sLOVEnian Blue 74
If he will leave and we won't be regularly in CL and fighting for top spots we will at least see who is a true fan. I am definately going to cheer and support Chelsea for long time and even if Roman goes. But even if he does go I think we have a bright future with many young talnts, fantastic academy and training ground, great stadium, world class players and world class staff and amazing fans ... Aesthetic Relic 301
For talk sake....even if he did decide to call it a day, the club will not go into freefall as some are saying. He'll have left a club in very good shape. We'll still be one of the big hitters in europeand will continue to attract top players. We could end up with another multi billionaire taking over with more money that Abramovich. If Chelsea came on the market those arabs would be taking hits out on each other to gain control of a club with Chelseas current standing in football. Bazza 12 1
Simple fact is we'll never know for sure what his plans are - he probably changes his mind too, as we all do. The club is massively stronger now than when he arrived, and he won't write off £700m - so, if he is to leave, it will be sold, or pass to his family.I hope he stays, largely because his support for the team is so obvious - unlike the faceless owners of so many other clubs. We Hate Scouse 10,326
I've had some information back. Apparently the club are losing a lot of money due to staff wages at the training ground and unnecessary expenditure. They are making staff cuts and cutting hours. This is Ron Gourlay doing this, I don't know whether it was under instruction from Abramovich. What worries me is if we are making these cuts, they may also lead to academy cuts and possibly damage our future.I'll post anything else as soon as I hear it. LDN Blue 7,903
I wouldn't think Abramovich would want to jeopardise our academy. It only makes sense we want to tighten up financially, maybe to fund some transfers? Who knows

- 25 - 167
I wouldn't of thought that the amount of money saved from staff cuts and cutting peoples hours would even come close to the figures required to reinvest in the squad personally. Aesthetic Relic 301
The massive wages came from buying big name players to allow us to make thatstep up the ladder to compete with Manu and Arsenal for the title. Now that we are there, we can afford to keep a core of "big name players" and mix it with our own academy players and get to the target of being self sufficient. If and when the time comes to buy a new player,we can aim for an up and coming player who'll be on decent wages, but not atronomical wages that we can keep within our wage budget. The more I think about this, the more I see it as a simple case of getting our act together. We've spent too long spending money for the sake of it.
Steve 10,227
If the club needs to save money. The first step is to start cutting players wages. I do not think any player at our club needs to be over 100k salary a week, its a joke. Obviously care would need to be taken so player do not decide to leave but i think it would be the right direction for the club, and I think the likes of Frank Lampard and John Terry would be more then happy to do so.
