Jose Mourinho is set to accept defeat in his pursuit of Ricardo Quaresma, according to reports.

The Inter Milan chief has made the Portugal international winger one of his top targets for the summer, and reports last week suggested a deal was a mere formality.

However, reports in Italy now claim the Nerazzuri are about to give up on the winger, as they remain poles apart in negotiations with Porto over a transfer fee.

This will be a huge blow to Mourinho, and one that could come back to haunt him if his former club Chelsea take advantage of the situation by registering an interest in Quaresma.

The player is well known by Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, and as the Brazilian has seemingly unlimited transfer funds, he could benefit from an advantage once enjoyed by Mourinho.
