Cue the uproarβ¦. although he is just as average or worse than Sanchez and everyone before him.Β If this guy is just as average as well then its another poor keeper signing.Β Not entirely convinced, stats are poor and clips of him donβt fill me with confidence in the same way that keepers like Ederson, Alisson, Courtois, Oblak etc do although they were/are the very best of the best. But it has been a huge problem position since Tibo left. If this is a signing more driven by the co-sporting directors then not entirely sure.Β Edited July 27, 2024 by OneMoSalah Sir Mikel OBE

robsblubot 3,595
Now that he's signed, the very best of luck to him. Hope Maresca's eye on his potential pans out and he becomes the goalie we need.

King Kante 1,643
Praying he isn't as bad as some people have made him out to be. Not expecting Alisson levels but please be better than Sanchez and Petro.Β bigbluewillie

And dumbo Maresca Β is making him first choice, what a fucking sick joke, Let's see. At the start of the Summer we were apprantly happy to go with Sanchez as No.1. Within a week of the squad coming back we were in the market for a GK. I would say that indicates EM knows Sanchez isn't good enough. Another positive is the lack of Disaster seeing the pitch so far. Whilst I hate ideological managers, so far he has shown me he does seem to have some evaluation skills - if I am correct in my interpretation of what we've seen.Β

Vesper 30,185
Filip JΓΈrgensen ready to battle Robert Sanchez for Chelsea No 1 spot https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5676740/2024/08/02/filip-jorgensen-Chelsea-sanchez/ Filip JorgensenΒ says he is ready to battleΒ Robert SanchezΒ to be the first choice goalkeeper atΒ Chelsea. Jorgensen completed a β¬24.5million (Β£20.7m, $26.6m) move fromΒ VillarrealΒ earlier this week and flew out to the United States of America to join the club on their pre-season tour. The 22-year-old has already made his first appearance, replacing Sanchez at the start of the second half in Chelseaβs 3-0 victory over Club America. New head coach Enzo Maresca has yet to confirm who his main βkeeper will be this season and Jorgensen is ready to fight for his place in the side. He said: βI came here to compete with him (Sanchez). Then, of course, the one who chooses is the manager. I try to do my best every day, to get better. Then at the end of the day, itβs the manager who will decide who will play. βWe (Maresca and Jorgensen) talked a bit (before joining). He wanted me to come here and I wanted to come as well. It was a short conversation just to get to know each other a little bit. βEveryone welcomed me very well, to be honest. Robert as well. He seems to be a very good guy, a good trainer, and I think we will compete good. We will have good competition.β Jorgensen reveals he ignored interest from a number of otherΒ Premier LeagueΒ clubs in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge β as well as from a Ligue 1 team in France. He recorded the most saves inΒ La LigaΒ for Villarreal last season (143), but one of the main reasons the Denmark Under-21 international, who agreed a new five-year contract at Villarreal only a few months ago, has been signed is because he fits Marescaβs philosophy of having a keeper that is comfortable in possession. Jorgensen added: βIn Spain, we also always try to build from the back and try to play with the goalkeeper. I would say Iβm pretty confident with that. I have some knowledge of how the manager wants to play but itβs been very quick. I have seen some videos, I have trained (with the team), but I am looking forward to getting to know his style of play better. βIn the summer, we got some clubs calling, and they wanted me to come. But in the end, when Chelsea called, there was no doubt for me. The club and my agent, we knew it was Chelsea where we wanted to go, so Iβm very happy. βI have taken the first steps. I am very happy. Now we have to keep building and getting to know the players better.β Chelsea begin the new Premier League campaign against championsΒ Manchester CityΒ on August 18.
