One of the worst performances I've seen in a Blue shirt. Got turned too easily one-on-one, his position was bad and his decision making even worse. He should have been sent off..twice! I don't want to see him at RB for a very long time after this.

Massive overreaction.

If we took this attitude, then Ashley Cole would have played around 20 games last season due to the number of times he got roasted by average wingers like Garath McCleary. It's a bad game, we move on and hope he improves against United

That is in no way based on yesterday, alone. I've said many times that I don't want to see him at RB. He doesn't close down crosses, he gets turned way too easily and he gets beaten for pace. He's not a RB, he's a CB.

Well it's my opinion. I think I'm allowed to have one, if you don't mind..

I also think Iva is more of a CB.. he can't really handle with pacey players, sometimes he manages to use his body but it doesn't always cut it.

He failes to block crosses too, he did it yesterday when Benteke crossed and it was almost a goal, another example is the match against Madrid where he let Isco cross to set up Ronaldo's header. You can't give players like Isco time and space to look for a pass \ cross.

He's a physical beast and one of my favorite Chelsea players, but he's got that Luiz factor where every single time he goes for a tackle or goes for the ball in the air I hold my breath. Almost like a yellow or red waiting to happen. A ticking time bomb.

My only problem is that he doesn't close down crosses, but for every bad game you get from him, your likely to get three or four good games. You say he gets beaten for pace, yet i've seen him deal with the likes of Nani and Ashley Young. Don't be selective

Not nearly good enough for a starter at Chelsea. Ivanovic is a good CB, but he's at best an average RB.

One of the worst posts I've seen here.

Thank fuck our team is not managed by yourself or anybody who thinks like this. I clicked reply, but I can't even make a reply to this post, its just plain wrong. Dont take this as a personal insult, because its not.

Nobody is perfect, and Ivanovic has had some fair share of mistakes made, especially last season, but fuck me there are some people here just waiting for one mistake, one bad game, to jump on the bandwagon. The same may be applied to Lamps' thread aswell. When I read stuff like that I feel embarrassed by our own supporters.

The thing is many people think Ivanovic had a good game and some differ. Apart from couple moments he was excellent, won nearly every single aerial duel and Agbonlahor did not rip him to shreds. He got past him about once but apart from that Agbonlahor was well marked and struggled to make a similar impact like he did against Arsenal. Ivanovic done ver well. Got the winning goal and was defensively solid IMO. A neutral fan I went to the game with game with randomly complemented his performance and I agreed. I don't think he had a bad game at all.

Opinions I guess, but 3 or 4 Chelsea managers have disagreed with you

And who was the alternative we had? The only season we had a proper alternative in Azpi, Ivanovic ended up playing at CB.

I've been saying that Iva should not play at RB ever since I joined here, so it's hardly "jumping on the bandwagon". The game highlighted exactly what's wrong with him playing at RB.

I've explained why I never want to see him at RB again:

Do you have a football answer to that? Because "I'm embarrassed by your opinion" is not really a valid argument.

So you were saying Ivanovic shouldn't play at RB even in our double winning season when he was the best RB in the country and got in the PFA team of the year? The problem is you're being so selective, the next time he has a good game someone could come on here saying 'this game highlighted exactly why he's an excellent RB'. Fact is Ivan has a lot more good games than bad games at RB, and to say he is average at best there is just a bit silly.

He played at CB more last season largely due to Luiz moving to midfield and Terry picking up his injuries and suffering a loss of form. Even then while he's been here, Ivan has seen off competition from Bosingwa (who was good at one stage) and Ferreira

Yes he had a good season at RB, but he's had more than two bad seasons there since. It's not a fact that he has more good games there than bad ones, he rarely has a game there without making a mistake, like not closing down crosses which he does in every game, like poor positioning and wrong decisions like what he did in the Weinman chance. And even if I want to assume that that is true, when has that ever been good enough for Chelsea? Bosingwa did have a good period with us, and when he did he was a starter over Iva. At Chelsea level, Iva at RB is average at best. He can fill in a few games but he is no way good enough to be starting at RB.
