The past pages are interesting. The talk about the universities I mean not the man love! I'm seriously considering doing my phd in about a year and a half and the UK is on the top of my list obviously because I already speak English. I already knew that the UK is very pricey but I'm not sure going to country where I don't speak the language and have no one there is the best choice. Thoughts guys?

But won't it be hard outside the uni when I know nothing of the native language? There's also the matter of getting a VISA. How do you rate my chances of getting one to Belgium? For example, I already know that I have a very low chance of getting a VISA to Canada..

I've always wanted to visit Belgium because of the movie In Bruges.

Lille however is the closest I can to Belgium through my Uni.

Lille Catholic University (Lille) - recommended by the Science and Engineering Faculty (Science)

I don't think so .... There are a lot of foreign students here. Ghent is a beautiful medieval town (it fucking equals Bruges any time) with more students than inhabitants.

We also have special programs for foreign students taking care of housing an stuff like that. You will get around just fine with English here. Literally everybody speaks it here. Do you want to go for a Phd abroad or finish your masters? Because thats different; Visa-wise Belgium is a WHOLE lot different than Britain, australia, the US or Canada. Different = easy. We are a transit country here and the center of Europe. I never heard of not being able to get a visa.

Heck ... everybody gets in even without a VISA lmao

If you ever want me to make inquiries?

I would recommend Canada if you can get in. The weather is awful, but it's an easy place to be (things generally make sense and work pretty well) and you can find any community you want. Lots of Lebanese in Montreal because of the French connection and Toronto because in Toronto, we have every sort of immigrant. As well, you meet people from different communities which is amazing.
