We have signed some great talents from Eastern European like Stoch. If it's only that one guy finding them then he should be payed more, he has done an excellent job. Also, so many English scouts, yet not that many English players have been signed as of yet.

UEFA assured Chelsea they were in the RIGHT when they first decided to sign Lens prospect Gael Kakuta, it has been revealed.

The People says Chelsea'sscouting network also their homework on Kakuta's status before he putpen to paper to join their academy in the summer of 2008.

And calls were made to UEFA who assured Chelsea they could snare him because Kakuta was not registered as a contracted player with Lens.

Tribal Football

I was watching the sunday supplement, and they mentioned Alan Nixon(from the mirror) being confident that Chelsea have the proof of UEFA's assurance and te signature on Kakuta's pre contract is his mother's. He probably must have got this story from a club's inside. HOPEFULYY!!

I for one am not too concerned by this matter tbh, in all likely hood this ban will either be overturned or reduced to 1 transfer window. I am pretty confident that Chelsea had no intention of signing any players in the January window dispite the ACON anyway. So if this does get reduced to 1 window then it shouldnt affect us anyway. The only reason we would need to bring in any players is if we have serios injury concerns, if that is the case then we have many players out on loan that we can recall, ie Di Santo, Stoch, Mancienne, Sinclair to name a few, these would cover the players that leave for the ACON. Lets not forget the signings of Sturridge and Matic who are very promising young players as well as the very strong squad we already have. So I dont really see an issue here. If anything this should worry other big clubs who could face similar punishment who do not have the same squad we do. As take into account the work that is to be by Bruno Di Michaelis who was brought in to specifically reduce the number of injuries we might suffer.

This is a very harsh ban in my opinion so am quite confident that it will be reduced or overturned, however if FIFA or UEFA feel so strongly about the tapping up of young players then perhaps they should look at the way they govern the matter instead of making examples of clubs. As far as I am concerned what Chelsea have done is brilliant business practice and not in anyway violating in laws. But once again the incompetance of FIFA and UEFA mean that we must bear the brunt.

KENYON: NO 'CHILD TRAFFICKING'

Posted on: Tue 08 Sep 2009

Chelsea Football Club chief executive Peter Kenyon has insisted the signing of teenager Gael Kakuta was not 'child trafficking'.

Kenyon was responding to a question that Chelsea FC supported aproposal from UEFA to ban transfers of under 18's through its positionon the European Clubs' Association of which Kenyon is a board member. The ban has been characterized as outlawing 'child trafficking'.

Speaking at the ECA General Assembly in Switzerland today Kenyoninsisted it was important to draw a distinction between the Kakuta caseand the general problem.

He said; 'It was something that happened two years ago that was inno way child trafficking. I think you've got to distinguish between theissues.

'This has been talked about for the last 12 months and we havesigned up fully to the ECA and UEFA's position, along with FIFA's. Weneed to separate our overall position with the specific case. The factwe are appealing tells you our position. We deny any wrongdoing.'

The Chelsea chief executive added that Kakuta, now 18, had also beenstunned by FIFA's decision that Chelsea had acted outside the rules inthe transfer. He also said that the other European clubs were 'shocked'at the decision.

He added: 'He wants to play his profession, which is football. Weneed to take account for that and understand this is something thathappened two years ago, and make sure we've got enough support aroundhim to ensure he's fully supported at a difficult time.'
