OneMoSalah 8,886
Hangovers in my case rely on a few factors. What you drank. What you ate before drinking. What you ate whilst drinkingHow much water you drank before drinking. How much water you drank whilst drinling.Whatever other drugs you've taken that day.For New Years, I had not eaten all day and I hadn't drank much water. Also on about my third beer I took two codeine-ibuprofen pills for a headache. That was a recipe for disaster.Thats one hell of a New Year then.I am surprised I didn't throw up at least once, I mean we had a whole lot of cider, shots, beer that night along with a massive chinese take away and I'd ate a whole load of bullshit earlier that day (crisps, biscuits, toast, bacon, sausage, sweets). Also I hate my friend, he dropped my corona that I'd been sold in a bar (somehow)... fucking bastard thats the last thing I remember about 2012, watching that bottle smash
Spike 12,049
That's what happens when there are so many 'Paddys' around. Maybe. I attribute it to the 6 o'clock swill. For almost half of the 20th century pubs shut at 6 o'clock in the afternoon, so everyone would binge drink for about an hour before closing time. This created a binge drinking culture in Australia. In Ireland you'll sit at the pub all day and drink about 20 pints, in Australia you'll got the pub for about 4 hours and manage about the same.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_o%27clock_swill Corner and OneMoSalah

CHOULO19 24,332
Need some advice guys. I want to buy a book for a friend. She's 15 and like my little sister but she's not a fan of reading, not that she ever tried it, but instead watches Arabic dramas all day which are as damaging to watches IQs as European and American reality shows. So I want to get her a book that would get her to like reading. I thought about Dickens, who is the reason I love reading so much, but her English is good, but not excellent. Any suggestions guys? Hmm. I think it depends on what genre she would like. Fiction? Fantastical or realistic fiction, crime and so on. Also, could you not buy a book translated into Arabic? Maybe buy her a good, well written tv series that not just full of bullshit. 'The Wire' or 'Breaking Bad' are examples but don't have to be those tv shows. Anything except 50 shades of grey.Tbh I don't really know, if only she was a few years younger and it would have been easier to get her a book, like the magic key books (i think they were for like 7-11 year olds though but they were awesome years ago haha Does she like any actors/actresses/sports stars/pop stars or that? Also, could you not buy a book translated into Arabic?Just a a book with good, likable story. Preferably nothing too fiction. Just to prove that the "stories" she watches on tv are mainly shit. I, personally, hate reading in Arabic. It is so much more difficult because Arabic is a very old and complicated language. The written Arabic is no longer used in conversations. Besides, every Arabic writer in history is an arrogant cunt Babysiitters clubNah I actually don't know, just my sis use to read them. That's a hard person to buy a book for. I was thinking about getting her something a bit more "girly" like Eat, Pray, Love..Harry potter got me interested in reading as a child, she's a bit older than i was but they really are cracking books especially if you haven't seen the films. For some reason Dave, I always thought you were much older I'm a "Potterhead" myself, read the whole series 6 times! I'm pretty sure she hasn't watched the movies, and the level of English is perfect for her. Think I'm gonna get either this or Eat, Pray Love. Never read the latter (thought it was too girly) anyone got an idea of the level of English used in it? dave30

The written Arabic is no longer used in conversations. Besides, every Arabic writer in history is an arrogant cunt I see. I think a good book for her to read would be 'Norwegian Wood' by Haruki Murakami. There are many different translations of it (originally written in Japanese) and the English translation is perfect and flows very well. It's a fictional story but it's very down-to-earth and its impossible not to become engrossed in. Here's a link if you want to know a bit about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Wood_%28novel%29The only reason for not reading it would be it might not be the best book to start reading with. But if she gets to like reading a lot then it would be perfect.
