I think part of this equation might be what Casadei discussed in his interview. He has always been a box to box midfielder, even for Maresca at Leicester. Maresca needs him in the holding midfield role so he embraced it and wants to understand the position as much as he can to improve his game. 

I'm not sure what is going on with Carney? I think Casadei is just embracing his opportunity.

So far we started well, but this is what you expect from 11 players who don't start in the Premier League. If they want to earn higher place in the team hierarchy these Thursday nights shouldn't be dull.
