players never knew how to get a result out of those matches , even last year when we won he league we had some bad-ass results against small teams .but this season it seems to be a different case than the old one , we don't need to win 1 or 2-0 and then go back and defend like mourinho's days and we still can get the three points . and that is not only because our impressive scoreline in the last 5 games , but it's because the impressive form and gameplay we are in right now . it looks like if we had to repeat all the played matches we would win them all again . by this time last season we had the same no. of points but people weren't getting over excited as it was by wins agains the likes of hull and stoke in the injury time . i hope we can go ahead and continue playing like this , we need to win the next four fixtures against (blackpool - mancity - arsenal - astonvilla) those next couple of weeks can be very critical in our league title run . if we win all of them we will be clear of our rivals with a great margin and i think we have the ability to do so this season .
