Fuck this tournament USA a great country for so many reasons but soccer is not one of them yet. I really don't think this delay is a football decision. It seems like it's a local regulation and safety first isn't the worst way to behave when there's a forecast of lightning. That did actually creep into my mind too but there is no way they are rigging the auto’s, surely lol OhForAGreavsie

lluubbeenn 179
The rules are very clear when there is a threat of a thunderstorm at the stadiums being used at this tournament. Lightning within 10 miles (16.1km) of the stadium, the match is automatically suspended. The match director is told about it and then tells the referee to stop the game and take the players off the pitch and back to the changing rooms. Pizy 18,977
All I know is that it would be the robbery of the century if we come out here and fail to see out the final few minutes. This has been as one sided a match as you’ll ever see between two big clubs. It feels like we’ve been playing a team a division below us in the League Cup or something. Our own dogshit decision making in the final third has made the score appear closer than the match has actually been. We should be completely out of sight and cruising to a 3 or 4 goal win right now. Apparently the regulation is 30 minutes sheltering followed by a 10-minute warm up for the players. It just seems odd considering the weather we deal with in the UK - Got fans almost naked in -0c~ conditions. I just feel there has to be an ounce of common sense. They have to recoup "their" investment somehow with it being free to air. Started to introduce ads during matches. The main reason I hate watching sports in most countries overseas. I didn't mind this station promotion during the drinks breaks.
Fulham Broadway 17,339
They'll have to change the kick off times when they have the WC out there. Cant have this weather speculation. They'll be saying Iraq have weapons of mass destruction next... OhForAGreavsie

If it is a local regulation I don't see that they have any choice. If they don't follow the regulation they put themselves at risk in case anything goes wrong. And that thing, whatever it is, would be uninsured because the insurance company would have stipulated that they have to follow the local regs. ZAPHOD2319 4,822
It has never happened While there are no well-documented cases of a direct lightning strike hitting the stands during a game, the risk is taken seriously and mitigated through design and protocols

Those showing coverage clearly aren't clued in. FIFA, NA, etc have to get their head around things 12 months from now.
