Victory Parade

I've read this week that if we win the double this season that there may not be a victory parade afterwards. The reason that has been given is that many of the players will have to report for World Cup duty days after the FA Cup Final. I think it would be such a shame for this not to happen. We are on the verge of doing what I think only 7 other PL clubs have done and we won't be able to witness one of the biggest parades ever in the history of the club. This can't be allowed to happen!! What do other people think?

Well IF we win anything, let alone the double, I'll be surprised if there isn't some sort of parade. I can't imagine us winning the PL trophy and then not celebrating on a tour of the city.

But at about half 3 on Sunday, I can tell you for definite whether there is going to be one or not.

Apparently we've already organised this one. It was in the paper the other day saying how we've organised it even though the title race isn't over yet.

You have to put your request in within a certain time limit to make sure it gets passed as far as I know, well thats the way it works over here when we arranged band parades and such to make sure there is a police presence and the necessary actions are taken to close roads etc....

Its not jumping the gun, its just covering all bases. :)

I have no idea how true this is, but someone was saying on Chelsea Chat yesterday that the parade would be the Sunday after the CL final (23rd). I thought all the players would be away by then, so its hard to call.

The parade five years ago was brilliant, so fingers crossed theyll be another, even if all the players cant make it.

That makes sense if the club have had to give notice for a Parade to take place as I would imagine it would take a lot of organizing and they would have to liaise with the council/police about it. I can imagine it must be a logistical nightmare, but then they should be used to it as procedures would be in place for all our home games.

Following our success in winning the Barclays Premier League and with agreement from London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police, we can confirm that a victory parade will be held on Sunday 16 May, commencing a 1.00pm.

The Route

Two open-topped buses with the players and support staff will leave Stamford Bridge west entrance, and travel east along Fulham Road before turning right onto Hortensia Road, right again onto King's Road and then on to New King's Road.

At Eel Brook Common the buses will stop for a brief period before continuing to Parsons Green where it will end. The parade will start at 1.00pm and, including a 10-minute stop at Eel Brook Common, will finish around 2.00pm.

The route will be fully barriered and stewarded with pedestrian crossing points in operation to allow movement of people around the route.

Eel Brook Common

A big screen and PA system will be placed on the Common to show the live broadcast of the parade between 12.45pm and the end of the parade. In addition, toilets and first aid facilities will be provided.

Road closures and restrictions

The only roads completely closed to traffic will be those required for the parade route:

• Fulham Road from Britannia Road to Hortensia Road

• Hortensia Road from Fulham Road to Kings Road

• Kings Road from Gunter Grove to Waterford Road

• New Kings Road from Waterford Road to Parsons Green

In addition, there will be a significant number of restrictions and diversions to stop through traffic.

All roads adjacent to the route will be restricted and stewarded. The stewards will facilitate the departure and return of residents on foot and in vehicles. The restrictions will also reduce fans entering the area trying to park.

Vehicles will not be able to cross the parade route. It is recommended to travel away from the parade route to the diversion route (see map) and then use the diversion route to circulate. If you are returning to the area it would be helpful to the stewards if you carry something with your address to speed up the identification of residents from visitors.

Parking restrictions

Only the roads on the parade route will have parking restrictions in place where vehicles will be relocated by parking enforcement teams from London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

The resident parking bays in Hortensia Road will be restricted from early morning on the parade day.

Emergency Services

Significant planning has taken place with the local authorities and emergency services to ensure all services from official local authority vehicles and doctors to those responding to emergency calls can meet their obligations.

Cleaning up

Following the parade, a full clean up of the parade route and Eel Brook Common will be carried out to return the area to normal as quickly as possible.

Timings

While the parade itself will only last an hour, the preparation and clearing up will take significantly longer. The first road closures and restrictions will be implemented from 6.30am to allow the barriers to be deployed. All road closures and restrictions will be in place by 8.00am.

It is expected that the crowd will start to gather from 10.00am with the parade at 1.00pm.

Following the parade, street cleaning and barrier removal teams will start as soon as crowd conditions allow. Once the barriers have been removed, a phased reopening of the roads will be considered by the event organisers, the local authorities and the Police assuming it is safe to do so. It is estimated all restrictions will be lifted by 5.00pm.

Chelsea TV

The parade will be shown live on Chelsea TV between 12:30- 2:30 with all the big interviews from the bus and on route.
